and get started.
Celine (46): Hello, everyone! My name is Celine, the secretary for today's
meeting. As you can see on the screen, we are focusing on today's important
topic, which is Conference Organization. And the group [6] wishes to discuss
a scenario based on the multinational corporation Unilever headquartered in
London, United Kingdom. The company has decided to host an international
conference, and this meeting will help us choose a suitable venue for the
upcoming event. We have four scenes for this situation:
SCENE 1: The CFO will present the 2022 report, followed by comments
from the CEO and the conference organization goals. The secretary will
provide crucial information for selecting the conference venue.
SCENE 2: Representatives from various hotels will present their properties
at the considered locations.
SCENE 3: Discussion of the pros and cons. Then, the director will make a
decision and conclude the meeting.
SCENE 4: After private deliberation time, we will return to the meeting
room to hear the CEO announce the decision and the scoring of each hotel.
On the company's side, we have the special attendance of the CEO - Lowi and
the participation of the CFO of Unilever Corporation. On the hotel
representatives' side, we have the presence of Ms. Clorinde from W
Barcelona, Ms. Melia from Hilton Da Nang Hotel, the representative from JW
Marriott Hotel - Katty, and finally, Director John from The Ritz-Carlton

SCENE 1: The CFO will present the 2022 report, followed by comments
from the CEO and the conference organization goals. The secretary will
provide crucial information for selecting the conference venue.
1. CFO will report the last year’s financial of Unilever company.
CFO: Hi everyone, I am Bald, the Chief Financial Officer of the company.
Since I have to travel abroad for work, I cannot report directly, so I ask
permission to report my finances online. Sorry for the inconvenience. Before
starting the meeting today I will report the total revenue of the company in the
past
year
so
that
we
have
the
most
overview
of
the
challenges
and
opportunities the company faces.
According to the latest financial report, the company achieved revenue of
$63.293 billion in the 12 months ended on December 31, 2022. This is an
impressive result, showing a 2.01% growth compared to 2021. The company
overcame the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and continues to
strengthen its leadership in the consumer goods industry. The company has
focused on product innovation, market expansion, and improving operational
efficiency.
The
company

also
demonstrated
social
responsibility

supporting communities, employees, and business partners during difficult
times.

2. The CEO will give comments and state the aims when organizing
the meeting.
Lowi (22): Thanks for your report, Bald. For those of you who don’t know
me. Hello! I am Lowi. As you may know, I am the company's Chief Executive
Officer. Although our company faced many difficulties in the past year,
thanks to everyone's tireless efforts, we overcame them and achieved certain
achievements today and will continue to develop in the future. As in previous
years, the company decided to organize a sales conference with the following
purposes:
Firstly, Discuss how the company can improve its products and
services.
Secondly, Thank managers for their hard work.
Finally, Give managers the opportunity to get to know each other
better.
Next, before having managers survey the employees, I would like to invite
Celine to provide the necessary information to choose the location for the next
conference.
3. Secretary talked about the quantity, requirements and the budget.
After that, the managers will survey their employees to choose a hotel.

Hilton Da Nang Hotel. I am honored to be one of the hotels your company
chooses to trust. As per your company’s request, today I would like to
represent our hotel to provide more detailed information about the hotel's
services and facilities. So, let’s start right now.
Hilton Da Nang Hotel is in the city center, a 10-minute drive from Da Nang
International Airport. This helps conference guests move conveniently. Hilton
consists of 28 floors, facing the Han River. Overall, the hotel is designed with
the beauty of luxury and impression, with the overall space and every small
detail inside the hotel being arranged very beautifully and delicately.
The hotel has about 220 rooms with panoramic views of the romantic Han

The first thing I want to tell you about The Ritz-Carlton is its location. It is
located in Toronto, Canada. From the moment you arrive at our downtown
Toronto luxury hotel, you will begin to explore the city’s cosmopolitan culture
through taste, touch, sight, smell and sound. The Hotel is near the city's
captivating highlights and hidden gems, approximately 1km to the harbor.

summarized the information and have the following evaluations:
Regarding the W Barcelona Hotel, due to its beachfront location and
entertainment events, there may be some noise in certain hotel rooms, which
could potentially affect the tranquility of some guests.
Two weaknesses of the JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort And Spa
include its distance from Phu Quoc Airport (18 km) and its separation from
the downtown area of Phu Quoc at night. This distance can create
inconvenience for transportation.
The primary drawback of The Ritz-Carlton in Toronto is its relatively high
pricing, which may exceed the budget of many individuals. Additionally,
participation in outdoor entertainment activities may require extra time and
effort, as the hotel is located far from the city center.
The key advantages of the Hilton Da Nang Hotel include its convenient
location, elegant architecture, rooms with beautiful views, diverse dining
options, fitness and entertainment amenities, proximity to important tourist
destinations, excellent conference facilities, and positive feedback from
travelers.
Therefore, I believe that the Hilton Da Nang Hotel is the most suitable choice
for us this time.
Lowi (22): In my assessment, both the W Barcelona Hotel and the Hilton Da
Nang Hotel meet our requirements. Let's compare these two hotels in terms of
customer satisfaction when experiencing their services.

Celine (46): W Barcelona Hotel: Vibrant and lively ambiance, known for
nightlife and entertainment, but some occasional noise disturbances due to its
popularity may affect tranquility.
Hilton Da Nang Hotel: Convenient location, elegant design, and positive
feedback, with high ratings for staff service, room quality, cleanliness, and
food, making it a well-regarded choice.
Lowi (22): I think we should choose the Hilton Da Nang Hotel.
SCENE 4: After private deliberation time, we will return to the meeting
room to hear the CEO announce the decision and the scoring of each
hotel.
Give the final results and the transcripts of each hotel
Lowi (22): Thank all the hotel representatives who took their valuable time to
attend the meeting with us. It is also tough for us to choose a suitable hotel to
hold the upcoming conference because all the hotels have their advantages
and their uniqueness. After the private meeting, we agreed to score according
to a table including the following criteria: location, access, conference
facilities, bedrooms, entertainment, restaurants, leisure, price, and total. This
table will be calculated on a 4 - point scale, the lowest will be 1 and the
highest will be 4. Finally, with 23 points, we chose the Hilton Da Nang Hotel.
Katty (37): Why did you choose the Hilton Da Nang Hotel instead of the
others?
Lowi (22): We rely on criteria consistent with the goals we initially set out
which are conference facilities, entertainment and price. Based on those
criteria, I think the Hilton Da Nang Hotel meets the criteria, so we decided to
choose this hotel. Do the remaining representatives have any comments?
Clorinde (20): I don't have any thoughts on this decision. Thank you!
