VSTEP Speaking part 1 (Tương tác xã hội – Social Interaction)
Một số từ để hỏi quen thuộc, học viên phải thuộc những từ để hỏi này thì mới hiểu
được câu hỏi của đề nói, khi đọc câu hỏi phải thật chú ý đến từ để hỏi, động từ, nhìn
vào đó để mình biết được câu hỏi hỏi về gì. Có 2 loại câu hỏi:
Yes/No Questions: Do you? Have you? Did you? Are you? WH-Questions
1. Who: Đây là từ dùng để hỏi về người. (Ai)
Ví dụ: 1. Who are you close to in your family? Close: gần gũi, trong gia đình bạn ai là
người gần gũi với bạn?
Ví dụ 2. If you were going on a long trip, Who would you go with? Nếu bạn đi 1 chuyến đi
nghỉ dài, bạn sẽ muốn đi cùng ai?
Ví dụ 3. Who do you live with?
2. Where: Đây là từ dùng để hỏi về vị trí, địa điểm. Nơi nào
Ví dụ 1: Where is your hometown? (quê của bạn ở đâu)
Ví dụ 2: Where are you going this weekend? (cuối tuần) đi đâu vào ngày cuối tuần; Where were you born?
3. When: Đây là từ dùng để hỏi về thời gian. Khi nào
Ví dụ: When were you born? Ngày tháng năm sinh: I was born on 14th, August, 1990
When is your birthday? Ngày sinh nhật: It is on 14th August
4. What: Đây là từ dùng để hỏi thông tin về một thứ hay một vấn đề nào đó, nó cũng được
sử dụng để hỏi ai đó nhằm xác định thông tin chính xác hay nhắc lại về điều vừa nói. What time: Mấy giờ
Ví dụ 1: What time do you get up? (Bạn thức dậy lúc mấy giờ?)
Trả lời: a.m: buổi sáng; p.m: buổi chiều và tối; o’clock: giờ đúng; giới từ đi kèm giờ là AT– I get up at 6 a.m
Ví dụ 2: What time do you wake up? Thức dậy nhưng vẫn ở trên giường
Ví dụ 3: What time do you go to work? Mấy giờ đi làm
Ví dụ 4: What time do you have breakfast/lunch/dinner? Mấy giờ ăn sáng
Ví dụ 5: What do you like doing in your free time?
1. What is your mother like? Hỏi về mẹ bạn như thế nào, tính cách? She is friendly
(thân thiện), helpful, kind (tốt bụng), generous, nice, caring, creative, hard working (chăm chỉ)
2. What does your mother like? Câu hỏi mẹ bạn thích gì, sở thích? She likes cooking; shopping; watching TV. 1
3. What does your mother look like? Mẹ bạn hình dáng ntn? Ngoại hình? She is beautiful,
pretty; good looking (ưa nhìn). She is tall and slim (mảnh mai); thin; She has black eyes and
long/short dark hair. / He is handsome What kind of (loại gì)?
What kind of music do you like?
What kind of sports do you like? What kind of films?
What kind of books? ….. Loại gì?
What for: Đây là từ dùng để hỏi về một mục đích
Ví dụ: What do you use your mobile phone for/ What do you use the Internet for?
(Dùng điện thoại/ Internet để làm gì)
In what ways: = How (như thế nào?)
Ví dụ 1. In what ways has children’s English much improved nowadays? (Ngày nay tiếng
anh của trẻ em được cải thiện nhiều như thế nào?) improve speaking and listening skills;
learn Eng from early ages (kindergarten); study in the English centres; study E with foreign
teachers; study English online or on the Internet
Ví dụ 2. In what ways is café a great place for people to enjoy their free time? (Quán cà phê
là nơi tuyệt vời cho mọi người tận hưởng thời gian rảnh rỗi như thế nào?) Relax after hard
working hours; make new friends; talk to each other/chat with each other about work, study,

5. Why: Đây là từ dùng để hỏi về nguyên nhân của sự việc.
Để trả lời cho câu hỏi “why” ta thường bắt đầu bằng từ “Because /bɪˈkɒz/
…”/ cause /kɔːz/ (Interesting /ˈɪntrəstɪŋ//ˈɪntrestɪŋ/ / restaurant /ˈrestrɑːnt/
/ˈrestərɑːnt/ / history /ˈhɪstri/ /interest /ˈɪntrəst/ /ˈɪntrest/)
6. Which: Đây là từ dùng để hỏi khi muốn biết đáp án của một sự lựa chọn nào đó. Cái nào trong 2 cái
Ví dụ: Which season do you like, summer or winter?
7. How: Đây là từ dùng để hỏi về cách thức, đặc tính, tính cách của chủ thể.
How: hỏi về phương tiện
Ví dụ: How do you go to work? How do you go to school? Hỏi về phương tiện đi lại?
How long: Đây là từ dùng để hỏi về thời gian. Bao lâu (hỏi về thời gian bao lâu: tính bằng
giờ, phút, giây, ngày, tháng, năm)
Ví dụ: 1. How long have you been learning English? Bạn học tiếng anh bao lâu rồi? 2
2. How long have you been living in your house?
How far: Đây là từ dùng để hỏi về khoảng cách, nó thường đi cùng với “from”. Bao xa
Ví dụ 1: How far is it from your house to museum? (Khoảng cách từ nhà bạn đến bảo tàng là bao xa?)
Ví dụ 2: How far is it from your house to your office? Từ nhà đến văn phòng bao xa

Km: kilometer /kɪˈlɒmɪtə(r)/ m: meter
How much/many: Đây là cụm từ dùng để hỏi về số lượng. Với những danh từ không đếm
được ta dùng “how much” và với những danh từ đếm được ta dùng “how many”.
Ví dụ 1: How many people are there in your English class? (Có bao nhiêu người trong lớp
học tiếng Anh của bạn?)
Ví dụ 2: How much time do you go shopping every week? I spend 2 hours going shopping every week

Speaking part 1 (Tương tác xã hội – Social Interaction)
Thí sinh sẽ trả lời 6 câu hỏi liên quan đến 2 chủ đề quen thuộc, mỗi chủ đề gồm 3 câu
hỏi ví dụ về quê quán, công việc, sở thích, gia đình, …. Mỗi chủ đề chỉ có hơn 1 phút
(1,5 phút) để trả lời 3 câu hỏi nên phải trả lời đúng, nói nhanh, dứt khoát, ko ê a mất
thời gian, để mất thời gian thì sẽ ko có thời gian trả lời các câu sau nữa, học viên phải thật lưu ý điều này.
Phương pháp làm bài: (Trả lời khoảng 2 câu)
 Với câu hỏi YES/NO, trả lời Yes hoặc No; Mở rộng ý khi nói, cung cấp
thêm thông tin; đừng chỉ trả lời Yes hoặc No. Có thể mở rộng ý bằng cách
đưa ra các lý do; ví dụ; giải thích;
 Với câu hỏi WH-questions, phải trả lời đúng yêu cầu của đề bài sau đó mới
mở rộng thêm ý, cung cấp thêm thông tin (lý do, ví dụ, giải thích)
 B1 cung cấp thêm khoảng 1 câu; B2 thêm khoảng 2 câu Ví dụ: 1. Do you read books?
- Yes, I do. I read books for fun and for work. At work, I read a lot of documents (tài
liệu) and reports (báo cáo). When I have free time, I also read my favorite novels (tiểu
thuyết) or comics (truyện tranh).
- Yes, I do. I usually read books in my free time because of 2 mains reasons. Firstly, it
makes me feel relaxed after work. Secondly, reading broadens my mind (mở mang đầu
óc), by reading, I know more about the world around me.
 Dùng các từ nối để liên kết các ý lại với nhau ví dụ because; firstly,

• I like summer because I have a long summer holiday.
• My favorite season is summer because I can eat my favorite food, ice cream.
Moreover, my family can go on summer holiday together when my children are off school.
2. Who are you close to in your family?
- I am close to my mother in my family = Well, I get on very well with = close to (có
mối quan hệ tốt) my mother. She always listens to me and gives me good/useful
advice (cho lời khuyên) when I have problems in my life. Besides (ngoài ra), she is 5
the person whom I can tell my secret to./ I can tell any secret to my mother. (tôi có
thể kể bất kỳ bí mật nào cho mẹ nghe)
- Với trình độ B2: Dùng từ ngữ khác, ví dụ từ đồng nghĩa để trả lời câu hỏi, tránh
lặp lại cấu trúc, từ vựng trong câu hỏi để được điểm cao hơn. (paraphrase) Ví dụ:
1. What do you often do in your free time?
Well, there are many things I often do in my spare time/ leisure time = free time. I have
various/ different interests (sở thích khác nhau). I love watching TV, listening to music
and going shopping with friends at the weekend.

- Well, in my spare/free time I like watching TV. I am busy during the day so I love
watching the news in the evening while our family are having dinner. Besides, I enjoy
listening to music. My favorite kind of music is POP music.
- Whenever I have free time, I usually listen to music. I am a big fan of pop music which
helps me to relax after hard- working days. I also have an interest in reading books. In my
pastime, I usually read some comics.

I am quite busy (bận) during the week. I work from 8 a.m to 5 p.m on weekdays so in the
evening I often cook dinner, stay at home and chat with my family members about what they have done during the day.

When I am out, I often eat out with my family or go for a drink with my friends. Sometimes,
my family go to the park, go shopping.

home and enjoy meals together.

I would say good hobbies are those which bring benefits to people such as reading books or
playing sports. However, spending too much time on the Internet is a bad hobby because it is not good for your health.

is near my house. There are many interesting books and the price is reasonable./ cheap. It is cheap to buy books there.

the same hobby and it’s a good chance for me to make friends and open the relationship.
3. What do you often buy there? Why? I often buy books and newspapers, novels, school

My father has had the most influence in my life. It is my father who strictly taught me
valuable/good lessons in life and always stands by my side whenever I have trouble. He
really sets a good example for us to follow.

- There are many advantages of travelling. Firstly, travelling broadens our mind. When
you travel, you learn many new things such as new cultures, local people’s ways of life.
Secondly, you can visit many beautiful places and take part in interesting activities. Finally,
travelling helps you relax and it is a great way to spend time with family and friends.

6. Why do so many people travel nowadays? Tại sao ngày nay nhiều người đi du lịch?
- I think nowadays more and more people travel because of several reasons. Firstly,
transportation is much more convenient today such as airplanes, trains, buses are popular and
not too expensive. Secondly, people can earn more money so they might want to travel to
spend time with family and friends and relax after busy working hours.

- There are many beautiful beaches in VN but my favourite one is Da nang because it’s tidy
and clean. Especially the view is fantastic.

long summer holiday. When I go to the beach, I feel very relaxed and live with the nature.

I have visited many places in VietNam such as : Nha Trang, Da Nang, HCM. They are beautiful and exciting.

I prefer to go on holiday overseas because I can explore new places and I can make friends
and open the relationship. Moreover, I can improve my knowledge and open my mind.

There are some advantages of holiday overseas. Firstly, I can experience new place, new
culture, new habits and customs of many countries in the world. Secondly, I can open my knowledge and enrich my mind.
However, there are some disadvantages of holidays overseas. Firstly, it’s very expensive.
Secondly, it’s difficult to communicate with foreigners if we don’t know about the foreign
language. Moreover, when we have oversea holidays, we have to spend much time off from
work and study, so it can have a bad effect on our job and study schedule. Finally, when we
