UNIT 10: OUR HOUSES IN THE FUTURE Lesson 2 : A CLOSE LOOK 1
A.OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge:
- Vocabulary: use the lexical items related to houses in the future.
- Pronunciation: Pronounce two-syllable words which have the first syllable stress. 2. Competence: - Communicative ability
- Develop problem-solving and co-operation 3. Qualities: - Hard- working. B. TEACHING AIDS: - TV, computer, B. PROCEDURE: I.VOCABULARY
1. Presentation.
Warm up washing maching Wireless TV - Have Ss work in 2 teams
-Get them to write the things in the room. -Give feed back 2. Practice:
*Activity1. Listen and repeat the words.
- Have Ss look at the words and phrases in the box
- Check that Ss understand the meanings of all words/phrases
- Play the recording and let ss listen.
-Play again and pause for them to repeat each word. -Ss repead- read -Correct pronunciation
*. Put the words into groups
Let Ss work in pairs, put the words in 1 into groups. * Activity2. Matching.
- Ss work in pairs in 4 ms.
-Check the answer. Explain to them which words go with each verb.

*Activity 3. Ask and answer questions about appliances. Eg:
A: What can an electric cooker help to do?
B: It can help us to cook rice.\
- Ask Ss to read the example first. Ensure that what they know what to do.
- Ss work in pair , using the information in 2, ask and answer questions.
-Then call some pair to practice in front of the class. -Correct their mistakes.
II. PRONUNCIATION 1. Presentation
Stress in two – syllable words
Explain that most two – syllablenouns and adjectives have stress on the first syllable
Eg: housework, father, brother, famous........
The first syllable of these words is stressed which means it should be pronopunced with a louder voice 2. Practice:
*Activity 4. Listen and repeat
‘picture ‘robot ‘bedroom ‘kitchen
‘housework ‘palace ‘village ‘mountains
- Play the recoeding several times. Ss listen and repeat
- Have Ss practice saying the words in pairs or groups
- Call on some Ss to say the words in front of class
- T checks their pronunciation.
*Activity 5: Listen and repeat the sentences.
Pay attention to the stress of the underlined words.
- Give Ss a few minute to read the underlined two-syllable words in the sentences.
- Play recording, sentence by sentence, for Ss listen and repeat.
Have Ss practice saying the sentences in pairs.
- Call on some Ss to read aloud the sentences inn frot of class. - Check their pronunciation. III. HOMEWORK
- Learn by heart new words.
-Practice stressing in two-syllable words
-Do Ex ......... in Ex book.

- Use might to talk about future possibility. - Grammar: The future simple.
2. Competence: - Develop the hi-tech future household appliances
3. Quality: hardworking, responsible and honest.

ACTIVITY 2: Grammar review a. The future simple.
Form:(+) S + will + V.bare..... (-) S + won’t + V.bare....
(?) Will + S + V.bare.....? Use:

Note: tomorrow, next, this, tonight, in + lượng thời gian, if, when,...
b. Might for future possibility: T shows the sentences:
What appliances might you have in your house? I might have a wireless TV.
Form(+) S + might+ V.bare....
(-) S + might not + V.bare....
(?) Might + S + V.bare... ?
Use: We use might + V to talk about actions that are possible in the future (we are not
sure if they will happen or not).
Note: Affimative: I/we/you/they/he/she/it + might + V
We might have robots do our housework.
Negative: I/we/you/they/he/she/it + might not + V
They might not travel in cars. II. Practice:
ACTIVITY 1: Read the two poems. Then, decide whether the statements below are T (True) or F (False).
1. Jenny thinks we might live with robots.
2. Henry thinks we might travel to the Moon.
3. Jenny thinks robots might not clean our houses.
4. Henry thinks we will stay on the Moon for a short time.
5. Jenny thinks robots might help us do the housework.
6. Henry thinks we might not have a great time on the Moon.
