estimated figures for 2030. As can be seen from the table, Australia
and Brazil had a decline of land covered by forest in 1990 to 2005
and these two countries are also forecast to continue to slip in 2030.
Another point to mention is that Australia had a slight decrease
from 1990 to 2005, from 21,9% to 21,3% but the percentage is
predicted to plummet to 20,0 %, the discrepancy is 1.3 %.
On the one hand, the percentage of forest in Brazil was also drop
but it forcast to metigation in 2030. In detail, Brazil in 1990 to 2005
is 62,2% and 57,2% but in 2030 will be slightly lower : 53,5%.
Interestingly, Brazil's forest coverage ratio and reduction rate are
both much better than Australia's.
By contrast, New Zealand and Chile have a growth in forest in both
past and future. In NewZealand, The percentage of land covered by
forest from 1990 to 2005 was an increase, it has a steady growth

into the future. To give a specific view, it was 28,8 %, 31 %, 32,2 %
in three years.
Of the other forms, Chile also had a stable rise of forest. On average
over three time periods ( 1990, 2005 and 2030 ) , the percentage of
forest cover in Chile will be increased by about 1%.
Overall, the amount of land covered by forest in Australia and Brazil
was expected to go down from 1990 to 2030. Meanwhile, New
Zealand and Chile was estimated to go up from 1990 to 2030.
