1. To learn a language successfully, people need to go to the country where the language is
spoken. Do you agree or disagree? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant

It is true that people must go to the country where the language is spoken to learn it
effectively. Personally, I partly agree with this statement. Learning language in the country
has many advantages but it is not the only way.
Firstly, there are many benefits that learning in foreign country bring about. In foreign
country you can learn anywhere, anytime because everybody around you use that language.
Therefore, you have to use that language to communicate with other people, which help you
have confidence and reflex in communication. Living in foreign country, you can interact
with the language everyday, such as banners on the street, menu in the restaurant, …
However, to master a language, studying abroad is not the only way. You can study language
in your country successfully as well. It is not difficult to find a good teacher or foreign
language center in any country and you can still learn language with foreign teacher in your
country. For example, in FPT university, there is an English teaching program called “Little
UK”(LUK). Like a “little” UK, LUK has some street in UK, English name for classes and
foreign teacher. In LUK area students just can use English: talking to your teacher, friends,
ordering drinks,… and TED team – tutors of LUK will help students when they have difficulties.
In short, studying a new language in a foreign country is the best but studying that language
in your country is also a good way. So, you can choose a way to study language that is
suitable with your budget and you can still gain your target.
2. Some people believe that rapid changes in machine translation software can fully replace
human translators or interpreters. To what extent do you agree or disagree ?

In the age of technology, machine translation software is developing rapidly. Some
people even think that translation software can fully replace human translators or
interpreters. In my opinion, I completely disagree with this point although it is so useful for us.
Firstly, there are many limitations of these software. It can help us to translate words and
some simple sentences. In some situation it can’t give you precise answer with the
contexts that you actually want. Because it works automatically so human translators are
more flexible and that is reason why translation software can’t fully replace human. For
example, the sentence “we home in on a solution” it means “we aim for a solution” but
the result of software is “we go home on a solution”, the sentence become meaningless.
Secondly, languages are also developing and because translation software can not learn
entire the history of languages, slangs and the way to use it. Developer need to update
software frequently, which waste much time of us. The lack of awareness about cultures
is another reason for wrong answers of software. Therefore, human translators and
interpreters are the most optimal to avoid mistakes. Nevertheless, you can use translation
software as a useful tool to help you for your work and your study.
In summary, translation software are created by human and need time to develop. As a
result, it is impossible that these software can fully replace human. But it is still a
convenient tool for us to study a language.
3. Every year several languages die out. Some people think that this is not important
because life will be easier if there are fewer languages in the world. To what extent do
you agree or disagree with this opinion? Give reasons for your answer and include any
relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Imagine that several languages die out and when just a few languages are used and if this
happen, our life will be easier. I partly agree with this point because it brings about a lot of advantages for us.
On the one hand, it facilitates communication between people around the world. You can
travel to a country and you can easily talk to the native people in common language.
Concurrently, this may help you save your money and time because you do not have to
learn other languages. Some people who can not study languages well can break their
barrier when they learn a language and can still communicate with foreign people.
On the other hand, a few languages are used make lots of interpreters and tour guide lost
their job. Many majors relate to linguistic will disappear, which impact on global
economy. Another reason is that language is cultural identity of a country, if they do not
speak mother tongue, they will lost their identity. Thus, it is necessary that we need
preserve tongue languages as a cultural identity. For example, in the Anti-French
Resistance War, French forced Vietnamese to learn and use French but Vietnamese
preserved their language successfully with strong tenacity. In addition, language form our
thinking so fewer languages are speak, we can not think in a diverse way.
In brief, there are many pros and cons if some languages die out. I believe our world can
still develop normally even some languages actually die out.
4. Some people believe governments should spend money in saving languages of few
speakers from dying out completely. Others think this is a waste of financial resources.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
There is no doubt that governments should spend money in protecting some languages
from dying out entirely. Personally, I partly agree with this opinion because I think it is
also a waste of financial resources.
On the one hand, fewer languages are used in the world our life will be easier. We can
communicate with each other in a common language. It boosts trade and acquisition
between countries around the world. Moreover, there are a lot of aspects need
governments’ financial support. Many countries in the world still face with poverty,
unemployment, crime and so on. It is essential that governments spend money to solve
these issues. For example, in Africa there are plenty of poor children need support from
governments, their parents don’t have jobs to make and meet, so they can not go to
school, which is very important with them.
On the other hand, governments should spend money to preserve languages that are
threatened to extinct because it is cultural identity of a country. In fact, some recent study
of linguistic show that languages form and express our thought. Therefore, our thought
can be confined if our languages die out. In addition, some jobs relate to languages such
as interpreters, tour guide, … will not disappear. If these jobs disappear, many people lost
their job and this impact negatively on our economy.
Overall, preserving our languages is very important but we also need think about the
budget and spend money in other aspects that are more appreciate. Business ethics

It’s true that limiting investment in social or environmental initiatives help a company
boost its profits. In my own opinion, I completely disagree with this statement, it is
mandatory because of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Firstly, Corporate social responsibility is a form of international private business self-
regulation which aims to contribute to societal goals of a philanthropic, activist, or
charitable nature by engaging in or supporting volunteering or ethically oriented
practices. For example, Google has demonstrated its commitment to the environment by
investing in renewable energy sources and sustainable offices. Google is trusted not only
for its environmentally friendly initiatives but also due to its outspoken CEO, Sundar
Pichai. He stands up against social issues including President Donald Trump’s anti-
Muslim comments. Google also earned the Reputation Institute’s highest CSR 2018 score
much in part due to their data centers using 50% less energy than others in the world.
They also have committed over $1 billion to renewable energy projects and enable other
businesses to reduce their environmental impact through services such as Gmail.
Secondly, obey CSR help companies build a good image, which attract customers and
investors. Therefore, companies can get much profits and can still invest in social or
environmental initiatives. Another example is Pfizer, during the COVID-19 pandemic,
through its Global Medical Grants program, Pfizer provided $5 million to help improve
the recognition, diagnosis, treatment and management of patients. In addition, grants
were made available to clinics, medical centers and hospitals to improve the management

even it help companies be sustainable and develop stably.
2. Some people believe that doing business internationally carries more risks as it is
likely for businesses to come across unknown obstacles. Do you agree or disagree?
It is true that there are a lot of risks when doing business internationally because
businesses may have to face with unknown obstacles. In my opinion, I totally agree with
this statement and this essay will explain about it.
Firstly, the first risk is cross – cultural risk. Cross-cultural risk refers to a situation or
event where a cultural miscommunication puts some human value at stake. Cross-cultural
risk is posed by differences in language, lifestyles, mindsets, customs, and religion. This
gives differences in business strategies and ineffective relations with customers. Another
one is country risk, it is the potentially adverse effects on company operations and
profitability caused by developments in the political, legal, and economic environment in
a foreign country. Country risk includes the possibility of foreign government
intervention in firms’ business activities. For example, governments may limit access to
markets, limit the amount of earned income that corporations can bring home from foreign operations.
Secondly, commercial risk is a massive problem with firms. Commercial risk is the firm’s
potential loss or failure from poorly developed or executed business strategies, tactics, or
procedures. Managers may make some bad decisions and it strongly affect the company.
For instance, in domestic business a company may terminate a poorly performing
distributor simply with advance notice. However, in a foreign market, terminating
business partners can prove costly due to regulations that protect local firms.
To sum up, there are lots of risks businesses have to deal. It is a big difficulties for
companies when doing business internationally but it is not mean that companies can not
solve these problem and be successful.
3. Most companies should practice some form of corporate social and environmental
responsibility. Do you agree or disagree with the opinion?
It is undeniable that corporate social and environmental responsibility is very important
today. Some people believe that companies need practice some form of corporate social
and environmental responsibility to be successful. In my point of view, I strongly agree with this opinion.
Firstly, a company has environmental responsibility can build a good brand, which draw
customers and investors who want to support the company. Customers and investors have
a strong belief in that companies, they feel safe when invest in these businesses because
their money is used in a responsible way. A firm is responsible for environment can retain
and attract employees. Like investors, people tend to work for a company has good
reputation, they can get good reputation as well when devote to the company. ….
4. Many people argue that an ethical business has more chances to be successful than an
unethical company does. Do you agree or disagree?
It is undeniable that an unethical business has higher profits than an ethical company but
an ethical corporation is more sustainable and has more opportunities to be successful. I
totally agree with this statement because of many reasons.
To begin with, an ethical company can attract customers and get customers' loyalties as
well as employ and retain good staff. According to some recent studies of the psychology
of humans, people tend to work for an ethical business, they think if they work for an
unethical company that means they are not ethical. Because of this, the company can
improve its sales, profits, build a good reputation and develop rapidly.
Secondly, when the company has a good image, it will draw a lot of investors and keep
on developing more and more. It is clear that investors prioritize companies that are
ethical because they will be safe in the knowledge that their money is being used in a
responsible way. Moreover, another important thing is that ethical companies can avoid
legal problems. If a company gets into trouble with legal, it can be fined lots of money
and boycotted by customers. Therefore, the sales of the company decrease even company
can go bankrupt. For instance, in 2017 Formosa company was fined 560 million VND for burying toxic waste.
In conclusion, although an unethical company can bring about good profits but it is not
stable. Thus, an ethical business will have more chances and potential to be successful thanks to society's support.
5. Some people believe that nowadays computers can translate all languages very quickly
and accurately, so learning a foreign language is a waste of time. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Nowadays, technology is developing rapidly, so there are a lot of advance technology can
help human in translating. Thus, some people believe that computers can do this work
greatly and learning a foreign language is a waste of time. Personally, I partly agree with
this statement because of many reasons.
On the one hand, today, computer is very smart with Artificial Intelligence which can
alter human translate any language you want. You can not speak English, you can still
communicate with native people by using translation software, such as Google translate,
Microsoft translate,…. For instance, when you travel to a foreign country, you see a
banner on the street, you want to buy something, but you don’t know how to talk with
other people in native language, translation software will do it. Google lens allow users
use their camera to translate or use voice recognization technology to recognize what you
say and translate it to any language.
On the other hand, translation software are not flexible. It just can translate simple
sentences. In some case, it can not give you accurate answers when the sentence includes
slangs because it works automatically. For example, the sentence “we home in on a
solution” means “we aim for a solution” but the answer is gived by computer is “we go
home on a solution” when you translate it to other languages so human translation is the
best. In addition, languages form and express our thought. Learning a language is still
important, it help people think in diverse way and boost our thought.
In short, computer is very useful in translating but it is not flexible and can not replace
fully human translation so learning languages is still necessary in our life
