ASSESSMENT GUIDELINES
Requirement:
Students are asked to choose and analyze one of the HRM practices applied in the selected
company (e.g., recruitment and selection, training employees, and performance management, and
developing employees).
Assignment Guide:
The structure of the essay should be systematic, and coherent with the various arguments
and counterarguments presented in a logical manner.
Start with a clear introduction which directly addresses the topic, especially the selected
HRM practice, identify the key issues, and briefly introduce the selected company.
Make a critical literature review on the selected HRM practice (e.g., selecting employees,
training employees, performance management, and developing employees) by defining the
concepts and clarifying the importance of this HRM practice and its impacts on the
organization. Here, arguments should be based on scientific evidence, such as journal
articles, books, etc.,
Analyze data/documents related to the HRM practice from the selected company to provide
a critical evaluation of how this HRM practice may impact on the organizational
performance.
Based on your analysis, you are asked to provide HRM recommendations to the selected
company.
A conclusion to the essay is required that details what issues have been explored in the
essay with summative commentary that provides a response to the essay statement. It
should match the introductory paragraph(s).
The essay should be controlled to under 3000 words excluding references and appendices.
Students are asked to follow the citing and referencing guidelines of the university (the
APA Style, 7

Students are asked to submit the essay via Blackboard by midnight Saturday, Week 2 (of final
exam weeks).
Notes
I recommend students choose one company only. It could be the company used to work on group
tasks. However, if this company does not have all documents/data needed to analyse the selected
HRM practice, you are allowed to choose another company.
