1. Describe a town or city that you like.
I’m interested in Shanghai, often referred to as the "Paris of the East" or the "Pearl of the
Orient," is a dynamic metropolis that stands as a testament to China's rapid modernization
and rich history. Situated on the estuary of the Yangtze River, Shanghai is one of the world's
most populous cities, boasting a skyline adorned with towering skyscrapers, including the
iconic Oriental Pearl Tower and the Shanghai Tower. The city seamlessly combines
traditional Chinese culture with a futuristic urban landscape. The Bund, a historic waterfront
promenade, showcases colonial-era architecture on one side and a futuristic skyline on the
other, symbolizing Shanghai's juxtaposition of old and new. The city is renowned for its
vibrant street life, bustling markets, and delectable cuisine, offering a diverse array of
flavours from local street vendors to Michelin-starred restaurants. Shanghai is a global
financial hub, with a bustling business district and a thriving arts and entertainment scene.
Visitors can explore the classical gardens of Yuyuan, wander through the trendy districts of
Xintiandi, and experience the lively energy of Nanjing Road, one of the world's busiest
shopping streets. Overall, Shanghai's magnetic charm lies in its ability to seamlessly blend
tradition and modernity, making it a captivating destination for both locals and international
travellers. So, I want to Shanghai to discover these things that I watched in the Internet.
2. Describe a recent dream.
Last night, I experienced a haunting dream that lingered in my thoughts upon waking. In this
eerie realm, I found myself wandering through a desolate, dimly lit mansion. The air was
heavy with an unsettling stillness, and a chilling breeze whispered through the empty
corridors. As I explored the shadowy rooms, an ethereal figure emerged — a ghostly
apparition with a pallid face and hollow eyes. Its movements were slow and deliberate,
sending shivers down my spine. The spectral presence seemed to glide effortlessly, leaving
an otherworldly aura in its wake. Without uttering a word, the ghostly figure conveyed an
unspoken sorrow and a sense of longing. It drifted towards me, and an inexplicable fear
gripped my heart. Despite my efforts to escape, its ethereal presence remained, casting a
surreal and disconcerting atmosphere.
Upon awakening, the unsettling image of encountering a ghost lingered, and I couldn't shake
off the feeling of having traversed a realm where the boundaries between the living and the
supernatural blurred, leaving me with a lingering sense of disquiet.
3. Describe something you do that makes you feel happy.
Recently, a heartwarming moment filled me with joy. I received a surprise visit from a dear
friend I hadn't seen in years. The doorbell rang, and there stood my friend, grinning from ear
to ear. The spontaneous reunion brought an immediate rush of happiness and nostalgia. As
we sat down and caught up on life, laughter echoed through the room, and shared memories
flooded our conversation. It was a simple yet profound joy to reconnect with someone who
shared a significant part of my past. We reminisced about old adventures, shared stories of
personal growth, and marveled at how much life had changed for both of us. The spontaneity
of the visit made the encounter even more special. The genuine connection and the reminder
of enduring friendships added a layer of warmth to my heart. The joy that radiated from that
unexpected reunion lingered, leaving me grateful for the bond we had and appreciative of the
simple, cherished moments that life can unexpectedly bring.
4. Describe a time when you were ill.
The weeks leading up to my final exams were characterized by intense dedication to my
studies. I had diligently immersed myself in a rigorous study routine, aiming to excel
academically. However, fate took an unexpected turn as I found myself grappling with a
debilitating illness – fever and all. The cruel irony of falling sick during the crucial exam
period left me bedridden and unable to participate in the tests I had prepared so diligently for.
As I lay there, wrapped in blankets and haunted by a high temperature, regret washed over
me. The realization hit hard – my relentless focus on academics had come at the expense of
neglecting my well-being. The missed exams were not just a setback academically; they were
a consequence of my failure to prioritize self-care. This experience served as a poignant
lesson. In the aftermath of illness, I vowed to strike a better balance between academic
pursuits and personal health. The missed exams became a catalyst for change, prompting me
to reevaluate my priorities and embrace a more holistic approach to life. Moving forward, I
would not only invest in my studies but also ensure the well-being of my body and mind. The
bitter taste of regret transformed into a commitment to nurture both academic ambitions and
personal health
5. Describe phobias that you still have.
My fear of mice is a persistent phobia that has shadowed me throughout my life. The mere
thought of these small rodents evokes an immediate sense of dread, triggering an unsettling
surge of anxiety. It's not their size but the unpredictability of their movements that unnerves
me. Childhood encounters with these creatures left an indelible mark on my psyche, making
the image of a mouse, with its twitching nose and rapid scurrying, a source of genuine fear.
Even the slightest hint of their presence, be it subtle scratching sounds or a faint rustle, can
send my heart racing. The fear manifests in comical yet embarrassing reactions – jumping
onto furniture or emitting involuntary yelps. Despite acknowledging the irrationality of my
fear, overcoming it remains a constant challenge. This fear of mice serves as a reminder that
phobias, often rooted in early experiences, can defy logic. It's a personal journey to confront
and navigate, an ongoing battle between reason and an instinctual, deep-seated anxiety that
makes even the smallest creatures formidable sources of fear.
6. Describe a favourite inventor and his/her inventions.
Sir Isaac Newton, a luminary in the scientific realm, was a 17th-century English
mathematician and physicist whose enduring legacy transformed our comprehension of the
physical world. Born in 1643, Newton's seminal work laid the groundwork for classical
mechanics and revolutionized scientific thinking during the era of the scientific revolution.
Among his groundbreaking experiments was Newton's investigation into the nature of light.
In 1666, he utilized a prism to disperse sunlight, revealing the remarkable spectrum of colors
that constitutes white light. This pivotal revelation not only explained the phenomenon of the
rainbow but also elucidated the composite nature of seemingly uniform light. Newton's
meticulous observations and innovative approach to experimentation became instrumental in
establishing the foundations of optics. His prism experiment, unraveling the intricate dance of
colors within white light, symbolized a transformative moment in scientific history. Newton's
pioneering work not only advanced our comprehension of light and color but also paved the
way for subsequent breakthroughs in physics. His intellectual contributions endure as a
testament to the power of curiosity and empirical inquiry, forever shaping our understanding
of the natural world.
7. Describe old habits that you used to have.
In the past, I found myself ensnared in the clutches of a detrimental habit – procrastination.
This toxic tendency to delay tasks became a hindrance to my productivity and personal
growth. I would often succumb to the allure of putting off important assignments or
responsibilities, convincing myself that there was ample time to address them later. As days
turned into weeks, I began to witness the adverse consequences of my procrastination.
Unfinished projects, looming deadlines, and a sense of unfulfillment pervaded my daily life.
Recognizing the need for change, I embarked on a journey to break free from this
counterproductive cycle. Overcoming procrastination demanded a concerted effort and a shift
in mindset. I implemented practical strategies such as setting realistic goals, breaking tasks
into smaller, manageable steps, and establishing a structured schedule. Additionally,
cultivating a sense of discipline and holding myself accountable for deadlines played a
pivotal role in overcoming this destructive habit. Gradually, the clouds of procrastination
began to lift. I witnessed a positive transformation in my work habits, experiencing the
gratification of completing tasks in a timely manner. Breaking free from the clutches of
procrastination not only enhanced my efficiency but also bolstered my self-discipline. It
became a testament to the transformative power of recognizing and rectifying detrimental
habits for personal and professional growth.
8. Describe an interesting or shocking story that you have read or heard about in the news
I would like to talk about news I read in The Times of India few days ago. It was about a
brave girl who fought with kidnappers. The incident just happened 3 weeks ago when an
unknown stranger was trying to kidnap a small child in the street. The child was 5 years old
boy who was standing outside a shop and used to regularly play there with his friends. The
strange man first gave chocolate to that child, took the child in his lap and was about to go.
The innocent child found chocolate as so much tempting that it could not even understand
that the stranger could be a kidnapper.
But a girl named Sukanya who is 15 years old found that stranger to be a suspicious person as
she had never seen him before and she knew that child, being his neighbor. She immediately
reacted on the spot snatching the child from that strange man and screamed aloud which led
all the people in the street to rush out towards her. People caught that strange man and
brought him in front of the police inspector who imprisoned him after inquiring him for
hours. Everybody in the street as well as in the town appreciated that girl’s brave spirit. I
found this story extremely interesting since I was filled with great level of inspiration and
motivation to do something good in the society. Apart from this, I believe this a good real
story that would help others to stay awaken by leaving a message that one may protect
oneself if surrounded by such criminals.
