1. Phi nhị nguyên giới là gì?
Phi nhị nguyên giới, hay còn được gọi là Phi nhị giới (tiếng Anh: Non-binary
hoặc Nonbinary, hay được viết gọn thành Enby là một phổ của bản dạng giới
mà không phải là hoàn toàn là nam hay nữ, tức chỉ các nhóm giới nằm bên
ngoài hệ nhị nguyên giới. Những người phi nhị nguyên có thể được coi là
người chuyển giới, bởi họ nhìn nhận bản thân có giới không đồng nhất với
giới mà họ được chỉ định sau sinh. Mặc dù vậy, không phải người phi nhị giới
nào cũng coi bản thân là người chuyển giới.
2. Phân biệt Non binary, Non-conforming và Genderqueer
Sau khi đã giải thích được non-binary là gì, chúng ta sẽ cùng tìm hiểu kĩ hơn
về sự khác nhau giữa ba bản dạng giới này. Non binary, nonconforming và
genderqueer chỉ tương tự nhau chứ không giống nhau hoàn toàn. Chẳng hạn,
non binary có thể dùng để mô tả cách một người định danh về giới lẫn thể
hiện giới, còn non-conforming chỉ được dùng để mô tả cách một người thể hiện giới tính.
Có thể thấy, ba từ này có thể được dùng thay phiên nhau, nhưng không phải
trường hợp nào cũng thế. Nhiều người dùng chung một thuật ngữ để miêu tả
bản thân nhưng chưa hẳn họ đã có trải nghiệm giống nhau. Theo Lou Himes
– nhà tâm lý học lâm sàng ở New York cho biết: “Những thuật ngữ này đều
xuất phát từ những trải nghiệm cá nhân.”
Ví dụ, không phải tất cả những người chuyển giới đều là non-conforming.
Hay non-conforming có thể dùng cho cả những người hợp giới và non-binary.
Tương tự, nhiều người genderqueer có thể là những người hợp giới nếu họ
muốn dùng từ này để miêu tả bản thân.
3. Ngày Quốc tế Phi nhị nguyên giới
Ngày Quốc tế Phi nhị giới (tiếng Anh: International Nonbinary People's Day)
được tổ chức vào ngày 14 tháng 7 hàng năm. Mục đích của ngày này là để
nâng cao sự nhận thức về sự hiện diện cũng như những vấn đề mà người
phi nhị giới phải đối mặt quanh thế giới. Ngày này được tổ chức đầu tiên vào năm 2012.
