Many people claim that the Internet has several negative impacts on family life. Do you
agree or disagree with this idea? Write an essay of about 250 words to express your idea.
When it comes to modern technologies, the internet is a contentious issue. Although some argue
that it is harmful to family members, I personally partly agree with this statement for the following reasons.
On the one hand, technology has improved our communication and the way we form and
maintain relationships. Previously, the methods of interaction were very limited because if you
wanted to speak with your friend, you had to go directly to his house or send him a message,
which could take a few days to receive a very inconvenient response. However, thanks to
incredible inventions from brilliant scientists, it is now possible to communicate with relatives
and even the government from the comfort of your own home via email, phones, laptops, and so on.
Despite the benefit listed above, I believe that social media causes more harm than good when it
comes to communication. The overuse of social media deteriorates interpersonal
communication. Many people are so addicted to social networking sites that they constantly stare
at their screens during family dinners without paying attention to the people around them,
causing family members to lose touch. The use of social media has an impact on the way people
speak and write, particularly among young people. Many teenagers nowadays have a habit of
using abbreviated words, which are frequently used in text messages or social media posts,
academic essays, or formal conversations. However, parents' inability to understand what their
child has said leads to family disagreements
Overall, the preceding discussion leads me to the conclusion that, despite the negative effects of
the internet, it also has benefits.
