Lesson 4: COMMUNICATION A. Aims:
1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson students will be able to express and respond to
congratulations, learn some knowledge of sports and games and ask and answer about
questions about sports and games.
2. Qualities: Students will be able to enhance their love for sports and games, their
responsibility for study, their industriousness.
3. Competences: Students will be able to practice speaking skill, communicate and cooperate,
solve problems and develop creativity. B. Teaching aids:

T lets students watch a video: a soccer match (Cong Phuong broke into a touch of Jordan's net) in Asian cup 2019. T asks some questions: - What is the video about? Ss answer
- Vietnam team won the football match T introduces the lesson
- How to congratulate to someone’s success
I. Pre- speaking: express and respond to congratulations (Task 1)
T presents the dialogue and asks ss to practice.

Congratulations: used to congratulate Sb/ to tell Sb that you are pleased about their success II. While – speaking: 1. Role play: (task 2)
T asks ss to practice the dialogue then use different context: singing contest, sports competition. T asks ss to role play. T checks and corrects.
2. Quiz: Knowledge of sports and games (task 3)
- Ss work individually in 2 minutes
- T checks their answer by playing game: GOLD MINER
- T divides the whole class into 2 teams: A and B
- T tells the rules: There are 6 numbers with 5 questions and 1 lucky gold. If you give the
correct answer, you will have chance to get some money. The winner is the group having more money. Key:
1. There are usually 22 players (11 on each side).
2. lt normally lasts 90 minutes (divided into two halves).

- Which sports or games do you like watching on TV?
- If you don’t play sport, what do you often do in your spare time?
T asks ss to use these questions to practice in groups of 4

1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson students will be able to read for specific information
about famous sportspeople – Pele, speak about a well-known sportsperson.
2. Qualities: Students will be able to enhance their love for sports and games, their
responsibility for study, their industriousness.
3. Competences: Students will be able to practice reading skill, speaking skill, cooperate,
solve problems and develop creativity. B. Teaching aids:
Textbook, computer, projector/ TV, cassette. C. Procedure:
* Warm up: Chatting: Name some famous football player in Viet Nam
- T tells ss to work in pairs and discuss the question: some famous football player in Viet Nam
- T elicits as many ideas as possible from ss - T introduces the lesson I. Pre Reading. (Task 1)
- T shows a picture and asks ss Who is he? What do you know about him? What is special about him? II. While-reading
1. Read the text and check the answer Suggested answers:

1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson students will be able to listen for specific information
about hobbies of Alice and Hai, write about a the sport and game you like.
2. Qualities: Students will be able to enhance their love for sports and games, their
responsibility for study, their industriousness.
3. Competences: Students will be able to practice listening skill, writing skill, cooperate,
solve problems and develop creativity. B. Teaching aids:
Textbook, computer, projector/ TV, cassette. C. Procedure: * Warm up: Miming
- T divides the class into two teams (A-B)
- T will use body language and ask Ss to guess words about sports or games
- The team having more correct words will be the winner.
Key: swimming, riding a bike, jogging, playing volleyball… I. Pre-writing: 1. Pre- questions: (Task 1)
- T asks ss to listen the passages and answer these questions: Who are they about? - Hai and Alice

Write a paragraph about 40-50 words about your favorite sports or games (Task 4 and 5)

- Name of the sport/ game. - How many players are there? - How often do you play it?
- What equipment does it need? - Why do you like it?
- T asks ss to work in group of 4, write a paragraph of about 50 words about their favorite
sports or games, covering as many ideas as possible of the answers to these questions.
- T tells ss to pay attention to punctuation, structural elements, linking words …
- Ss have 7 minutes to write the paragraph.
- T asks groups to stick their paragraph on the board - T comments and gives marks IV. Post-writing:
- T consolidates the knowledge of the lesson. V. Homework: - Complete the writing
