I made an appointment to see Mr. Bean at 3 o’clock on
Tuesday 11 February to discuss my application for a job.

Unfortunately, he was involved in a car accident in the
morning and rang to cancel the appointment. I made another
appointment to see him at 10 o’clock on Friday 21 February.

However, when I got to his office, his secretary told me that
his wife had died at 2 o’clock in the night and that he was not
coming into the office that day. She suggested I reschedule
for some time in March. So I made a third appointment to see
Mr. Bean at 1 o’clock on Monday 10

March. This time I
actually got to see him. However, he informed me that they
had now filled all the vacancies and suggested I contact him
again in 1998. I assured him that he would not be seeing me
in either this or the next century.
