correct answer to each of the questions from 32 to 36.
Culture is the lens with which we evaluate everything around us; we evaluate what is proper or
improper, normal or abnormal, through our culture. If we are immersed in a culture that is unlike our
own, we may experience culture shock and become disoriented when we come into contact with a
fundamentally different culture. People naturally use their own culture as the standard to judge other
cultures; however, passing judgment could reach a level where people begin to discriminate against
others whose “ways of being” are different than their ownessentially, we tend to fear that which we
do not understand.
Cultural diversity is important because our country, workplaces, and schools increasingly consist of
various cultural, racial, and ethnic groups. We can learn from one another, but first we must have a level
of understanding about each other in order to facilitate collaboration and cooperation. Learning about
other cultures helps us understand different perspectives within the world in which we live and helps
dispel negative stereotypes and personal biases about different groups.
In addition, cultural diversity helps us recognize and respect “ways of being” that are not
necessarily our own, so that as we interact with others, we can build bridges to trust, respect, and
understanding across cultures. Furthermore, this diversity makes our country a more interesting place to
live, as people from diverse cultures contribute language skills, new ways of thinking, new knowledge,
and different experiences.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN SPORT
The first sports game was televised in the USA more than fifty years ago. Over the following
decades television provided sports coaches with a wealth of information to analyse. By viewing
recordings, they could study the number of passes received, tackles avoided, distances covered, speeds
achieved and a host of (39) factors relating to the performance of their teams or athletes. Most
of this data, though , consisted of bare statistics without any meaningful context. (40) , the use of
artificial intelligence (Al) is now enabling an alternative (41) to coaching. Al means the
development of computer systems that can perform tasks usually associated with human intelligence,
such as decision making.
Al doesn't get tired, has extraordinary powers of vision, particularly for objects moving at speed,
and is capable of making complex (42) very quickly. Research has shown that, particularly over
a whole day's worth of events, computers are just as reliable as human judges when it comes to giving
gymnasts a score. However, computer scientist Henri Simeonson has been quick to warn about some

Environmentalists often fear that tourists will trample all over sensitive natural resource areas, but
tourism may bring the needed and only economic incentives to help drive conservation, said Bynum
Boley. Ecotourism and natural resource conservation already have a mutually beneficial relationship
that is ideal for creating a sustainable partnership.
"Ecotourism destinations benefit in the form of enhanced tourism competitiveness from the
protection of quality natural resources," he said. "Meanwhile, the conservation of these natural
resources is increasingly valued since these pristine natural resources are the foundation of the
ecotourism industry and the driver of all economic benefits associated with ecotourism."
Tourism is a $7.6 trillion global industry, provides 277 million jobs and is a primary income source
for 20 of the world's 48 least-developed countries. It also subsidizes environmental protection and helps
protect, conserve and value cultural resources that might otherwise be undervalued by the host
community, Boley said. In the newspaper, Boley and co-author Gary Green said that despite past
tension between the tourism industry and environmentalists, the two should team up as allies to fight off
increasing conversion of land away from its natural state, Ecotourists not only provide a boost to the
economy in such places, they can also motivate landowners into keeping the environment in its natural
state instead of converting it into something unsustainable. They could also influence the public
perception of conservation, Boley explained, which does not often favor environmental protection.
“The public has become increasing less prone to respond to environmental messages,” he said.
Economic messages are needed in order to attract the public's interest.” Too often, Boley and
Green said, unique natural resource areas are converted into urban, suburban and agricultural
developments without considering their ecotourism potential. In addition to the lost ecotourism revenue,
there are a host of negative environmental consequences such as biodiversity loss, water and food
shortages and the land being unable to mitigate the effects of climate change. These areas are not valued
for their unique attributes or the valuable natural resources they provide, Green said, “so we lose them.”
Tourists have historically been seen as having a negative impact on the environment. Critics complain
that they violate fragile and threatened natural environments while contributing to greenhouse gases
from the increased number of flights to these exotic and often remote locales. While these criticisms are
justified, Boley and Green said responsible programs promote education of ecological conservation and
environmental sustainability, fostering a greater understanding and appreciation of these exotic areas.

THE GREAT STORM
The Great Storm of 1987 is without a doubt the worst storm to have affected the United
Kingdom in living memory. It wasn't only the damage and destruction caused by the storm itself, which
still stays in people's minds today, but also how the people responsible for forecasting the weather got
things so terribly (34) .
The night before the storm, the British MET Office informed the public that despite rumours of a
hurricane on its way towards the country, the following day would just be very windy. It should come
then as no surprise that people were furious when many woke up the next morning to excessive damage
to property, trees that had been blown down, and no electricity. (35) people were severely
injured and some even lost their lives in one of the worst storms (36) Britain had ever known.
The whole incident highlighted how significant the media is to us and how inaccurate
information can affect our lives. The MET Office has since updated its computer systems so that they
can detect (37) storms
and bad weather in advance and give people sufficient warning. (38) extreme
storms are not very common in the United Kingdom, such events demonstrate the need to have efficient
warning system in place to keep people safe.

correct answer to each of the questions from 39 to 45.
The stylistic innovation in painting known as Impressionism began in the 1870’s. The
Impressionists wanted to depict what they saw in nature, but they were inspired to portray fragmentary
moments by the increasingly fast pace of modern life. They concentrated on the play of light over
objects, people, and nature, breaking up seemingly solid surfaces, stressing vivid contrast between
colors in sunlight and shade, and depiction reflected light in all of its possibilities. Unlike earlier artists,
they did not want to observe the world from indoors. They abandoned the studio, painting in the open air
and recording spontaneous Impressions of their subjects instead of making outside sketches and then
moving indoors to complete the work from memory.
Some of the Impressionists painting methods were affected by technological advances. For example,
the shift from the studio to the open air was made possible in part by the advent of cheap rail which
permitted easy and quick access to the countryside or seashore, as well as by newly developed chemical
dyes and oils that led to collapsible paint tubes, which enabled artists to finish their paintings on the
spot.
Impressionism acquired its name not from supporters but from angry art lovers who felt
threatened by the new painting. The term “Impressionism” was born in 1874, when a group of artists
who had been working together organized an exhibition of their paintings in order to draw public
attention to their work. Reaction from the public and press was immediate, and derisive. Among the 165
paintings exhibited was one called Impression: Sunrise, by Claude Monet (1840-1926), viewed through
hostile eyes, Monet’s painting of a rising sun over a misty, watery scene seemed messy, slapdash, and
an affront to good taste. Borrowing Monet’s title, art critics extended the term Impressionismto the
entire exhibit. In response,
Monet and his 29 fellow artists in the exhibit adopted the same name as a badge of their unity, despite
individual differences.
From then until 1886 Impressionism had all the zeal of a “church”, as the painter Renoir put it.
Monet was faithful to the Impressionist creed until his death, although many of the others moved on to
new styles.

A young woman without eyebrows is seated in front of a beautiful landscape. Does this sound
familiar to you? This is one of the most famous works by Leonardo da Vinci. The Mona Lisa is a
beautiful painting. However, it was the mystery behind the painting that intrigued people. Who was the
woman and why did da Vinci paint her?
Different theories have been proposed about her identity. Many art and history buffs thought that
it was a portrait of da Vinci himself, but as a woman. Others thought it was not any particular person,
but the ideal of a woman. They say this is why she was painted with no eyebrows. This gave her face a
more unearthly: lạ/ diệu look. Still, others thought that it was a portrait of an actual woman of the
time, the wife of Francesco del Giocondo.
In 2005, historian Armin Schlechter of Heidelberg discovered the answer. While looking through
an old manuscript, he found a small note. In this, the woman in the Mona Lisa was positively identified as
Lisa del Giocondo. The artist had been paid to do her portrait after the birth of her second
child. “Mona,” in fact, means “madam” in Italian. As for her unearthly look? Historians say women

correct answer to each of the questions from 32 to 36.
Culture is the lens with which we evaluate everything around us; we evaluate what is proper or
improper, normal or abnormal, through our culture. If we are immersed in a culture that is unlike our
own, we may experience culture shock and become disoriented when we come into contact with a
fundamentally different culture. People naturally use their own culture as the standard to judge other
cultures; however, passing judgment could reach a level where people begin to discriminate against
others whose “ways of being” are different than their own—essentially, we tend to fear that which we do not understand.
Furthermore, this diversity makes our country a more interesting place to
live, as people from diverse cultures contribute language skills, new ways of thinking, new knowledge, and different experiences.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN SPORT
The first sports game was televised in the USA more than fifty years ago. Over the following
decades television provided sports coaches with a wealth of information to analyse. By viewing
recordings, they could study the number of passes received, tackles avoided, distances covered, speeds
achieved and a host of (39)
factors relating to the performance of their teams or athletes. Most
of this data, though , consisted of bare statistics without any meaningful context. (40) , the use of
artificial intelligence (Al) is now enabling an alternative (41) to coaching. Al means the
development of computer systems that can perform tasks usually associated with human intelligence, such as decision making.
Al doesn't get tired, has extraordinary powers of vision, particularly for objects moving at speed,
and is capable of making complex (42)
very quickly. Research has shown that, particularly over
a whole day's worth of events, computers are just as reliable as human judges when it comes to giving
gymnasts a score. However, computer scientist Henri Simeonson has been quick to warn about some
potential difficulties. In particular, Simeonson is concerned that Al is vulnerable to hackers, (43)

The MET Office has since updated its computer systems so that they can detect (37) storms
and bad weather in advance and give people sufficient warning. (38) extreme
storms are not very common in the United Kingdom, such events demonstrate the need to have efficient
warning system in place to keep people safe.

Some of the Impressionists’ painting methods were affected by technological advances. For example,
the shift from the studio to the open air was made possible in part by the advent of cheap rail which
permitted easy and quick access to the countryside or seashore, as well as by newly developed chemical
dyes and oils that led to collapsible paint tubes, which enabled artists to finish their paintings on the spot.
Borrowing Monet’s title, art critics extended the term “Impressionism” to the entire exhibit. In response,
Monet and his 29 fellow artists in the exhibit adopted the same name as a badge of their unity, despite individual differences.
From then until 1886 Impressionism had all the zeal of a “church”, as the painter Renoir put it.
Monet was faithful to the Impressionist creed until his death, although many of the others moved on to new styles.

This gave her face a
more unearthly: lạ/kì diệu look.
Historians say women
of this time liked to remove their eyebrows. Apparently, they thought eyebrows were not attractive.
