How do American people socialize with others?
- When meeting someone for the first time, it is customary for
Americans to shake hands with both men and women. They often
just hug each other tightly to close friends or friends who have
not seen each other for a long time.When talking, Americans
often look directly at the opposite person and stand not too close.
Not looking directly at the person you are talking to, speaking
softly, and being shy can be seen as powerless or weak.
Americans also use gestures and gestures to different degrees in
communication to emphasize what they want to say or maybe
just out of natural habit. Shaking your head from side to side
means disagree. Nodding means agreement. Raise your
eyebrows to show surprise. Shrug shows skepticism or
uncertainty. In a restaurant, when you want to call a waiter, you
can raise your hand and stick your index finger out to get their
attention. However, waving or pointing your index finger directly
at someone else means accusing or challenging that person.
Reaching out with the palm facing forward means stopping. For
Americans, raising the middle finger is considered obscene and
defiant.
