EIC 6 – Test Format and Content (starting Sem 20.2B)
Textbook: English File Intermediate Plus 3e, Units: 6-10
There are TWO major tests in a semester: Midterm Test and Final test. In each major test, the Speaking Test and the Written Test are conducted on two separate dates.
Students have 90 minutes for the Midterm and 170 minutes for the Final (Aptis test). *MIDTERM A. Written Test
There are 5 sections in the Written Test, including Listening, Vocabulary, Grammar, Reading and Writing with a total of 80 marks. Skills
Midterm (90 minutes), Units 6-8
Part 1: Students listen to this part ONCE only. The audio is taken from English File Intermediate Plus 3e, student’s book Listening
or workbook. This part contains 10 multiple choice questions. (20 marks)
Part 2: The audio is played TWICE. The audio is taken from . This part con another textbook (B1+) tains 10 multiple choice questions. Vocabular
This section contains 10 multiple choice questions. All the words/phrases in the section are taken from the English File y (10
Intermediate Plus 3e student’s book, including Vocabulary Bank, and workbook. marks) Grammar
This section contains 10 multiple choice questions. All the grammar points in the section are taken from English File (10 marks)

Part 1: The text is taken from English File Intermediate Plus 3e, student’s book or workbook. This part contains 10 Reading
multiple choice questions. (20 marks)
Part 2: The text is taken from another textbook (B1+). This part contains 10 multiple choice questions. Writing
Students can choose ONE of the two topics to complete the composition for a maximum score of 20 marks. (20 marks) B. Speaking Test
Students can get a maximum score of 20 marks.
It takes each student 4 minutes to make a short talk based on the topic given by the examiner and answer follow-up questions. Students wait at a designated area and
are called to testing rooms by corridor monitors. The student’s performance is scored on a scale of 0 to 20 marks, based on 4 criteria: fluency, vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation.
