Vietnamese goods and Chinese imports.
Smuggled food products from China are still being sold nationwide. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development
(MARD) believes that in order to have a safe food source, there needs to be cooperation among various ministries,

Mr. Vu Van Tam, Deputy Minister of MARD (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), stated that the smuggling of
food products from China has a negative impact on domestic production. However, only during disease outbreaks do
veterinary agencies participate in inspections at checkpoints; otherwise, there is no law allowing veterinary inspections of goods.
Regarding the role of agricultural inspectors in controlling food at markets, Mr. Tam affirmed that MARD has assigned the
responsibility for food safety control to local authorities. Therefore, inspections will be carried out by local governments.
According to Mr. Tam, the most important thing is whether or not local authorities participate.
If local authorities do not get involved, it will be difficult to achieve effective results as consumers will not actively condemn low-quality products.
To combat smuggling, the Hanoi Department of Trade emphasizes the need for clean law enforcement. If anti-smuggling
forces are not clean, it is as if we cannot control the border, and it will also be impossible to monitor the thousands of
small traders in the area. Faced with the widespread influx of smuggled Chinese goods into our country, Mr. Phu believes
that the reason is their very low prices, which domestic goods cannot compete with. Additionally, another reason is that
