SHORT TALK TOPIC CARDS – EIC 2
Talk about your personal information.
 I was born and raised in HCM city and it is very populated. I
feel very lucky to live in a family that is always happy and not
to strict with the choices of children. That’s why as soon as I
chose Hoa Sen University with a major in International
Business, my family supported my decision. After going to
University because of Covid-19, I couldn’t go to school or go
out with my friends. So all my free time I can only sleep or do my homework.
Talk about a person you like or admire.
 My mom is a person I admire most. My mom spent a lot of time
raising and educating me. My mom is like everyone else but in
my eyes she is the perfect version. Everyone in my family said
that my mom was always hardworking and gentle. Sometime,
she is very funny. I admire my mom because I feel she can do
anything. There are things I can’t do, but in my mom’s hands it can be done in 1 second.
Talk about your favorite picture or photo.
 This photo was taken on my trip with friends. I took this photo
at sunset in a field in the countryside. I really like the scene in
this photo, it gives me a sense of peace. And it will stay forever
in my mind as well as in my phone. Because this photo will
remind me of the countryside sky and the moment of my first trip with my friends.
Talk about a trip/holiday you had and enjoyed.
 The trip that I will never forget is the trip to Dong Nai. I go to
Dong Nai with my family and I often invite best friends to my
hometown. On vacations, I and family or my best friends go to
Dong Nai. We are in the suburbs so there are a lot of trees,
rivers and lakes. This place is so beautiful and at this time we
don't use our phones but instead we go fishing and we go eat
dinner together. I enjoyed the trip very much because here the
air is fresh, there is no traffic noise and I can see the nature.
Most importantly, I have a lot of happy memories with my
family and friends on this trip.
Talk about an important event you had in the past.
 An important event that I had in the past was the 18 years old
camp. This event was held for 12th graders in my high school.
We spend the whole day eating, drinking, singing together. And
in the evening, we will light a bonfire to celebrate the age of
18. I feel this event is important to me because it marks the
age of 18. And this event also contains a lot of memories with friends and teachers.
Talk about a story you enjoyed reading.
 I was given the book Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs by my
brother. The story is about a stepmother who is jealous of
Snow White's beauty and tries to kill her. But Snow White was
lucky to get out of trouble and find the love of her life. I love
reading this story because Snow White had to go through hard
times to find her love. When I was a child, when I finished
reading the story, I thought that if you were too beautiful,
other people would envy you. But when I grew up, I had
another thought that overcoming difficulties you will find true love.
Talk about your future plan.
 Next week my family is going to the countryside and I have to
stay here alone for a week. When my family returned to my
hometown, I had to clean the house, cook, and take care of the
house alone. Therefore, I have to try to remember all the words
of my mother to be able to keep the house clean. Maybe next
week I won't do as well as my mom usually does. I think the
hardest thing is being at home alone for a week.
Talk about a time when you hung out with friends.
 On vacations, I and my best friends go to Dong Nai. We are in

Talk about learning new words.
 I often learn new words from movies and games. When I watch
movies and play games I can learn 3 or 4 new words in a day.
Sometimes I can learn a sentence from a character's dialogue
in a movie. I keep these new words by writing in notes in my
phone or trying to remember these words using it.
Talk about doing housework.
 I often help my mother cook for the family and wash the dishes
after each meal. Except for cooking and washing dishes, I
always clean my bedroom. Cleaning my bedroom makes me
feel good because when I see my bedroom tidy, my mind can
be more active. Just like when everything is clean, I can sleep better.
Talk about your shopping habit.
 I usually go shopping in malls or stores. Whenever I go
shopping, I usually buy clothes or cosmetics. The items that I
buy must be suitable for me, most importantly, the item must
be affordable. When I go shopping for clothes, I usually go with
my mother because she always knows what will suit me.
Talk about your weekends.
 On weekends, I usually sleep all day or watch my favorite
movies. I stay with my family on weekends, eat dinner and
watch TV together. I just want to stay at home on weekends
and I don't want to go out these days. Weekends are very
important to me because this is the day when I can relax.
Talk about your daily routines.
 I always wake up at 7am, I will brush my teeth and wash my
face at 7:30am. Then I have breakfast with my family at 8am.
When I finished breakfast, I would look at the class schedule
and prepare my books. If there is a class that day, I will go to
school. I'll finish my homework when I get home from school.
After finishing my homework, I will have dinner with my family.
To end the day I would take a shower, then I would watch a
movie or read a manga. And I will go to bed at 11pm.
Talk about the city where you live.
 I was born and raised in Ho Chi Minh City aka Saigon. Saigon is
the largest city in Vietnam. Saigon is famous for its high-rise
buildings and commercial centers. Not only that, the flow of
people here is also very crowded. Saigon at night is very
beautiful and interesting, people like to gather in cafes or sit on
the riverbanks walking around. The people here are also very friendly and sociable.
Talk about diet and lifestyle.
 I always eat at home with the dishes that my mother cooks. I
usually eat rice with meat and a bowl of soup. When I go to
school I never skip breakfast but on the days I don't go to
school I don't eat breakfast. Sometimes there are days when I
just eat fast food. However, I still try not to eat too much fast
food because it is not healthy and it also makes me gain
weight fast. Therefore, I always do easy exercises to limit
weight gain and exercise also helps me lead a healthy lifestyle.
Talk about your current life.
 My current life is very happy. Now I have many new friends,
have a new learning environment, as well as know more new
knowledge. But there are so many new things that I can't
adapt yet. So now I'm getting used to things.
Talk about your best/ close friend.
 My best friend and I have known each other for 5 years. We
know each other because we are classmates. She is very
pretty and not very tall. Her highlight is her long, shiny black
hair. Since I played with her I have learned a lot from herself.
But what I learned the most was to be positive about everything. Talk about dreams.
 Every time I come home from going out or just watch a movie
about adventure, that night I will dream. I often dream of
jungle adventures or outings with friends. Those dreams are
very interesting but I don't always remember, I only remember
1 or 2 dreams. I would love to remember more of these amusing and joyful dreams.
