A. Goal of The Practice Session
The goal of this case study is to demonstrate that you are able to build a distribution strategy
You will imagine that you work at a company that have many stores and you need to directly distribute
the product to stores. The development of the store chain model raises many questions in optimizing the
Logistics problem throughout the system to achieve the highest efficiency. Especially, for big cities like Ho
Chi Minh City, the number of stores is increasing. So which option would fit the transport problem in this big city? B. Requirement
You are the Logistics specialist of CVS chain 7-eleven. All ambient products including consumer packaged
goods, food & beverage… are stored in Distribution Center (DC). You will have to design your own map
for trucks from DC to your stores to achieve the highest efficiency with lowest possible cost.
You will be required to submit a report, in which three parts must be included. These are:
1. The image file containing a map of your proposed distribution strategy.
2. The table showing all the information as the given sample in C-Instructions, which describes the
delivery time from distribution center to each store
3. Explanation on step by step to have the results of 1 and 2 C. Instruction
Follow the instructions below to prepare your answer:
1. Distribution Center is Tay Nam warehouse, located in District 12, HCMC. Here is the location on the

2. You need to arrange a number of trucks a day for the materials delivery to each store. The total of

3. You decide the number of trucks used, the number of drop points per truck every day.
4. Type of picking: piece picking, carton picking, drying material. A hand lift can be accompanied with
the driver when reaching the store for unloading cargo. 2

5. Order per store: 100-200kg/day. You should decide type of truck used (for example 1-ton truck,
2.5-ton truck..), paying attention to the transport regulation within HCMC zone. The more trucks used; the more cost incurred.
6. The stores only receive cargos at night time, from 21:00 to 6:00 the next morning. No break. Each
truck is allowed to remain at the store for maximum 60 minutes.
7. The trucks need to return to the distribution center at before 7:00AM
8. You can use various tools, but you would use Google Maps as it would be freely accessible to

As a logistics specialist, state what you should be taken into account when designing such routes and
what others (warehouse staff, drivers, store staff) should pay attention so that the plan can successfully implemented. 3
