Over the past few years, thanks to the advancement of social media, people nowadays can
Understand and learn about the diverse cultures of various ethnicities around the world.
However, preserving the cultural identity of Vietnam in the era of globalization has become a
heated concern among many Vietnamese. So, in this presentation, I will introduce you to some
possible solutions to maintain our cultural identity.
As you know, Vietnam has a rich history spanning thousands of years, with its language and 54
ethnic groups. Therefore, Vietnam possesses a unique and diverse cultural identity. One
fundamental way to maintain cultural identity is through respecting traditional rules. These
rules often encapsulate the values, customs, and social norms that have been passed down
through generations. By following these guidelines, we can preserve our cultural heritage and maintain its authenticity.
Moreover, language is key to preserving cultural identity, so I think speaking the native language
fluently helps maintain authenticity and cultural understanding.
Sharing one's culture with others is another effective way to preserve its identity. I believe that
whether through traditional dance, music, or visual arts, sharing these expressions fosters
mutual understanding and appreciation, creating connections that transcend geographical boundaries.
Culinary traditions play a significant role in preserving a culture's identity. Cooking traditional
food not only sustains culinary heritage but also creates a communal experience. The familiar
aroma of spices and the taste of traditional dishes evoke a sense of nostalgia, connecting individuals to their roots.
Active participation in cultural events, both as attendees and organizers, reinforces a sense of
community and belonging. These events serve as platforms to showcase and celebrate the
richness of cultural diversity. Whether it be festivals, ceremonies, or rituals, active involvement
ensures the continuity of these traditions. For example, in Bình Định province, we have
organized the Bài Chòi festival and Beauty Pageant in Traditional Vietnamese Ao Dai by the Sea
to show our traditional costumes and our unique music.
Finally, Wearing traditional costumes on special occasions is a meaningful way to express
cultural pride. These costumes serve as a visual representation of one's heritage and help
individuals feel a strong connection to their roots. By wearing traditional attire during important
events, people not only pay tribute to their ancestors but also feel a sense of pride and belonging in the present.
To sum up, by respecting traditional rules, using the native language, sharing cultural art,
cooking traditional food, attending cultural events, and wearing traditional costumes,
individuals contribute to the vibrant mosaic that is their cultural heritage. I believe that we will
ensure that our unique and diverse traditions continue to thrive for generations.
