Unit 1: Influencer Marketing
KOLs: key opinion leader: việc các doanh nghiệp sử dụng influencer
chuyên về một chủ đề nào đó để quảng bá sản phẩm cho họ. Điều này
được thực hiện trên các nền tảng mạng xã hội.
Example:
Dietitian, coaches, excellent student(earned scholarships, have
high ielts, high SAT,.etc) who are sponsored to give advices(to
promote apps, products) on social medias, such as Youtube, Insta,
Tik Tok,…
Celebrities: musicians, singers, actors/actresses, famous models,
Youtubers, despite their lack of expertise on the products they
might promo, may still be KOLs(HALO effects: the psychological
effect where if the celebs are attractive, they get higher pay deals,
more profitable sponsorships/contracts). Or when celebs are in
favor of certain products advertised, this lead to a rise in those
things’ sale since their fans want to use the same items as their
beloved idols.
->However, they need to provide concrete evidences in their respective
fields, and viewers also need to double-check on those “proofs”.
->This is a win-win situation if the influencer is genuine. If not, this can
lead to a loss of money for buyers, but a bonus payment for the false
advertiser.
*Benefits: new products being promoted with great deals.
*Drawbacks: can be sketchy and a scam if the KOLs are too greed for
money/ are not pros in related fields.
o Depending on how famous the KOLs is, some brand will pay more
or less-as they know the market/target customers.

support students in need, which seems incomparable with that figure in
Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Universities UK (an organization linking many uni in the UK) side: the
costs of accommodation are a matter of individual institutions, meaning
they don’t have a say in this. However, regarding students in private
rentals and students with financial issue, there is still an ongoing
discussion on how to support them.
Unit 5: environmentalism (concern about and action aimed at
protecting the environment-ch nghĩa b o v môi trg)
Green/environmentally friendly/environmental responsible products
mentioned in the article: reusable straws/water bottles, tote bags,
clothes/ shoes manufactured in environmentally friendly ways.
One of the ways to protect the environment: buy in bulk-in large
quantity (reduce the packaging waste), recycle, pick up the trash.
Arguments: main idea: purchasing these green products might still lead
increased waste:
- People buy more than they need waste to the already polluted
planet: the businesses are in fault can be the original brands who
invented these products and the copycat.
- These products may not be produced in an environmentally
friendly way.
- The product itself wouldn’t create that many changes.
- By buying these items, they feel like they have already contributed
enough to protect the environment, but reality is far from that.
