I usually stay at hotels when I travel, and most of the time, everything is fine. I like to choose nice
hotels because I enjoy relaxing after a long day of exploring or working. However, this time I am
staying at a hotel that has many problems. Right now, I am sitting in my room, and I am not happy.
First, the air conditioner doesn’t work. It is very hot, and I can’t sleep at night because the room
feels like an oven. To make things worse, the hotel staff don’t seem to care about the problems
I’ve mentioned. I call reception every day, but they just tell me, "We are working on it," yet
nothing changes. I’m starting to think they aren’t really trying to fix it at all.
Next, the Wi-Fi is very slow. I need to check my emails for work, but the internet keeps
disconnecting. Every time I try to open a website, it takes forever to load. My friend, who is
staying in the room next to me, is also having the same problem. We both try to connect, but it
never works for more than five minutes. I keep asking the staff to fix it, but they are completely
unresponsive. At the moment, I am waiting for someone to help with the internet, but I doubt they will.
Another issue is that the room is not clean. The cleaning staff come every day, but they do a
subpar job. There is dust on the furniture, and the bathroom sink still has water stains. I asked
the cleaners to please clean more thoroughly, but nothing seems to improve. Now, I am wiping
the tables and shelves myself because I don’t want to stay in a dirty room.
The hot water isn’t consistent, either. Sometimes it’s boiling hot, and other times it’s freezing
cold. I’m getting tired of asking for help with this issue, and the staff just keep saying they’re
aware of the problem. To make things worse, the bed is uncomfortable, and the pillows are flat.
I wake up with a sore back every morning, which makes it hard to enjoy my trip.
Also, the breakfast at this hotel is dismal. They serve cold coffee and dry bread every morning.
Yesterday, they didn’t even have fresh fruit. The restaurant staff are friendly, but the food is
terrible. Right now, they are preparing lunch in the kitchen, and I can already smell the burnt
food. I don’t want to eat here anymore, but there are no good restaurants nearby.
Finally, the hotel is very noisy. My room is on the second floor, and it faces a busy street. Cars
honk their horns all night, and I can’t get a good night’s sleep. I asked for a room change, but the lOMoAR cPSD| 48541417 TACSI _ HW Unit 1 Lecturer: Nguyen Ngoc Tram
hotel is fully booked. At the moment, someone in the hallway is talking loudly, and it’s making it
hard for me to focus on my work.
What bothers me the most is that they never apologize or offer a solution. This hotel was
supposed to be one of the best in the area, but I’m very disappointed with the service. If things
don’t improve, I will definitely write a bad review online. I expected a comfortable stay, but the reality is very different.

Three college students from around the world tell us about their daily routine. Ava from Australia:
I'm from a small town in Queensland. Most people in Australia live near the coast, but we live on
a cattle farm in the centre of the country. I get up at around 7am and have breakfast. My mum
teaches at my college, so I usually go with her in the car instead of taking the bus. College starts
at 8:30am and finishes at 4pm. When I get home, I help my dad on the farm for a few hours. In
the evenings, I try to watch TV but I'm usually too tired. I go to bed at about 10:00pm.
Nina from Norway:
I live in a village on Norway's Atlantic coast. I get up at 7:30am and walk to college. Classes begin
at 8:30am and finish at 3pm. After that, I go to one of the college clubs. These are not very
expensive and there are lots to choose from. I do athletics and football but you can also do things
like folk dancing and cross-country skiing. When my parents come home from work, my dad
makes dinner and we all eat together. After that, my mum takes me out for a driving lesson. I've
got my test soon and I need to practise! lOMoAR cPSD| 48541417 TACSI _ HW Unit 1 Lecturer: Nguyen Ngoc Tram Michael from Brazil:
I live in Rio de Janeiro. I get up at 6am and catch a bus to college at 6:30am. Lessons start at
7:20am. We have a break at 9:50am and then study until 12:30pm. I get home at about 1:40pm.
After that, I often go to the beach with my friends to swim in the ocean or play beach volleyball,
but l sometimes also just stay at home to sleep or study. In the evenings, I cook dinner for my
family, then we watch TV or listen to the radio before bed. I switch off my light at about 10pm.
