The charts show data on educational levels according to age and gender in Glasgow in 2010.
Overall, the highest percentage of those with university degrees were in the 25-34 age
group. There were no significant gender differences in educational level.
Only 9% of those aged 16-24 and 12% of 25-34 year-olds had no qualifications. The
proportion without qualifications more than doubled to 26% in the 35-44 age group,
and then rose steadily, reaching 72% of the over 75s. The highest figure for those
with school certificates was 66% for the 16-24 year-olds, while the lowest figures
were among the 60-74 and over 75 age groups, at 27% and 19% respectively. In
contrast, 53% of those aged 25-34 had university degrees, compared with just one
quarter of those aged 16-24. There was then a steady fall, from 36% of those aged 35-
44 to only 9% of the over 75s.
The pie charts show that 39% of men and 39% of women had school certificates, 32%
of women and 29% of men had no qualifications, and 32% of men and 29% of women had university degrees. 184 words.
