WORK
Negatives of allowing people to work to any age they want
- allowing workers who are beyond retirement age can bring negatwe
effects for society
- old employees are no longer flexible and clear - headed to adapt to new
breakthroughs in technology and working procedures is the workplace
and therefore their performance may suffer
- Old labour force can lead to a rise in unemployment because when an old
employee keeps working in a position , a university graduate who has
relevant qualifications and is willing to work longer hours will lose one
chance to get an occupation
- old people are may be unable to continue working in their current roles at
the pace required, so they need to be offered less strenuous professions
and this can result in unbalance in labour market.
Postitives of allowing people to work to any age they want
- countries applying this policy will gain more than they lose , especially
for nations experiencing aging populations
- In many parts of the world , such as Japan or some European nations,
populations are growing older and there are more people who are eligible
to receive a pension
- The proportion of young people become smaller and this causes a severe
Shortage of workforce who pay taxes in many fields, ranging from
agriculture manufacturing to office work
- Governments will receive less money in taxes and they may be at risk of
not having enough budgets to invest in infrastructure and public services
in order to meet the public’s demand
- Therefore, increasing retirement age is a simple but effective solution to
aging population in some countries
- Nowadays, people of this age are still healthy enough to continue a
productve working life
Reasons why many people work longer hours
- life is becoming increasingly complex and difficult due to the rising cost
of living, and this requires people to work hard with longer hours to be
able to earn a “living wage" and raise a family
- People in modern society are extremely ambitious to lead a glamorous
and luxurious life, enjoy delicacies, travel to world-renowned tourist
destinations, live in a magnificent mansion or allow their child to study in
prestigious institutions abroad.
- This forces them to apply themselves to working constantly to make large
sums of money quickly in order to meet their needs.
- some people simply become obsessed with perfection, outcompeting
others or being the best, so they become workaholics without any
recreation
- technological innovations allow work no longer to be restricted to offices;
therefore, enterprises start to exploit employees by giving loads of work
and encourage them to do further assignments at home
problems of working longer hours
- drawbacks should not be overlooked.
- A main concern is to take a heavy toll on workers' mental and physical
well-being.
- It has been shown that an unbalanced life with a lack of suficient rest can
renult in long-lasting stress and irritation
- spending the majority of the day working means that time for exercise
will be sacrified for office hours.
- such a sedentary and unhealthy lifestyle will lead to obesity, spinal
injuries and the risk of strokes
- working overtime, people will neglect their beloved ones, which can
weaken bonds between family members and friends and is detrimental to
people’s spiritual life.
Opinions about whether managers alone should make decisions or
need the involvement of workers
- Managers have adequate knowledge and experience to be able to make
wise and correct decisions, so they do not need the advice of their
employees
- chief executive officers are the ones who have an overarching and solid
understanding of their business, they can therefore make decisions which
are not only beneficial to the company but also appropriate to the
company’s conditions and resources
- The managment of the company is mainly responsible for the prosperity
of the firm, which means that they must ensure that the business takes
right decisions
- The speed of decision making increases when fewer people are involved
in the process
- On the other hand , I believe that the involvement of workers in the
decinon -making process will certainly brings more benefits to the
corporation
- When managers let employees help with decisions, personnel may feel
that their opinions are valued and they have a voice in how the company
is run
- This will motivate and empower workers to contribute to the success of
the organization Asking employees for their opinions can give managers
different perspectives to make well-informed decisions
- This is because they are in the day-to-day trenches, often working more
closely with customers; hence, they know what buyers need and request
- Participation in the decision-making process helps improve the
relationship between senior executives and employees; it also promotes a
strong sense of teamwork among workers.
Opinions about dress code
- many employers have stopped telling their staff how to dress
- Some of the most successful companies in the world, including
technology giants like Google and Facebook, are famous for the relaxed
office environments that they try to create
- Employees are encouraged to dress casually, and even the company
executives and leaders are rarely seen wearing anything other than T-
shirts and jeans
- managers and programmers are free to dress how they like, but they are
expected to produce work of outstanding quality
- the global dominance of such companies proves that strict dress codes are
completely unnecessary in the technology sector
- rules regarding employees' clothing are still essential in other work
situations
- We expect certain professionals, such as nurses, police officers and airline
pilots, to wear uniforms
- These uniforms may have a practical or safety function, but perhaps more
importantly they identify the person’s position or role in society
- a lawyer, politician or school principal may choose to wear formal
clothing in order to portray an image of authority, trustworthiness and
diligence
- most of us prefer to see these professionals in smart, formal attire, even if
it is not strictly necessary
reasons why many people are so studious, industrious
- One key factor that makes people more studious and goal-oriented is
parental pressure.
- Some medical students, for example, are motivated to study hard because
they do not wish to disappoint family members who expect them to
graduate successfully and become doctors
- Some people see hard work as a means to escape poverty or create a
completely new life for themselves
- some people are persistent in study and work because they have found a
subject or job that they truly enjoy; people who love their work describe it
as effortless rather than hard.
Positives and negatives of being studious and industrious
- When a person is described as hard-working, this is almost always seen as
a positive trait or attitude
- In the realm of education, we expect hard workers to diligently follow
instructions, pass their exams, achieve good grades and take their first
steps on the path to a successful career
- in an employment setting, we expect the most motivated, industrious and
committed individuals to rise to the top and become leaders or experts in
their fields
- However, in some people the desire to work hard can become an
unhealthy obsession with perfection, outcompeting others or being the
best
- When people work so hard, they will neglect family and relationships or
become stressed and irritable, and this is detrimental
