What’s your favorite season ? Why ?
I love winter because it rains in the winter here. I love the rain
because I barely see the rain in the other seasons.
I love spring because the weather is very nice. It is not too hot or

In this picture I can see a couple on their wedding day. The bride is
wearing a white wedding dress and the bridegroom is wearing a black

When did you last attend a wedding?
I attended a wedding a year ago. I went to my sister’s wedding. I wore
a black dress and golden shoes. The wedding was held at a hotel/a
castle. I ate rice and beef and danced with my friends.
Why are weddings important to the families involved?
Weddings are important because it is a day to see all of my family
together. When two people get married their families join together. The
families are happy for the bride and bridegroom. It is an important day

Tell me what you see in the two pictures
In the first picture I can see some people working on a field. They
are farmers. They are cutting the plants by hand. They are
wearing wide hats and thick clothing.
In the second picture there is a big machine cutting the plants. I
think this is an example of modern day farming.
What would it be like to work on these two farms?
In this first farm it would be difficult to work there. The farmers are
working by hand, so it would take a long time to complete the
work. It would also be hard because the farmers are always
bending over so they would get a lot of back pain.
In the second farm it would be easy to work there. The farmer
uses a machine so it would be faster. It would also be good for making more money.

I think the second method of farming is better for the community. It
takes a short time, you don’t need many employees and it is easier for their bodies. Task 4
Tell me about a time you went on a long journey. How did you feel about it?
How do people travel long distances in your country?
I went on a long journey last year.
-I went to Egypt for 5 months.
- I went Syria by bus. It took 24 hours.
- I went to Mecca by bus. It took 12 hours.
I was very tired after the long trip. But I couldn’t take a plane
because it was very expensive and there were no seats
available. I also am afraid of flying.
In Saudi Arabia people can take a car, a bus or they travel by

It is nice weather. It’s sunny and warm.

feel relaxed. I am very busy during the day, so it’s important that I take some time to relax.

I love classical music. My favourite musician is Beethoven. I like classical
music because I feel relaxed when I listen to it. I listen to music on the

In this picture I can see a boy surprising his mother. He has his hands
over her eyes, so she cannot see the flowers he has. It might be

Tell me about a time when you gave or received some flowers
I gave my friend some flowers because she delivered a baby. She
delivered a baby last year in Qatif, our city. I bought the flowers from a
flower shop. I gave her pink flowers because she had a girl.
On what occasions in your country do people give flowers?
In Saudi Arabia people give flowers on many occasions. They give
flowers when there is a birthday, a graduation, a wedding or when a

In the first picture I can see a modern city with many skyscrapers.
I think it’s New York because I can see the Chrysler building. It looks cloudy.
In the second picture I can see traditional buildings. I think it’s
Venice because I heard there is a river in Venice with the
buildings next to the river. The weather is sunny in the second picture.
Which of these two places would you prefer for a holiday?
I would prefer to travel to New York for a holiday. I prefer New
York because it’s a big modern city. I heard there are many
things to do there. There are also many things to see. The
weather in New York is also nice.
I would prefer to travel to Venice for a holiday because it’s a
beautiful old city. I love old buildings and history. I think the city is lOMoAR cPSD| 47206071
quiet and relaxing. I like Italian food too. I heard the gelato and

Tell me about the music that comes from your country.
The music in my country is varied. In Saudi Arabia you can hear
different genres of music. There is hip hop, classical and traditional
music from the gulf. Most people like traditional gulf music.
How do you feel when you hear or listen to music?
2-Some of the music makes me feel relaxed, some of the music makes
me want to sing and dance and some of the music makes me want to cry.
Why do some cultures produce so much music and others so little?
I think the reason why some cultures produce so much music is
because some cultures love music more than others. Maybe it is also

How do most people in your country learn about world news?
In my country there are many ways to learn about world news. You
can watch or read the news online, you can read a newspaper and
you can listen to the radio. I think the most popular way of receiving

through social media like Twitter and Facebook. It’s very convenient for me.
How has the reporting of news changed in the last fifty years?
That’s an interesting question. 50 years ago the news was reported by
radio. People didn’t have internet and not many people had TVs.
Radio was very important 50 years ago worldwide. People could listen
to the radio at home, in their cars or in the restaurant. Task 3
What do you see in the two pictures?
In the first picture I can see a wonderful beach. The water is blue.
It looks clear and clean. I think it’s a popular beach because
people have walked on the sand. But there are no people in the
picture. It’s a beautiful sight.
The second picture is quite different. It is also showing nature but
this is a field. It looks like a farm or a place where animals live. I
can see a barn on the left side, but I can’t see any animals. I
think a cowboy lives here. There is a hat and a gun in the front of
the picture. I can also see many trees in the background.

I think children would prefer the beach because at the beach there
are many activities for children. They can play in the sand and make
sand castles. They can go swimming and they can play with a ball. I
want to go to the beach in the weekend with my children and we can
have a barbecue. Sometimes we go Half Moon beach by car.
Which of these two places would you prefer to go on holiday? Why?
I would like to go to the beach for a holiday because I can do many
activities on the beach. I can relax and enjoy my free time. I can read
a book, listen to music and lie down in the shade. I can also make a
barbecue with my family and have a nice time. I think the countryside

movie this morning. I usually watch TV at night. It’s a nice way to relax

In my country some children go to school by bus, some children go by
car (with their parents or with a private driver) and some children walk
to school. If the children live near the school they walk. If the children

Is it common to live far from school in your country? Why?
It is not common to live far from school in my country because
there are many schools, so I don’t have to travel far to find a
school. There are private schools and public schools in my
country. The schools are not far from the houses. Also the schools
check where the parents live. The parents should live near the school. Task 3
1-What do you see in the two pictures?
In the first picture I can see many people riding bicycles along a (city)
street. I think it’s a race or competition. There is a man taking
photographs. He’s very close to the riders. He’s wearing a t-shirt, cap
and jeans. In the background I can see many trees.
In the second picture I can see a group of people riding motorcycles. I
think this is also a race. The racers are wearing sports clothes and a
helmet. It looks dangerous. It looks more dangerous than the first sport.

2- What kinds of people play these two sports?
For the first sport, I think all kinds of people do this sport. Young
people and old people. It is a sport that is not very dangerous. It
is also not difficult to learn how to do.
For the second sport, I think only young people do this sport.
Young people like dangerous sports. They think it is fun. They
don’t worry about getting an injury. They like the sound of the
motorcycle and the smell of the petrol. They love the speed. 3-

I think the dirt bike riding is more difficult to do because I don’t
know how to ride a motorbike, I think it’s heavy and I think it’s
more dangerous because it’s faster than a regular bike. You can

Why do you think so many cities have tall buildings?
In 2012 I went to Dubai. I visited the Burj Khalifa. I was very excited to
visit this amazing modern building. I loved seeing whole city from very
high up. The buildings and the people from the Burj Khalifa looked very
tiny. I took some photos with my family/friends. I took a selfie too and
posted it on social media. I think so many cities have tal buildings
because it makes the city look nice and modern. Cities do not have
much space. Tall buildings give more space. More tourists may visit a city with tal buildings. EXAM FIVE
