23/Sunglasses
1/Do people in your country often wear sunglasses?
Not often, Vietnamese people only wear sunglasses in the daylight of the summer. In addition to
the hot weather, there are also blinding rays of sunlight. If you don't wear sunglasses on the
street, it will harm your eyes.
2/Where can you buy sunglasses?
In Vinh Long city, my hometown, there are a lot of sunglasses store. You can find one if you go
around my house.
3/Do you spend a lot of money on sunglasses?
No, I don’t. I just have a pair of sunglasses, but I never seem to wear it when I go out.
Additionally, I don’t think that having a lot of sunglasses is necessary. But it doesn’t mean we
don’t need to wear sunglasses when going outside.
4/What types of sunglasses do you have?
I have a pair of sunglasses with plastic lenses at home, they are the kind with large frames. It has
pretty good UV protection from the sun for my eyes
5/Do you give sunglasses as a gift?
Maybe, I think it’s not a good idea so I never give sunglasses as a present. But sometimes when
you run out of ideas for gifts it can also be a good idea. Because sunglasses have many good uses
23/Sweets and cakes
1/Do you like to eat sweets?
Absolutely. Eating sweet things can give me a lot of energy when you work or study, make me
stay awake. Sometime, eat some candies can make your feeling better, help you increase your
work efficiency.
2/Do you like sweets more or less now compared to when you were a child?
I think I don’t like sweets as I used to. You know, almost every kids like sweets and so do I. I’m
really into chocolate and candy, although I know it is really bad for my teeth.
3/Why do people like sweets?
People love sweets because it helps them stay awake when they are sleepy, provides energy
when exhausted, or they eat just because they like the sweet taste. That's why people from all
ages love sweets.
4/Have you ever made a cake yourself?
No, I haven’t. I’m really into cooking but I don’t have any experience about making a cake so I
usually go to a bakery to buy one. But if I have a chance, I will try to learn how to make it by
myself.
5/On what occasions do people in your culture eat special cakes or other sweet
food?
In Vietnamese culture, people often eat cakes on birthdays and weddings. It is a type of cake
with many layers and covered with a layer of cream. People often put candles on the top of the
cake and blow them out.
6/Do you often eat cakes or sweets after a meal?
No. I don’t. Because I usually eat some fruits as desserts. Everybody knows that eating sweets
can damage to your teeths. So I try to reduce the number of sweets that I consume in a day.
