Our group compareed the society cuisine and education of Eastern culture and Western culture W estern society
Westerners often express their feelings frankly and quickly. Westerners are usually not
late for appointments. Westerners value individual lifestyle. Westerners express their
mood with what they think. Queuing culture: Westerners have learned to do this a long
time ago. At a party: Westerners like to stand in small groups rather than gather in
large groups. On Sundays, Westerners like to stay at home or travel or rest. Ideal
beauty: Western women prefer dark skin. In the West, the boss has a slightly higher
role than the employee but does not impose significant authority. Oriental social culture
Oriental society is an agricultural society. The traditional production of Oriental
societies is basically agricultural production. Greeting culture in the East is quite
disciplined in greeting, when men and women meet each other they bow and bow.
Later on, there is a handshake, not a hug or kiss like in the West. The act of hugging
and kissing is only for people who are in love or husband and wife. Culture way of
life, Oriental people aim to rely on each other to create solidarity. In communication,
Oriental people are delicate like to talk in circles and avoid understatements so as not
to offend others. In the way of dressing, Oriental people dress discreetly, skimpy and
revealing clothes are considered offensive to customs and values of people, especially
women. Oriental people and society place emphasis on rituals, beliefs and ethics, and
must respect elders and people of status. Regarding gender equality, Oriental culture
flavors men over women, women are still considered to only stay at home to raise
children and have no voice in the family and society. Even after many years, that
situation still happens in some countries C ulinary culture
Western culture: According to statistics, 13 main ingredients in Western cuisine such
as butter, milk, eggs - are used in 74.4% of foods. They often care about their health
through eating, even though sometimes the taste is not too delicious. Meat is an
important part of the dish, beef and lamb are two popular types and used in the main
dish served with bread. They often use knives and forks to eat small pieces and limit
conversation at the dinner table. Some typical Western dishes: crepes, foie gras, steak,
cutlets, wine... Prioritize simplicity and speed in food decoration because they have the
concept of Quality over aesthetic.
Eastern culture: When referring to the East, also known as the birthplace of the ''water rice
civilization'', it is impossible not
to mention agricultural products.
'Therefore, in their meals, there
must always be main dishes made
from rice. With a combination of
talent and sophistication, it creates
a very unique culinary color. Not only that, their dishes also pay great attention to
aesthetics. Eastern chefs cook by using many ingredients with popular and similar
flavors. Therefore, it can be seen that the characteristics of oriental dishes are always
very rich in flavor. Oriental cuisine is very diverse in combining common ingredients
and ingredients. Water, sugar, want.. are the top favorite spices. Their meal is also
accompanied by a bowl of liquid juice, which can be shared for many dishes: soy
sauce, soy sauce, spicy sauce, chao... Orientals use chopsticks and spoons to take food
into their cup and eat together, like to talk intimately in the meal to create a feeling of
closeness. Chopsticks and spoons can be used in most Asian dishes. Orientals like to
decorate dishes in an elaborate and meticulous way: round pieces, square pieces,
trimmed, thin like paper... in addition, combining many different ingredients to create
ingredients with eye-made shapes and colors. Their menu is also diverse. Especially in
parties, offerings, the more elaborate and delicate the dish must be. Western education : Education is the process of receiving and transmitting knowledge that takes place throughout each person's life. In particular, the education system is a standardized model and is used as a foundation to help
teachers orient their students' education. This is also a factor that contributes to clearly expressing the culture of each country and
nation. In the West, students are often active and creative. Western schools encourage
students to take initiative and share their ideas. In addition, learners also have the
opportunity to demonstrate their abilities through analyzing and solving problems
themselves. Westerners believe that good education will help form a society where
people can freely express their ideas. So students will evaluate knowledge instead of
memorizing knowledge. Education in the West is always a practical type of education.
At first, children will have difficulty when encountering problems, but once they
understand, they can apply them to similar problems.
Eastern education: For education in the East, the teacher will be responsible for the
effectiveness of the lesson, all materials will be provided by the teacher. Examinations,
discipline, and obedience are emphasized to increase competition among students in a
healthy way in learning. Due to the influence of Confucian culture, teachers also have
the mission of teaching human morality, so students will often obey and respect
teachers and rarely dare to speak their minds freely. Education in the East is more
closed, mostly theoretical, so when children face a problem, they will solve it quickly,
but when they encounter a similar problem, it is difficult to apply.
