How to Do Part Two of the Cambridge PET Speaking Test
The test exams have 4 parts to do: speaking, listening, reading, and wring.
The PET speaking exams have 10 and 12 minutes in total. There are 2 candidates and 2
examiners. The examiner will set up the task, and instrucon twice, and describe a situaon.
Then discuss your ideas together with your partner, making and responding to suggesons.
You should discuss all the visual prompts, and not try to come to a decision too quickly.
1 Grammar and Vocabulary: How accurate you are as well as the range of your language
2 Discourse Management: This is how you link ideas, and how long and relevant your ideas
are
3 Pronunciaon: An accent is ne as long as you can be understood.
4 Interacve communicaon: This is how well you communicate with yourpartner. How do
you introduce an idea, give your opinion respond to what your partner has said, either by
asking quesons or adding to their comments
TIPS FOR SPEAKING TEST PART 2
Discuss each picture in turn. Talk about all the pictures in detail. Don't ignore one because
you don't know the vocabulary. Respond to your partner's ideas. this shows that you are
listening and makes the conversaon smoother and more natural. If you don't agree with
your partner, thats ne but say why. Give reasons for your ideas also as this will extend your
ideas.
II. Pracce
1. Test 3 photograph 3A
In the picture, I can see a football match between 2 teams. Team one is a red shirt and white
pants, team two white shirt, and black pants. The man in team one is coming and scoring in
the goalkeepers net. Behind are football fans. I think the soccer match in England with
beauful weather.
PART 2
A: Hi our school is going to a picnic at Dong Do lake. What do you think we should bring for
this trip?
lOMoARcPSD| 45764710
B: I think we should bring sandwiches because it is very convenient to bring and easy to
prepare.
A: I agree with you. Maybe we can bring a speaker to listen to music

A: I’m sure this journey will be interesng.
B: See you soon on Saturday
A: Okay, bye
2. Test 4 photograph 4A
In the picture I can see one group of people, they are riding a horse across the stream. There
are eight horses, the man with a cowboy hat goes rst behind is a woman with a pink shirt
riding a blond horse. At the far end, two kids are riding a white horse. I think they have quite
an excing trip with nice weather and rst-me ride a horse.
