SPEAKING:
TASK 1:
I. Wild animals
1. Do you like to watch TV programs about wild animals?
Without a doubt, I’m an avid animal lover. I adore any kind of
programs that feature animals, most especially the wild ones. In fact, I
never miss watching National Geographic documentaries because I can
learn so much about the wild animals’s behaviour, habitat, and anything
which I didn’t learn in school.
2. Did you learn something about wild animals at school?
Asolutely ! I think all of us did learn about wild animals in grade school
as every school provides lessons about animals in science class. I
remember we had some excursions to a national park where we enjoyed
watching crocodiles, monkeys and different kinds of lizards.
3. Where can you see wild animals?
Well, obviously at the zoo! That’s the only place where I can see
different kinds of wild animals at the moment. One day, I’d love to go on
a safari in some African nations and enjoy watching some other wild
animals. I think that’ll be an awesome experience.
4. In which country do you think you can see many wild animals?
Although there are numerous wild animals living in this country, I think
there are more wild animals in the African continent. Well, I believe
Tazania has the largest number of wild animals because of its dense
forest, but I could be wrong.
II. Food and cooking
1 .What sorts of food do you like eating most? [Why? ]
lOMoARcPSD| 46836766
2 .Who normally does the cooking in your home?
3 .Do you watch cookery programmes on TV? [Why/Why not? ]
4 .In general, do you prefer eating out or eating at home? [Why? ]
III. Musical instruments
1 .Which instrument do you like listening to the most? [Why? ]
My favourite musical instrument to listen to is the guitar. I like the fact
that there are different types of guitar, like classical, acoustic and
electric. I love the variety of sounds a guitar can make.
2 .Have you ever learned to play a musical instrument? [Which one? ]
Actually, I have never learned any musical instrument but if possible, I
would like to learn the piano and violin, the instruments that the best
musicians like Nicolo Paganini or Beethoven used to create legendary
extravaganza.
3.Do you think children should learn to play a musical instrument at
school? [Why/Why not?]
Yes, I think it's a great skill and it's really enjoyable to be able to play a
musical instrument. All children should be given this opportunity.
Learning to play an instrument stimulates the brain cells, improving
functions like memory and abstract reasoning skills, which are essential
for math and science. Music, in general, helps bring balance and
harmony in one's life. Children who learn to play an instrument have an
outlet for creativity and their emotions.
4.How easy would it be to learn to play an instrument without a teacher?
[ Why? ]
lOMoARcPSD| 46836766
It would probably be more difficult without a teacher. You need
someone to show you what to do and correct your mistakes. You need a
lot of discipline to teach yourself.
TASK 2:
I. Describe an activity you usually do that wastes your time
You should say:
Well, life has become extremely fast and busy, and people o 昀琀 en complain
that they are short on 琀椀 me, yet we waste a lot of 琀椀 me inten 琀椀
onally or uninten 琀椀 onally. Here I would like to talk about an ac 琀椀 vity
that I do regularly, and it wastes my hours easily.
The fact is that I am quite ac 琀椀 ve on social media, which is more like a
weed these days. It is a more prac 琀椀 cal way to remain in touch with friends
and rela 琀椀 ves as it saves a lot of 琀椀 me and energy when compared to
mee 琀椀 ng others personally.
But some 琀椀 mes, I feel I waste too much 琀椀 me on this. Firstly, I have a
huge network of friends who are ac 琀椀 ve on di 昀昀 erent apps like
Whatsapp, Facebook, Snapchat, Twi 琀琀 er, and others, and for their sake, I
always have to remain ac 琀椀 ve on these pla 琀昀 orms.
In addi 琀椀 on, people some 琀椀 mes share posts unduly and always expect
from others to comment, and a few of my friends are so obsessed that they
get angry with me if I don’t comment in 琀椀 me.
Similarly, every second day is someone’s birthday, and I have to spare 琀椀 me
to wish them. Moreover, these pla 琀昀 orms are bombarded with extremely
temp 琀椀 ng adver 琀椀 sements, and once I get on these sites to check
anything, I end up was 琀椀 ng a lot of 琀椀 me.
I feel very bad because now I am kind of addicted to using these pla 琀昀
orms. I can u 琀椀 lize this 琀椀 me more produc 琀椀 vely than I waste here
unduly.
So, this is an ac 琀椀 vity that I do regularly, which wastes a lot of 琀椀 me of
mine.

II. Describe a person who impressed you most when you were in
primary school.
You should say:
Oh, I remember when I studied in primary school, once I caught the flu in
winter. And I was so sick that I had to stay home for a couple of months. As
a result, I missed a lot of schools, and I found it really hard to catch up. I
particularly struggled with Math. I didn’t understand the teacher and
gradually lost confidence. My parents realized I would have to have
catchup classes to get to the same place as the rest of the class.
So my parents got me a private tutor to help me catch up in Maths. When I
first saw her, I thought she was an angel. She had long blonde hair and
was dressed to the nines. Later I realized I just loved that impeccable,
perfectly perfect look, all matched and prearranged. I wanted to be like her.
She was an amazing teacher as well. She impressed me with her kindness
and patience, dedication and commitment. She patiently and calmly
repeated the explanation when I couldn’t understand something. I was
looking forward to class each week. Soon I realized that she helped me
love Maths again.
III. Describe an item on which you spent more than expected.
You should say:
Well, I must say I am a frugal spender who really do not believe in wasting
money and spending it on unnecessary things. But, lately, for my cousin’s
wedding, I ended up spending too much money. The fact is that at this
wedding I was going to be the best man and I was super excited about it. And
of course, I wanted to look for something special on this day. For that reason, I
visited the branded store at the local shopping mall where I could buy some
party wears.
At this store, I was able to found what I was actually looking for. It was a pant
coat black in color and elegantly designed; the cost of this suit was 15,000 that
was too little high.
However, I liked it so much, so I decided to buy it. In fact, the sales guy showed
me a white silk shirt that would go really well with this pant coat, and he
compelled me to buy it. Finally, I paid 20,000 at this store and came back with
these two things, and later in the evening, I tried this attire to check my looks.
At this point, I realized that I did not have matching formal shoes to wear with
lOMoARcPSD| 46836766
this dress, so I went to the market to buy a new pair of shoes, and it cost me
another 4000 rupees.
Finally, I thought it was all over now, and I was ready for this wedding. One of
my friends suggested that this dress is incomplete without some accessories. I
must wear a tie or a bow and a brooch to look more classy and elegant. Hence,
I had to spend few more thousand rupees to get all these things now it was the
wedding evening.
I was beautifully dressed up, and I must say that I received hundreds of
compliments from my near and dear ones for looking so handsome in this
dress, and I realized that it was worth spending this much money.
