Schools are no longer necessary because children can get so much information
available through the Internet, and they can study just as well at home. To what
extent do you agree or disagree?
Nowadays, with the development of technology, many tools are very useful for
children’s learning. One of the most common tools is the Internet. By there,
children can get so much information available instead of going to school. Many
people say that schools are no longer necessary and children can study just as
well at home. In my opinion, most of the children must study in traditional
schools because of their important roles. However, online learning can be applied
to some particular groups.
It can not be denied the benefits of traditional schools. Firstly, some people might
say the information sources are more diverse and available on the Internet
compared with books and documents. However, this information is uncensored
and cannot be controlled. Children can expose to fake information, even violent
or misbehavior content. In contrast, the curriculum in schools is always
standardized by the government and experts. For this reason, we never worry
about what our children learn in schools. Secondly, extra-curricular activities are
also important things, which can not be replaced by online courses. By
participating in these activities, children can improve their soft skills such as
teamwork skills, communication skills, and so on. Although some people assume
that it can be organized via social media, the real interaction between each child
is irreplaceable.
On the other hand, there are also some drawbacks to online learning. Firstly, it is
enable for small children to study on the Internet. They can not use a computer or
smartphone to take part in the course. It means that parents always need to
spend their time for preparation and monitoring. Currently, this will become a
significant disadvantage. Secondly, children can suffer from many physical and
mental problems because they only sit in front of the screen instead of
participating in physical activities.
Nevertheless, as I mentioned above, online learning can be applied to some
particular groups. For example, disabled children, who are difficult to access the
traditional classroom, can apply for an online course. They don’t need to go to
school but they still gain the knowledge.
In conclusion, the role of technology in our life is wider and wider and more
important, especially in the education domain. Technology and the Internet may
become useful tools, however, the importance of traditional schools is
indispensable.
