Everyone has a childhood toy that they are emotionally attached to, well, I am
not an exception. To give you the context, when I was 7, I was in love with a set
of kitchen toys. It was a pack of kitchen tools like a kettle, a pan, several plates,
and cups; oh, forks and a knife also went with the package. Although I liked it, I
didn’t ask my parents for it because I knew our financial condition was not
stable. We had to tighten our belts so as not to slump at the end of the month.
Surprisingly, on my birthday, my parents gave me the toy package. I was
certainly floating on air at that moment, knowing that I had owned my desired
plaything and realizing they had dug deep into their pockets just to meet my wants.
About the plastic kitchen set, it was in hot pink. Well, hot colors have always
attracted me in an instant, so it shouldn’t be strange when my full attention was caught.
After having the kitchen kit, I started to invite friends for my imaginary tea party
or dinner. I even make fake pearls and legos as my cooking ingredients to make the food.
Come to think of it, it was my favorite toy as I usually took it out to play the
most mainly because I could call the neighbor kids to come over. I still keep the
set until this day, but then I gave it to my niece when she reached 4 since I also
want her to sense the joy that I had years ago.

To be honest, I hadn’t held a birthday party for a long time. Basically, it was
because I found this kind of event disturbing. However, last year, with a sudden
shift, I invited my friends over to my house to celebrate my birthday as I wanted
to bond with my friends and colleagues. For that reason, they gave me a
tiramisu, which was mouth-watering from the outside to the inside.
I remember the side of the cake was covered by ladyfingers and the top was
dusted with cacao powder. I would say the decoration of the dessert was
minimal, but chocolate – related food has always been my Achilles heel, so even
if it was that simple, I would still appreciate it.
Contrary to the look of the cake, the flavor of the tiramisu was rich. I could taste
the mild sweetness of mascarpone, the slight bitterness of cocoa and the light
espresso soaked in ladyfingers. At that moment, I thought to myself why I hadn’t
done this more often with my friends. Besides the cake, I also prepared other
food and drinks to serve the guests, such as wine, fruits, and snacks. That
evening had a convivial atmosphere as we had time to socialize instead of

Generally, the tiramisu cake connected closely to my special event, my birthday,
so it somewhat became one of the best parts of that day. Would I like to

I’m going to talk about a polo shirt, which is one of the most important pieces of
clothing in my closet. As far back as I can remember, it was a present from my
mum when I turned 16, and I have used it since then.
I would say that I am not really fashion-conscious, and I don’t feel like keeping
up with the latest trend. But I did realize that it was a TBO polo, which is a
very prominent local brand in Vietnam. The T-shirt is plain white, with a tiny
hand embroidered cow in the upper left corner. Besides, it’s made from cotton,
hence very durable and perfect for the humid summer. I must say that it is
really minimal and exactly to my liking.
To be honest, it is my most favorite item and it does go well with everything. I
can match it with any kind of skirt or pants like jeans, trousers, and overalls. In
fact, it also makes a perfect outer layer for a winter outfit. However, despite
its practicality and versatility, I still don’t wear it too often. As it is white, the
T-shirt is really difficult to keep clean. Therefore, I only choose to wear it on
special occasions such as a date, a family meeting, or an interview, like a way to boost my self-confidence.
All in all, it’s a very meaningful gift from someone I really adore, so I will
treasure and continue wearing it in the future. In fact, I don’t think that it will
ever be out of fashion, so it’s an easy call.
