UNIT 1: Describe a close friend:
I have a best friend. He and I have known each other since 10th grade
and have been close since 11th grade until now. He is a very positive
and confident person and always helps his friends around. He is the
type of person that I need to learn a lot from, especially from his hard
work and perseverance. I feel so lucky to be his best friend.
UNIT 2: Describe an exciting competition or
sporting event you have witnessed:
I would like to tell you about a sporting event that I have witnessed. It
was a football match between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city. The match
took place at My dinh stadium last Sunday. It was around 6:00 pm
when the match began and there were lots of fans and supporters of
both teams who came there to enjoy the match and to support their
favourite team. It was a very exciting match. At the beginning, both
teams played very well and fairly. The players in each team were very
cooperative. But at the end of the match, the asmosphere in the
stadium was very strained when two teams drew 3-3. Finally, Hanoi
won the match with a score of 4 to 3. The tight competition, my
support for my team and wish to win the game, the supporters'
shouting, enthusiasm, the lively stadium and cheering made the game
a very memorable for me. In short, it is wonderful for me to recall such an exciting moment.
UNIT 3: Describe your dream job:
My dream job would be to a primary school English teacher. I like
English very much and I like children very much. I like to dedicate my
knowledge to children. To do that, I need to word hard to learn and
understand and child psychology. I think the most difficult thing about
this job is the method of conveying and teaching so that the children
can understand the knowledge. Although this career has many
challenges, I always choose to pursue my dream.
UNIT 4:Describe your favourite season:
My favorite season is summer. It starts at the beginning of May and
ends at the beginning of September. Although it's the hottest season of
the year, it's a season of vacation, less busy with school, and especially
I can participate in many summer activities are fun, such as
swimming, summer volunteering, meeting friends and hanging out with family.
UNIT 5: Describe a language other than English
that you would like to learn:
I would like to learn Chinese. I would like to explore culture and
people Chinese. I think the hard thing to learn Chinese is its writing,
it's hieroglyphics so it's hard to remember. Regarding speaking skill,
in my opinion it's easier, because grammar is similar to my native
language. I wish in the future I can go to Chinese and explore the land there.
UNIT 6: Describe a piece of electronic equipment that you find useful:
The piece of equipment I’d like to talk about is my laptop. My mother
bought me this laptop at Mobile World when I was 12 years old. At
that time, I used my laptop to compete in the English Olympics on the
Internet. And gradually unti now, this laptop makes it possible for me
to edit photos with photo editing software, write anything in word
processing applications like Microsoft Word, process large amounts of
data and perform calculations with Microsoft Excel, create yor
presentation with Powerpoint. Besides, I can work part-time onine
with this laptop without having to travel to work. When I’m tired, I
can entertain myself by playing games, listening to music, blogging,
watching Youtube, reading e-books, connect with people all on this
laptop. All of which shows that the laptop is very useful for me
interms of study, work and entertainment. Thank you for your listening to my talk.
UNIT 7: Describe a hobby you enjoy:
One of my favorite hobbies is traveling. I've always loved it. I go on a
trip every three months, I go with my group of friends. We go to a
certain place, camp there and explore the land, the food and the people
there. This hobby helps me to understand more and more about the
world, have fun with a group of friends, gather knowledge and keep memories of my youth.
UNIT 8: Describe a happy childhood memory:
I won first prize in a school singing competition when I was about
seven years old and just got into third grade in elementary school, it
was a happy event for me and I still remember it vividly. In my
primary school, the government organized various competitions to
motivate students to study and go to school. Every year they organize
different competitions such as singing, painting, sports and many other
events. I entered the singing competition and won first place after
beating five other contestants. It was the first big success of my life
and I remember it best when I was a kid.
UNIT 9: Describe a place that you enjoy visiting:
In 2008, I went to SaiGon with my mother. SaiGon at that time was a
splendid and bustling city. There were many high-rise buildings, the
tallest building at that time was the Bitexco building located in
District 1. My mother and I went to visit the zoo with unique animals
and animal cages with amazing architecture. The next place is the
Independence Palace, my mother and I were surprised because the
architecture here is extremely unique with artifacts of historical value.
In 2019, when I returned to SaiGon, I was very surprised because it
had changed so much. SaiGon is much more luxurious and sparkling.
Many apartment buildings are built close to each other. And especially
the tallest building at that time was Landmark 81 with 81 floors, a
symbol representing the country of Vietnam. Foreigners live more and
more, forming very Western cultural features but still keeping the
Vietnamese identity. Especially, the people here are increasingly
friendly and very hospitable. If given the opportunity, I want to live and work here.
UNIT 10: Describe a festival that you enjoy:
Tet holiday, which is also known as Lunar New Year holiday in
Vietnam. It usually occurs at the end of January and lasts for 3 days.
Tet holiday in Vienam is usually in honor of the departure of the
previous year and an occasion to welcome the new year with many
blessings. On Tet holiday, we will have family unions to catch up with
each other. Besides, some famillies, enjoy this festival by preparing
traditional food such as Vietnamese square cake, dried candied fruit,
braised pork and eggs, and decorating the house with parallel
sentences. Especially, for children, I think they look forward to Tet
holiday because they can receive lucky money from adults as a way to
give them wishes for the new year. Tet holiday is a time when friends
and family members get together.
UNIT 11: Describe a memorable holiday:
Last summer, my family and I were lucky enough to travel to Nha
Trang for 2 weeks. The resort was so amazing that it is absolutely an
ideal destination for every summer. We enjoy lying on the beach to
sunbath every morning or during the afternoon. We also love the
cuisine there, most of the food are marine species including crabs,
shrimps, or cuttles. My siblings and I can also play in an entertainment
park near there with a wide range of games. The staff there were very
helpful, they instructed us in details and supported us as much as
possible. They also warn us to bargain when shopping in the souvenir
stores and remember not to buy any products from the hawker. The
local peope were very friendly and amazing. When we got lost inside
the city, they would show us the way carefully. They can even drive
you to your hotel if they are not busy. In conclusion, this destination
was so mazing and the most memorable holiday I have ever had.
