I. Description of our project: the overall content and justification of the design
Regardless of the overall content, our group decided to include 4 main parts:
External environment, Internal environment, SWOT analysis, TOWS strategy to analyse
LocknLock management environment in South Korea market. Before going through 4
main points, we first mention the overview (about goals, vision, mission) of the company
and LocknLock also wants to provide functional, high - quality and convenient products
to improve life quality for customers. In the External environment, we analyse the micro
and macro environment, included in PESTLE analysis and Porter’s 5 Forces,
respectively. Moving to the inside, the internal environment, information about the
resource, organisational culture and development stage are collected and applied Value
Chain method to figure out the capabilities of LockLock to invest and develop through
primary and support activities. After that, we combine the results of external and internal
analysis to create the SWOT analysis. With SWOT analysis of the company, we generate
the appropriate strategies for LockLock, particularly, combining 2 aspects: S&O, W&O,
S&T and W&T as well as classifying strategies into 2 types: corporate/business - level
and functional - level. Finally, all the works above must be true so we also include
References, listing the sources of information while analysing the management
Moving to the design part, our aim is to clearly illustrate the key visual of
LocknLock through this poster. With the combination of many colours: blue, white and
black, we want to visualise the content in a logical and clear structure as well as a
professional appearance. Moreover, the information will be summarised and put in an
appropriate order which also increases the readability and understanding for the
audiences. With that reason, we consider to avoid using many long paragraphs, instead,
we just use phrases, short sentences as well as highlight the main ideas to illustrate
information more attractively. Especially, the image of LockLock’s bottle will increase
the brand awareness which might be recognised among other posters.
II. A critical review of Vinfast’s poster - Group 3
The poster of group 3 - Vinfast corporation has impressed me a lot at first.
Mentioned about the strengths, I can define many strong points both in appearance and
content. First, group 3 has successfully visualised the poster attractively with clear and
logical structure of information, especially highly expresses Vinfast’s key features. They
use iconic and contrast themes (black and white) and yellow to emphasise the noticeable
information with an outstanding in-text citation system that is numbered to be easier to
follow. I am also impressed by the content of this poster, which based on practical
information with realistic and reliable data (inbound logistics), satisfies all the
requirements of the assignment. Especially, the part of Value Chain is analysed very
detailed, reflecting both external and internal collaborations with clear understanding for
the readers.
However, there are still some weaknesses that should be improved. Some sections
should be discussed more, for example, the strengths in SWOT analysis and Competitors
in Porter’s 5 Forces. Moreover, some abbreviations make me quite confused because of
lacking explanations such as OTA, MoU,... Moreover, the poster also mentions the first
perspective “advanced technology and high automation” which results in 3 YES from
Valuable, Difficult to Imitate, Exploitable by the Organisation and 1 NO from Rare
criteria. This means the conclusion of competitive implications must be Temporary
Competitive Advantage but they indicate that is Sustained Competitive Advantage, which
must be 4 YES. And finally, despite highly strong content, the TOWS strategy is not well
done, it just mentions the names of strategies but lacks how to apply those strategies in
real situations.
To conclude, among 7 posters, this poster of Vinfast has impressed me the most.
This poster can mainly satisfy the requirements of the midterm assignments although
there are some weaknesses that should be improved.
III. My experience about the group assignment
When knowing the midterm assessment of designing a poster to analyse a
company’s management environment, I was very excited because I had never handled
such an academic poster before. Although I have many experiences related to designing, I
also felt nervous because my team was new and the members were unfamiliar and had no
experience in teamwork before. Fortunately, thanks to many group activities the lecturer
has assigned while studying, we have engaged with each other. We were pleased to
cooperate, support and be willing to share ideas to complete this big project. Personally,
my experience in researching is quite uninteresting so I want to be in charge of the
PESTEL analysis to improve it as well as the designing part due to my previous
experience in design.
Regardless of the group work, we first held some meetings to carefully discuss the
project: objectives, raising ideas about which company to analyse and then voted for the
most appropriate and created the detailed masterplan to follow. This plan was created to
include code of teamwork (requirements, rules to follow that ensure the best
performance), task assignments (tasks, descriptions, feedback and deadlines) and finally,
task tracking (deadlines, the status of the task and outputs). And our leader - Quang Khai
was in charge of tracking and monitoring the performance of the whole team and he also
engaged as well as maintained the communication of all members. During the
researching and analysing stage, we helped and inspired each other a lot and also
feedback each work for further improvements. In the stage of designing, we together
decided the theme as well as the layout of the poster to ensure it will attractively express
LocknLock's key features. Then, we gave feedback for both content and poster and made
some necessary adjustments to complete it. Finally, we have done many rehearsals to
time it probably. Although we had some troubles with managing time, after adjustments
and practices, our presenters had successfully done a great job in the final presentation
and stayed within the time limit.
Lastly, I really appreciate our group members because of their efforts and
enthusiastic contributions for completing this poster. Also, I have learned a lot through
this assignment, including researching, analysing skills, designing skills and especially
teamwork. Finally, I want to say thank you to our lecturer for creating such a new and
quite challenging assignment to encourage students’ potential skills.
