 The content and style of emails may diff er from country to country. Here are some questions to think about before you write work-related emails:

1     Who will read your email? In general, emails are either informal (more like spoken English) or formal/semi-formal (similar to a business letter). Emails to senior staff  or people outside of your organisation usually use more formal language than those sent to work colleagues.

2     What style and tone do you need to use? Remember that this sometimes depends on the recipient’s country/culture.

3     How will you organise the information in your email? Always remember to check that the end result is polite and clear.

Apes and the Common Cold

A mysterious illness swept through a community of chimpanzees in Uganda's Kibale National Park, resulting in coughing, sneezing, and even fatalities. A veterinarian named Tony Goldberg seized a rare opportunity to investigate the cause when a chimp named Stella was found freshly dead.

After conducting a thorough necropsy, Goldberg found signs of pneumonia in Stella. Later tests revealed an unexpected suspect: human metapneumovirus (HMPV), a common cold virus in humans. Unfortunately, over 12% of Stella's chimp community died in the outbreak, including her own baby.

This phenomenon, known as reverse zoonosis, refers to the occurrence wherein animals acquire diseases from humans. Great apes are especially vulnerable due to their genetic similarity to humans. In fact, certain ape populations face a greater danger from these diseases compared to the threats of habitat loss or poaching.

My situation is: The youth club in my area is planning to introduce a new activity for teenagers in the community. They are considering three options: drama, chess, and photography

In my opinion, drama is the best option because of the following reasons.

Firstly, drama is meaningful and suitable for teenagers. Through acting, young people can express themselves, improve their confidence, and build teamwork. More importantly, drama can be used to tell stories about our country and history. For example, they can perform plays that reflect national heroes, historical events, or traditional values. This helps teenagers learn more about their roots in a creative and engaging way.a
