they are discussing. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Give reasons and examples to support your
view.
A: Hey, you know what I was thinking?
B: What?
A: Like, when you talk to someone, it's way easier if you agree on stu 昀昀, right? Like, the same movie, or the same
drink
B: Yeah, I guess. Makes things less...puzzled.
A: Exactly! No arguments, no one ge ng mad. Just vibes, you know?
B: But what if you don't like the same things? Like, what if I love horror movies and you're scaredy-cat?
A: True. But you can s 琀椀 ll chat, right? You can ask why they like it, maybe even try a not-too-scary one together.
Baby steps, you know?
B: Yeah, I see your point. It's nice to have common ground, but it's not the end of the world if you don't. You can
always 昀椀 nd a way to connect
A: Exactly! High 昀椀 ve for di 昀昀 erent opinions and open minds!
B: High 昀椀 ve! And remember, even if you disagree, be nice.

When people succeed, it is entirely because of hard work. Luck has nothing to do with their success. To
what extent do you agree or disagree with the statement? Give reasons and examples to support your view.
A: Hey there, I see you got lucky again.
B: What do you mean?
A: I mean you got 10 points from Mr.Ma 琀琀 hew. It’s not easy. You must be really lucky.
B: It’s not about luck. I worked hard in his class for 6 weeks and got a lot of extra points. That’s why my score is higher
than yours.
A: Ok, but how you will explain that we have a lot of students who are lucky to be born to wealthy families. I wish I
could be like them. To have everything and do nothing.
B: Well, 昀椀 rst it’s not about luck at all their parents worked hard to have what they own and second, we don’t
know what kind of price their kids have paid for this success.
A: So you really believe that to become successful you need to work hard and it has nothing to do with luck?
B: Most of the 琀椀 me, yes. A bit of luck is important too. I’m just saying that you should not think that luck is
everything. Some things looks like luck but most of the 琀椀 me it was a result of hard work.
A: I guess you’re right. It’s just so easy and convenient to think that you can have it all and do nothing fo

Some people claim that prevention is better than cure. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this
claim? Give reasons and examples to support your view.
A: Yesterday I went to the hospital and saw a lot of people there. I wonder why people can't just do simple things and
be healthy.
B: What do you mean?
A: I mean if you follow simple rules: eat healthy, sleep 8 hours a day, drink more water, do exercise for 30 mins every
day you don't need to worry about your health anymore.
B: Well, I get your point but it sounds easy but not easy to follow. People work a lot and don't really have a lot of
me to check on their health.
A: But health is wealth. That's why people need to remember. If you have no health everything else is not important
anymore.
B: True. But look at our life. We are so stressed and 琀椀 red all the 琀椀 me. People want to treat themselves with
extra snack, or movie at night or more 琀椀 me spent doing nothing. It's just natural reac 琀椀 on to stress and
problems.
A: I agree with you but at the same 琀椀 me I think I should try to keep myself healthy no ma 琀琀 er what. So I s
ll can 昀椀 nd 琀椀 me for healthy habits a 昀琀 er long day of work and study. Cause I want live longer, be 琀琀

B: I got you. But I guess I'd rather eat that extra bag of chips and drink a Coke if those make me happier today. Even if
I have health problems because of it tomorrow.

Nowadays, young people often send their aging parents to nursing homes. Do you think this
is a positive or negative trend? Give examples to support your view.
A:How old are your parents? I heard they're turning 65 this year.
B: Yep, you're right.Why are you asking?
A: I mean they're older now and their health is not ge ng be 琀琀 er. And they're ge ng annoying
with their “昀椀 nd a girl and get married conversa 琀椀 ons”. So I'm considering sending them to a
nursing home.
B: Oh wow. That's a serious decision. Are you sure about it? Why not to let them live together with
you? I think it's be 琀琀 er for elders.
A: I know what you mean, but look I study far from home and soon will be working. I simply have no
琀椀 me to take care of them.
B: You have a good point, but imagine, they're old, it's di cult for them to stay away from family
and make connec 琀椀 ons with new people.
A: Sure, it's not easy. But I worry more about their physical health. They have doctors and caretakers
in there, so my parents will have 24/7 care.
B: Hmmm, but what about their mental health. Staying with family make them live longer and
happier. I'll do anything possible to keep do my parents beside me. It's important. No ma 琀琀 er how
sick or annoying they will be. They're my parents at the end of the day.
A: Well, maybe you're right

B: It was fun, to be honest. Every night new place to stay. Only cheap or free op 琀椀 ons.
lOMoARcPSD| 48541417
A: That's what I hate when I travel. Strangers, no security, sleeping in some dangerous places.
B: Don't think about it that way. It's a good way to see a lot of places for cheap.
A: Ok, what about cooking or your luggage. You need to limit your food op 琀椀 ons. I'm not even
talking about showering.
B: Well, you look for comfort and safety I guess backpacking is just not for you. It's about leaving your
comfort zone, pushing limits, new experience, adventures.
A: Yeah, it's de 昀椀 nitely not for me. I can't live without shower and comfortable bed at night. Sorry.
B: What about mee 琀椀 ng new people, trying new food, overcoming di cul 琀椀 es with your

A: Wasn't your money stolen when you met some kids on the street and what about food poisoning
you had a 昀琀 er trying some cheap exo 琀椀 c food?
B: It's 昀椀 ne. I got you. Don't want to argue with you anymore. But if you change your mind, you're

do you agree or disagree? Give examples to support your view.

A: Because of people like you who are looking for convenience at the 琀椀 me animals are dying and
people got many health issues.
B: Hold on, don't make me look like a monster. I support a lot of environmental chari 琀椀 es and care
about animals. But let's not forget that some 琀椀 mes we need plas 琀椀 c bags for unexpected situa

A: Situa 琀椀 ons? What kind of situa 琀椀 ons? We need to ban all plas 琀椀 c bags.

B: Like yesterday, I le 昀琀 my umbrella at home and it's was raining heavily so I use plas 琀椀 c bag

A: Those are just excuses. Stop convincing me we need all that plas 琀椀 c. Plas 琀椀 c bags are evil.
They block drainage systems and city streets are ooding. I'm 琀椀 red of swimming during rainy
season.
B: Ok, I got your point. I don't support overusing of plas 琀椀 c bags I just think 100% ban won't solve
the problem of plas 琀椀 c. We s 琀椀 ll have plas 琀椀 c toys, bo 琀琀 les, containers. We need
another way.

To what extent do you agree or disagree? Give examples to support your view.
A: Hey hey, look at you! Wow, I'm impressed

Subjects like art and music should be made compulsory in schools. To what extent do you
agree or disagree? Give examples to support your view.
A: Do you remember yourself at school?
B: Yeap, I've been really into art, literature, music, history...Oh those fun 琀椀 mes.

That's why we need subjects like music and art. Don't you think?
A: I don't know. In my school, those were really dull, teacher was old. Students were so bored that we
just slept in class.
B. Ok, I got you. So it's more about teacher. Well, one more thing studying art and music helps to
develop students' crea 琀椀 vity, their personality, give them some vision. Maybe some of those
students are really talented and can't wait to be discovered.
A: Maybe you're right.
B:Well, it depends on teacher and his/her method. I had a dedicated old lady as art and music teacher
back then. She delivered all those art things to us the way not only we could understand clearly but
also to relate and even enjoy it.
A: Ok then, good for you. And I salute your teacher and her dedica 琀椀 on, It must be di cult to
