Music is an indispensable part of people’s lives, most activities are done with music.
Nowadays, there are lots of songs are available with different tempos, a wide range
of beats, sounds, and the age of people who listen; so we can clarify music into some
particular categories: rock, pop, and jazz.
The first type of music is rock. It has many names ”Rock and roll, rock & roll, or rock
’n’ roll’, which emerged in the United States in the 1950s. First it spread to English-
speaking countries and Europe, and by the 90s it globally regconized. Rock is
characterized by the strong rhythmic element and accompanied by electronic
amplification in every performance, and it is played by the young musician for young
audiences. The Beatle band might be regarded as the best band rock- the best and
most influential of all time, it was established in Liverpool in 1960, ‘ Yesterday’ is a
well-known song of The Beatles band, was covered up to 2.200 versions, and also was
performed 7 million times in the century of twenty’.
The second kind of music is pop, the genre of popular music that is a compound
between many kinds of music such as rock, Hip Hop, dance, and produces the most hits
with ashort lyrics, good rhythms, catchy melody, and usually have a chorus that is
repeated two or more verse, almost about the joys, problems of love, the feelings of the
relationship. In the world, there are many pop singers, in the past was Michale Jackson,
now we have Charlie Puth, or in Viet Nam, there are many pop singers: Suboi, Son
Tung mtp, Binz and so on.
The third kind of music is jazz which originated in the African- American communities in
the late 19
th
and early 20
th
centuries. Unlike classical music, which strives for a clear,
‘pure’ tone, the tone of jazz music is generally more ‘Vocal’ in nature. For example, when
performing, the players will bend many pitches: growl, whine. The best-known jazz
musician is Duke Ellington, who composed thousands of scores and created one of the
most distinctive ensemble sounds in all of Western music.
In sum, whichever types of music are- rock, pop, or jazz- it is clear to see that music is
a crucial part of people’s entertaining activities, and it is also interesting to say that
different kinds of music have unique features.
