In some nations, it is popular for students to work during their
university time. Although this phenomenon brings several
benefits, the drawbacks should not be overlooked.
The benefits of working in college’ time are various. For one
thing, it can help young people to earn some money to cover
daily expenses. As a result, they can become financially self-
reliant and no longer depend on parents’ financial support. For
another thing, they can gain hands-on experience and learn some
essential life skills such as presentation skills, interpersonal and
teamworking skills. When people come into contact with
different people, they will have chance to enlarge their
knowledge of many aspects of life in order to a solid foundation
for their future work to thrive.
Nevertheless, the drawbacks of work during university time
should be taken into consideration. Firstly, people can be
distracted from their studies due to heavy workload. If people
deal with tasks at the work place, they cannot pay full attention
to their study due to noise or their job. As a consequence, they
will study ineffectively and receive poor academic results.
Secondly, people who are not experienced can be subject to
fraudulent businesses and get involved in criminal activities
from fraud, theft to illegal business. As a result, their future
being ruined. The bigger their mistake is, the higher price they have to pay for.
Conclusion, although doing jobs in university time may bring
some obvious disadvantage, I would contend that the
advantages are still outweighed by the disadvantages.
