Writing topics: Differences between living in the city and in the country.
Part 1: Make a detailed essay outline.
Living in the city and in the country give me many different impressions:
1. Air:
City: polluted, a lot of emissions from vehicles.
Country: fresh, comfortable, cool.
2. Prices and market:
City: expensive, variety of items can be bought.
Country: cheap, little things are sold, fresh food…
3. Facilities:
City: modern systems to manage transportation, housing, schooling…
Country: doesn’t have many amenities.
4. Appearance
City: a lot of skyscrapers, buildings, busy, traffic jam…
Country: many fields with a lot of trees, peaceful.
Part 2: Write a contrastive essay of at least 250 words, using your detailed
outline in Part 1.
Living in the city and the countryside bring people much different experience
due to the geographical area. And making a choice between city and country is a
tough decision since both have their own benefits and drawbacks.
In the first place, the main difference is the air. While the atmosphere in the
city is polluted due to the emissions from the vehicles, in the countryside, you
can always enjoy the fresh and comfortable feeling in the air as there are fewer
cars and motorbikes here.
1
Next, prices and markets are also distinctive factors between city and
country. The cost of living in the city is always higher than that in the country
with a variety of items can be bought when in the country, you can buy less
goods but with a cheaper price. A special thing is that in the countryside you can
always buy a lot of fresh food and vegetables, which are grown and harvested
right in the fields.
Another difference is the facilities between city and country. In the city, you
can see that there are many modern and developed systems are set to manage
transportation, housing and schooling… But in the countryside, it is so limited
that you do not have many chances to interact with modern amenities since they
are not always available.
Finally, one important difference between two places is the appearance.
When you come to the city, you can always see there are skyscrapers and
buildings everywhere, and people here are very busy with their personal work.
There are a lot of vehicles in the streets too, and this leads to traffic jams in rush
hours. In contrast to the city, the landscape in the countryside is easier to see
and airy with immense fields and lots of green trees. Living in the country is
more peaceful than that in the city.
In conclusion, living in the countryside or in the city has its own benefits and
disadvantages, so you should accept the discomforts that your current place
brings.
