PART B- TRUE OR FALSE
I. Read the following passage:
How can we keep our teeth healthy? First, we ought to visit our dentist twice
a year. He can fill the small holes in our teeth before they destroy the teeth. He can
examine our teeth to check that they are growing in the right way. Unfortunately,
many people wait until they have toothache before they see a dentist. Secondly, we
should brush our teeth with a toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste at least twice a
day, once after breakfast and once before we go to bed. We can also use wooden
toothpicks to clean between our teeth after a meal. Thirdly, we should eat food that
is good for our teeth and our body: milk, cheese, fish, brown bread, potatoes, red
rice, vegetables and fresh fruit. Chocolate, sweets, biscuits and cakes are bad,
especially when we eat them between meals. They are harmful because they stick
to our teeth and cause decay.

II. Read the following passage:
13
Doctors tell us to eat more fruits and more vegetables. They tell us to drink
more water and less fizzy drinks. But do we listen? No, we continue to eat lots of
junk food like pizza, sweets, chips, cakes and biscuits.
We are what we eat. If we keep putting bad things into our bodies every day,
like lots of fats and sugar, we will see bad things happen to our body. Unhealthy
food makes your body unhealthy. When you get older you start to have a lot of
problems like heart diseases. We only think that burgers taste better than salad. We
think that the juice we buy from the supermarket is more delicious than the juice
we make at home. Burgers, French Fries and fizzy drinks may be delicious but
they haven’t got enough vitamins and minerals. Your body needs vitamins and
minerals to grow healthy. Healthy food gives our body the vitamins and the
minerals it needs.
People eat junk food because it is tasty but everybody can have a tasty meal
at home. The only problem is that buying fresh products and cooking takes time.
And people prefer to spend time doing other activities such as watching films,
meeting friends, walking in parks and so on. I also like to do these activities but I
am very careful of my body. If you want to be healthy, you should eat healthy food
every day!
Decide the following sentences True (T) or False (F):
1. Junk food has got enough vitamins and minerals. T F
2. People think that cooking takes their time. T F
3. People prefer cooking healthy food to meeting friend. T F
4. The writer likes watching films. T F
5. We should eat healthy food everyday. T F

We eat a lot of rice, noodles, vegetables and meat. We fry or steam a lot of our

In China, people don’t usually eat with knives and forks. Instead we use
chopsticks and we sometimes use spoons.
14
We usually eat from big serving dishes. We put them in the middle of the
table, but we sometimes serve portions of rice in small bowls. In China, we don’t
think it’s rude to reach across the table to take food from serving dishes.
We think it is rude to take the last piece of food from a serving dish for
yourself. We offer it to another person instead. That is very polite.
When your bowl is empty, someone gives you more food. When you are
full, you put your hand over your bowl or leave some food in your bowl. We don’t
put our chopsticks on top of our bowls. We put them on the table next to us when
we finish eating. We don’t use napkins, but we usually clean our hands with hot
towels at the end of the meal.
