C. Course Description:
This course provides the students with the basic knowledge of Human Resource Management
(HRM). The course is delivered with a combination of the explanation of theories and group
discussion of case studies, and conducting of group projects.

of human resource management;

Helping students understand the fundamental tools of the job analysis, recruitment,
training, performance appraisal, remuneration, etc…

Demonstrate a detailed understanding of the major analytical concepts and models in
human resource management including notions of ‘soft’ and ‘hard’ HRM; normative
models of HRM; strategy and fit in HRM;
2.
Explain the rationale for a range of specific HRM policies and practices such as
recruitment and selection, appraisal and rewards and equal opportunities;
3.
Assess the problems associated with the design and implementation of HRM policies and
practices as well as their impact on employees.
F. Instructional Modes:
Students should actively read the textbook with chapter and cases corresponding to each session
before joining the class. The lecturer will review the material from the textbook, and answer
questions. Group discussion will be applied for students to exchange their ideas, grasp the
knowledge themselves and apply the concepts learned in the class to the "real world", especially
in explaining some current HR problems in Vietnamese enterprises. Students are also asked to do
assignments or role-playing in class.

H. Assessment Methods (Requirements for Completion of the Course):
1. Description of learning outcomes assessment
1.1 Group project
Students form groups of 4-5 students and work on a topic chosen by themselves or suggested by
the instructor. Then each group must write a report with no more than 20 pages in length and
present it orally. The project counts for 20% of the total score
1.2 Individual assignment
Student will be given a lot of assignments and exercises during the courses. The individual
assignment counts for 20% of the total score.
1.3 Final exam
The final exam consists of multiple choice questions and situation analysis. The test covers all the
knowledge acquired throughout the course. No reference material is allowed.
