Read the following passage. Decide if the statements are True or False, and choose the correct answers (A, B, C or D) Jamila's Blog
Hi. I know a lot of my readers do not speak English as their first language, so here are a few methods for
improving your English. They work for me!
Pick up anything which has English writing on it, like a box of breakfast cereal or a candy bar, or which has
English in it, like a comic book or a magazine. Look closely at signs in English – road signs, store signs – and read the
same information in your language if it is there. Reading helps you understand new words and see how sentences are
put together. Watch movies or TV shows in English. Watch something with subtitles first, then make it more
challenging by turning them off and watching again. It's a great way to hear how people really speak. Don't be shy!
Speak English with your friends or family. If you can, find a buddy who is also learning English. Talking helps you
become more comfortable using the language. Keep a diary or post every day on social media in English. Writing helps
you remember new words and gives you ideas for vocabulary you need to learn. There are many free apps for learning
English. They can make learning feel like a game, and they are great for practicing anytime, anywhere.
People say in English, 'Practice makes perfect'. Don't worry about making mistakes. You learn when you get
something wrong, not when you get it right.
65. Reading anything in English helps Jamila with grammar. ______
66. Watching movies with subtitles doesn't help her with pronunciation. ______
67. Writing helps Jamila remember new words and gives her ideas for vocabulary she needs. ______
68. You will pay a practice fee online because there aren't any free apps for learning English. ______
69. What does "buddy" mean in paragraph 4? Trang 4 A. App. B. Book. C. Friend. D. Teacher.
70. How does Jamila say you learn?
A. By having a good teacher B. By making mistakes
C. By practicing
D. By using all the methods
LIFE FOR TEENAGERS IN THE PAST

with wood or metal. Girls used to learn household tasks from their mothers. Most teenagers didn't go to school because
there were very few schools and, anyway, parents could not pay for education.
One hundred years ago in the USA, most 13- and 14-year-olds went to school because, in many states, it was free
until you reached But after that, most left to work in factories in cities or on farms in the country. Life could be very
hard for teenagers back then, especially in poor areas, but some of them used to have fun at dance halls with music for
young people or at the new movie theatres.
Fifty years ago, in the 1970s, most teenagers in the USA started to get a lot more freedom than at any time before
