During the Cold War which started in 1947 and finished in 1991, the United States has versus
rivalled the Soviet Union in the field of space explora@on. ACer this event, many other
countries have taken part in this programme and wasted big number huge amount of
dol ars. In my opinion, authori@es can use that money on solving social problems instead.
Firstly, governments should use their money to upgrade countries’ infrastructure. They can
update transport systems which make the life of the populous easier and more convenient.
For instance, if we have more bus stops around the downtown, residents can catch a bus
with ease. Otherwise, they can improve the health care system especially in the Covid-19
outbreak, it should be the priority. More hospitals are built, fewer people die. Moreover, the
amenity is like/akin to the face of a country, therefore, governments should consider using these money effec@vely.
Secondly, authori@es can spend their budget on helping the poors who need it the most.
Many people are unable to feed themselves so having a subsidy is exigent. When
impoverished people are not malnourished, the crime rate wil decrease significantly.
Government also can use that money to operate more factories or companies where
paupers can apply for a job. ACer that, community do not need to care for them because
they can stand on their own two feet. These public companies can contribute to country
finance and the cash flow can go back to the government.
There are a number of reasons why it is il -advised for states to pour resources on space
explora@on. The chance of success is minimal compared to the sheer amount of money
invested. Case in point: The failed launching of Apol o 13 with exploded when it was taking
off, the search for extraterrestrial life has cost a fortune without bearing any result.
In conclusion, spending tons of dol ars each year on space strategies are wasteful while you
can use that money on dealing with other serious problems.
