Compare the similarities and differences between the mitosis and the meiosis: Similarities
- Same numbers of chromosome at the originated cell. - Are types of cell division.
- Take part in reproduction process.
- Start with a single parent cell
- Have similar basic steps: Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase Differences Mitosis Meiosis
-Include one round of division
-Include two rounds of division -Produce
two diploid daughter cells -Produce four haploid daughter cells identical to
parent cell. unidentical to parent cell due to crossing over. -Occur in somatic cell
-Occur in germ cell, sex cell.
-Take part in asexual reproduction.
-Take part in sexual reproduction.
-Important in the growth of organisms
