It is believed that remote learning is superior to traditional classroom. I disagree
with this statement since I think both methods have their advantages.
On the one hand, learning remotely has many benefits for a learner. Firstly, online
lessons are extremely flexible. For instance, we can purchase courses and study
anytime we want; therefore, we have more freedom to balance education and other
activities. Secondly, it is possible to learn remotely from anywhere with internet
access in any educational platform around the globe. To illustrate, before, students
had to go to England if they wanted to get a British degree; which makes this option
less attractive for people with a limited budget. Therefore, learning online is cost- effective and time-efficient.
On the other hand, classroom education can offer better social skills. For example, if
students study in one group and see each other every day, their interpersonal skills
are greatly developed. Clearly, social skills play an important part in our careers and
mental health. Moreover, it is impossible to learn such subjects as medicine and
engineering with the help of online classes only, because the emphasis is on
practical purposes, not theories. For this reason, in-person education is beneficial to the learning process.
To sum up, both methods of learning are useful in their own way, which makes it
difficult to prove that one is better than the other. Therefore, I believe that everyone
should learn how to balance online and classroom education in order to benefit from both of them.
Topic 6. Men do most of the high-level jobs. Should the government encourage
a certain percentage of these jobs to be reserved for women? What is your
opinion on that?
Men often hold high-level jobs such as CEOs and politicians whereas women face
hurdles to getting these positions. Whether the government should set aside a certain
number of these jobs for women is a debated topic with strong arguments on both sides.
People who support reserving high-level jobs for women say it helps fix the gender
imbalance in leadership roles, where women have been historically left out.
Reserving jobs provides women more chances to show their leadership abilities,
which can help get rid of gender biases and unfair ideas. Also, having more women
leaders brings different ideas to decision-making. Studies show that women are
more likely to propose policies that help groups who have been mistreated, so
reserving high-level jobs for women is important to make sure everyone has a chance to be involved in decision-making.
However, people who are against reserving high-level jobs for women say it's not
fair to give women special treatment over men. They believe that everyone should
be judged based on their skills and qualifications, no matter if they are a man or a
woman. Also, some people think that reserving jobs for women could make it seem
like women need extra help to do well, which might make it harder for them to get
ahead based on their own abilities. This could hurt women's efforts to achieve fairness at work.
In summary, it's important for everyone to have the same chances to learn and work,
no matter their gender, to achieve fairness between genders. To do this, we should
make sure there are diverse people in the workplace and address the reasons why
some people get treated unfairly, instead of just setting aside top jobs for women.
