1. Some people believe the aim o f university education is to help graduates get better jobs. Other
believe that are much wider benefits o f university education for both individuals and society. Discuss
both views and give your opinion.
Nowadays, many people are interested in university education for various reasons. Some people
believe that studying in a college help graduates to land up in better jobs however, others think that there are
much more benefits. In this essay, we will discuss both the perspectives.
Many parents want their children to complete their Masters as they can get a better job. Today, more
than 60% of the young population are degree holders as the importance of better curriculum is rising day by
day. Therefore, this creates a cut-throat competition in the job market. Hence, for people to grab the
opportunity they need to equip themselves with higher education. For instance, in my personal experience, I
was rejected for a Project Manager role because the company wanted to hire a university graduate even
though I had prior experience on that profile.
Moreover, Wide group of people encourage everyone to pursue higher education as they believe, this
can help them to build a better community. Further, they think that through better degrees people will have
the opportunity to meet people from various background, and, it gives them the space to accept each other
and grow as a team. For example, Harvard university researchers have confirmed that the crime rate has
drastically decreased in the community where educated people are more in number.
In conclusion, university studies should be encouraged as it has wider benefits. In addition, the
government should also introduce subsidies for underprivileged people to pursue their education. This can
help us to create a healthy and better community to live.
2. Computers are being used more and more in education. Some people say that learning online is
the best way to learn, whereas some claim that it is still better to attend a class with a teacher. Discuss
both sides of this argument and then give your own opinion.
Computers are widely used as a source of learning in the field of education. While few perceive it as
a positive development, some believe it has adverse effects. In my opinion, I believe computers have changed
the outlook of orthodox learning & has introduced comfortable yet interactive methods of learning for both
students and teachers.
Use of computers renders a variety of benefits for us to utilize. Firstly, students can learn online within
the comfort of their home. Secondly, it also helps teachers connect with students across the globe remotely
to teach. Thirdly, due to the vast amount of resources available on the internet, it is easy to explore more data
apart from the ones available in textbooks. Lastly, a lot of paper is saved since many universities are
conducting their exams online. For instance, University of California has rolled out a mandate wherein
students will take the exam online and in return will plant a tree within their campus as a part of their
environmental conservation.
On the other hand, few think that heavy usage of computers has made students and teachers distant
from each other. Students rely on the internet for their problems and interaction with teachers is minimal. As
most of the universities are adopting the use of computers to impart education, employing teachers has seen
a steep decline. Parents are worried that their pupils might get exposed to some illicit and inappropriate
content, which might not be good for them at a particular age. For example, according to a recent survey
from Cambridge university students between age of 15-19 fall prey to pornographic sites while fulfilling
their academic requirements online.
To conclude, the use of computers comes with its own merits and demerits, as humans we need to
adapt ourselves to new technologies to make our life easy. Using computers in the education sector can bring
some remarkable changes in the future. If used efficiently, it can empower teachers and students both, to
make learning more seamless and interactive.

In various nations around the world, a few persons believe that those material assets are very helpful
in bringing us satisfaction, whereas others think that they are purposeless in terms of provisioning
cheerfulness. I personally agree that material properties such as clothes, accessories, furniture, and car are
very practical in initiating us contentment. In this essay, I will illustrate both scenarios from my point of
view.
On the one hand, nowadays, people would be receiving their joy with material goods because of
globalization. For example, according to a recent survey, 90 per-cent of people around the universe, used to
spend money on their belongings such as digital gadgets, household things, and luxury vehicles. Moreover,
people want to enjoy their happiest life by maintaining material goods. Also, they feel that these material
things are status symbols in our society. Therefore, Material possessions are very practical in bringing their
pleasure.
On the other hand, some people argue that the basic needs of living things such as food, air, water, and
shelter are escorting their happiness. For instance, according to sources said, 85 per cent of people who are
of middle and low-class status are surviving with minimum needs in their daily lives. In addition, the
government is trying to facilitate the basic things to make them to happy. Consequently, middle-class people
would be completing their graduation and getting a high salary job in order to achieve a better life. Thus,
material possessions are so important in bringing their pleasure.
To summarise, most people think that material goods are essential to continue their happy life and also
it has social status symbols in our environment. However, some people live with common needs around the
world. In the given essay, the government encourages people to be literate and to increase their daily wages
in order to get material possessions to be lived a happy life.
TYPE 2: OPINION:
4. Computers are being used more and more in education and some people believe there will soon
be no role for the teacher in education. To what extend do you agree or disagree?
In the present age, computers have a great influence on the educational system. It is often argued that
computers may be replaced by real teachers in the near future. I completely disagree with this opinion and
think that teachers have a crucial role in pupils’ education.
First of all, I believe that teachers give children a sense of fulfilment that no computers can guarantee.
Although computers are excellent instructors and they teach various subjects more precisely than real tutors,
they can't communicate with students properly. For example, when students fail in their exams, a great
educator encourages them to study harder and rewards them if they get good grades. In other words, mentors
have an emotional bond with their apprentices.
Secondly, computers instruct people based on artificial intelligence, which may have a lot of bugs. For
instance, during the class, the computers may freeze and distract the trainees. Moreover, if children notice
their teacher isn't a real person, and it's just an AI, they may disobey them and not pay attention to their rules.
Finally, tutorage is one of the main jobs all over the world. Many people are interested in educating
children. They are like the second parents for students; therefore, despite educating science, they teach them
life lessons and talk about their own experiences, and they directly influence children’s choices and decisions.

To conclude, I strongly believe that real professors have an essential role in society, and computers
can't omit them from the educational community because they are in touch with pupils in reality, and students
obey them.
5. Some people regard video games as harmless fun, or even as an useful educational tool.
Others, however, believe that videos games are having an adverse effect on the people who play them.
What's your opinion on this?
In the developing and modern world, video games are increasingly attracting both the old and the
young, especially children. While they could play a positive role in our daily lives, I believe their
disadvantages out shadow the advantages.
On the one hand, video games could be regarded as an efficient tool in the aspect of education and
entertainment. Some games are designed with detailed instructions teaching fundamental skills for players,
such as Cooking Mama - a game that helps children know more amazing food recipes and develop their love
for cooking. Hence, their horizons are broadened and creativities are increased either. In addition, that catchy
tune, interesting plot and beautiful characters in that vital world of computer games relax the users after a
busy week.
On the other hand, video games make players become addictive and sooner or later they would be
contracted with various illnesses. Some people, especially teenagers, are too immersed in the unreal world
that they do not take care of their life anymore. They spend all day attaching eyes to the screen, trying to
progress the levels of the games; which results in the lack of time sleeping and studying. Research done in
Vietnam indicates that approximately 5000 students have to go to rehabs every year to quit computers and
mobile phones. The rise in the rate of obesity cases has also been linked in part to the sedentary lifestyle and
lack of exercise that often accompany game addiction
In conclusion, it seems to me that the potential dangers of video games are more significant than the
possible benefits.
6. The society would benefit from a ban on all forms of advertising because it serves no useful
purpose, and can even be damaging. To what extent do you agree with this opinion?
Nowadays, advertising of all kinds has increasingly become one of the most familiar marketing tools.
While some people believe in its value, others still argue against the popularity of advertisement. In my
opinion, despite certain drawbacks, the complete prohibition of advertising is actually unreasonable.
On the one hand, there are a couple of negativities involved in the development of advertising. The
first problem is about the low reliability of advertisements. Because the competition between businesses in
the same field is getting more and more fierce and severe these days, entrepreneurs are prone to deliver
distorted and exaggerated information about their products. Secondly, the presence of advertisement
sometimes turns out to be annoying to viewers. For example, some forms of advertising, such as TV
commercials or pop-ups, may unexpectedly interrupt while people enjoy their favourite programmes.
On the other hand, advertisements should not be absolutely banned for several reasons. To commence
with, the more strongly advertising develops, the more prosperous the economy will become. Thanks to
different kinds of advertisements, products and goods can effectively reach prospective consumers. As a
consequence, the market of businesses is likely to be expanded and the domestic production will also be
increased. Besides, customers can gather useful information about products they wish to buy from a wide
range of advertisements. They allow customers to carefully consider and compare brands before their
purchase. This is how they can make the wisest buying decision and do their shopping efficiently.

In conclusion, I am deeply convinced that advertising does more well than harm indeed. Although a
few forms of advertisement may appear to be unreliable and annoying, advertising really plays a crucial role
in boosting the national economy along with facilitating modern shopping process.

7. The Internet has transformed the way information is shared and consumed, but it has also
created problems that did not exist before. What are the most serious problems associated with the internet
and what solutions can you suggest?
Nowadays, information is easily passed via the internet and while this might have some positive
impact, it has created some damage to the society at large. some of these issues will be discussed further with
some possible solutions.
To begin with, the internet has become a problem for many, as people's lives are been put on social
platforms. Therefore, giving others a reason to comment negatively can result in depression and suicide in
some cases. For example, my friend committed suicide because of the comments she got on Facebook after
making a post. Secondly, the number of fraud issues has increased as fraudsters disguised as someone else,
scam people for money and valuables.
Some of these problems can be resolved by people checking the contents they post such as their card
details, verify their followers on social media, as some of these individuals aren't real. Also, individuals
should report pages and influencers who post false content. Another solution is for the masses to be
empathetic when it comes to public content so they don't end up causing more damage with their responses.
For instance, a celebrity in Nigeria got her followers to report a page on Instagram and sued the blogger for
defamation of character. Hence, I Believe if such measures are taken it would reduce some of the problems
facing this technological age.
In summary, the internet has brought about easier and faster Information sharing and Communication.
However, it has destroyed lives and caused damage to some. Hence, I believe that the internet will keep
advancing but deliberate measures need to be in place to reduce the problems.
8. In many western countries there is an increasing number of couples choosing to have no
children. What are the advantages and disadvantages to couples having no children?
In today's life, there are many couples who prefer to not having babies as a part of their lives. The
thinking process differs from one person to another as per their mindset. I will discuss both advantages and
disadvantages in this essay.
On the one side, there are vital positive sides to having no children. Firstly, two mature people have
the right to make decisions in their life. In addition, if they do not have kids, then they feel like free birds as
they can do anything and go anywhere without having any pressure. As a parent they are completely out of
relief regarding the future of their loved teenagers. For example, partners can go for vacations as many times,
they wanted to go. They have no responsibilities of any adults.
On another side, there are some disadvantages also. A pair of two human beings might face some
difficulties in their aged time if they do not have youngsters. When they really need someone to take care of
their health and routine. For instance, elder people might have some illness in future then they will require
more hands to get better. It is important to have minors.
In conclusion, I believe that there is some connection to support two lives together and live-in better
way with lots of help and love from each other. So, I think that western countries should give seminars to
couples to choose youth for their good life because kids are playing a big role for their parents.
9. Many people are working longer hours. Why is this happening? What problems can this cause
to people?
lOMoARcPSD| 45764710
5
Over the last few decades, the number of working hours has been increasing considerably. This is
mainly because of social pressures and economic recession which resulted in both physical and mental health
deterioration.
The primary reason that prolongs the duration of work is an expectation from society that pressures
individuals in education and work. The young generation has to spend numerous hours chasing their desired
goals just to meet the social standard. Take Thailand as an example, many students are forced to study in
medical schools, which requires enormous efforts to get in, because a doctor is a highly-respected career in
Thailand.
Poor economic condition is another reason why people must work longer. In other words, while the
cost of living is immensely rising, people’s wages are getting lower and lower. In order to afford fundamental
requirements of living, such as food, clothes, and residences, people need a larger amount of money.
Therefore, they have to work overtime to get paid.
Prolonged working cause a number of health issues related to sedentary life. When people sit in front
of their computers for a long time, it can cause them back pain and obesity. Additionally, people with obesity
are vulnerable to many fatal illnesses in particular diabetes, high blood pressure and heart diseases. In
addition, working too much contributes to stress which can lead to depression and mental disorders. This is
evident according to the British Broadcasting Corporation pointing out that more Japanese committed suicide
as a result of depression from work.
In conclusion, the majority of people around the world spend more time working owing to pressure
from society and bad economic situation. Consequently, this phenomenon brings about negative health
impacts.
