I think the most important thing when learning another foreign language is to really love that
language, really want to learn it and want to learn about it. Because when you really love it, you

I come from Hanoi, one of the cities with many good cultural values in Vietnam 2
. What do you do?
I haven't worked yet, I'm still an English language student at the Vietnam Academy of
Agriculture
3. What do you do in your free time?
In my free time, I often read stories or listen to music, sometimes I will clean the house and
listen to some music in the meantime.
4. How long have you been studying English?
I have been studying English for thirteen years. If I count from the time I started elementary
school, it is 13 years, and if I study English intensively, it is 2 years from the time I went to
university until now.

1 . What can you tell me about your hometown?
I come from Chuong My, a small countryside on the outskirts of Hanoi. That place is very
peaceful, not hustle and bustle, there are tall bamboo bushes leaning in the wind, green rivers
stretching cool and poetic.
2 . Do you work or study?
I haven't worked yet, I'm still an English language student at the Vietnam Academy of
Agriculture
3. What kind of work do you plan to do when you graduation?
After graduating, I plan to teach English in preschool, elementary or middle school. Because I
find teaching to be an extremely meaningful job.
4. How important is it for your to stay close to your family?
Yes, I think it is extremely important and meaningful for me to live close to my parents. I receive
care and attention from my parents. When I get sick, there will be someone there to take care of
me and worry about me.

1 . Do you live in the city center?
No, I don't live in the city area, I live with my family in the suburbs of Hanoi. Luckily, my
hometown is not very big so it only takes me a little more than an hour to get to the central areas
of the inner city.
2 .Have you got any hobbies?

I really like reading books, both paper books and e-books. I had this hobby when I was in high
school and have done it ever since. Reading many books makes me feel like I can expand my
mind and gain more knowledge.
3 .In your opinion, why do people learn English?
Nowadays, learning English has become so popular and widespread, it seems like everyone
speaks it, so I guess people don't want to feel left out. It opens up all new learning and job
opportunities, learning a new language is very good, why not!
4 .What is your attitude exercising?
I don't like sports or exercise, even though the benefits are obvious - it makes you healthier, your
body more flexible. I also like to have a balanced body, so I will try to exercise more diligently.

1 .Are there interesting places to go where you live?
Hanoi city has many famous tourist attractions such as Giasm Temple of Literature, West Lake,
Quan Thanh Temple, which are places where you can go out, visit and practice spiritual culture.
Of course, since this is the capital there are so many places to go that everyone will definitely
find something to their liking.
2 . How often do you meet up with your friends?
Nowadays, when we have to go to school far from home and each person studies in a different
place, we only meet once or twice a year to ask questions and tell each other what happened in
the past year. Even though we don't see each other much, we still text and call often.
3 .Who is more important to you - your friends or your family?
For me, family is still the top priority, because no matter what happens, family is always the
place to welcome and protect me when I want to return.
4 .What is your attitude to volunteer work?
Oh, that's a great thing to do! Helping someone in difficulty is a happy thing. I will occasionally
donate blood, and give those blood drops to patients who are less fortunate than me. Knowing
that someone has been better off from my help is wonderful!

1 . Have you got any brothers or sisters?
I am the eldest child in the family and then I also have a younger brother. He is sixteen years old
this year, studying in high school in my hometown. It's quite light and dynamic, I really enjoy
playing with it.
2 . What do you consider to be your greatest achievement so far ?
That's a hard question to answer… well, I think it means passing the college entrance exam, the
school my grandparents wanted to attend, but the economy at the time didn't allow them to

continue. learn. And my truly greatest achievement is being able to continue writing my dreams
for my grandparents.
4. Are you more comfortable alone or with other people?
Yes, of course I feel more comfortable when I'm alone, because when I'm alone I can do what I
like without asking anyone's opinion, wear the clothes I like and like, laugh freely. It's like
cooking food without having to cook it according to other people's wishes.
5. Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time ?
Hopefully I will graduate and find a stable teaching job. Teaching young children, giving the
knowledge I have learned to the children around me.

It is a Chuong My A high school in my locality. I went there because it was in the area we lived
in and was a top-notch school in my locality. I took math and physics as my main subjects so I
had a lot of classes in both.
2 .How do you usually relax?
I really like reading, so if I have an hour or so to kill, I turn on my e-reader to read or find a book
on the shelf. When I'm immersed in the words, I really feel my soul being relieved of pressure.
3 .What kind of food do you like?
If I talk about the foods I like, I think it's vegetable salad or salad with meat or fish. I like to eat
vegetable salad because it contains a lot of nutrients, is not greasy, is good for the body and
keeps the body in balance.
4 . How important is it for you to be successful?
For me, success is not having a lot of money in hand or becoming famous, my definition of
success is what I will achieve when I help others, fulfilling my own moral meaning. myself . -----

I live in a suburban area with mostly townhouses. It's a great place to live clean, quiet and
hassle-free, but commuting into the city can take longer than usual.
2 .How do you prefer to communicate with friends and family?
Nowadays I mainly use mobile apps to exchange messages with friends and family. I call when I
really have time or am not busy with studying. I prefer texting to calling.
3 . Is it easier to learn English alone or with somebody else?

In my opinion, practicing spoken language will be much easier when you have a companion to
practice with you. However, when it comes to self-study, I prefer to work on my own because
then I can do it at the pace I feel most comfortable with.
4 .Do you prefer go out or stay at home?
I'm a person who prefers staying at home, but sometimes I prefer to be outside. My friends keep
trying to convince me to go to parties or gatherings, if necessary I will go. I feel quite nervous
when having to talk to someone I don't know, I'm just too shy to approach people. Just talking
about this makes me nervous.

1 .What do you do For a living ?
I have a part-time job tutoring my younger brother. This is quite interesting, teaching my
younger brother and getting paid by my parents. That's how instead of giving me money to spend
on usage fees, they create jobs for me so I can see how the money is used meaningfully.
2 .Do you consider yourself to be particularly good at something?
I don't think I have any other notable skills or talents. I can do everything I want to do, there is
nothing in this world that I don't know if I haven't really learned it.
3 .Do you have any pet ?
I have a cat. She is a female tabby cat with 3 coats: black, white and yellow. Although the
arrangement of the fur color is quite messy, in my eyes she is still very cute. She often spoils me
and likes to be held by me, I love her very much.
4 .What aspect of learning English do you find most pleasant?
For me learning about the different cultures of native English speakers is really fascinating. In
another country there will be many different cultural identities.

I have to take the bus - I live quite far from here, although it is a suburb of Hanoi, it still takes
more than 3 hours to go.
2 .Do you live alone or with family?
I am currently living in the dormitory of the Agricultural Academy. Living in this dormitory
helps me shorten the time I have to go to lecture.
3 .Who does the cooking where you live?
Well, my roommate and I took turns preparing food. Depending on the shift, I will be the one to
come back first or last to cook.
4 .Do you prefer to plan ahead or live without doing much planning?

I fear the latter. I simply don't have the ability to plan - perhaps because I'm not very organized.
My father tried to teach me how to be more self-disciplined. Well, I guess it doesn't really work
for me - I still find it quite difficult to make plans and force myself to do things I don't like to do.
1 .Would you prefer to live in a big city or a small town?
I live in a populated urban area and I really like it there. There is always something to do, people
seem to be more open. I grew up here and I can’t imagine living in a more quiet, rustic place.
2 .Do you prefer to spend your time indoors or outside?
I have to spend a lot of time studying at school, so whenever I get a chance I try to get some
fresh air. I spend most of my weekends in parks or in the woods near my house, just walking and
contemplating things.
3 .How often do you see your relatives?
Most of my aunts and uncles live far from here, so I haven’t been seeing much of them recently.
In the past though we used to have extended family reunions two or three times a year.
4 .Is there any advice you could give to people learning English?
Oh, I don’t really know! I believe that persistence is key you have to dedicate some time to
your studying every day, even if you are not in the mood. It also helps to learn as a group so you
could support each other when you are about to give up.

What is your favorite place in the town where you live?
I really like the book cafe where I live. There are a lot of books there, so when I sit and read a
book in the shop, there is always a book I want to read there. Furthermore, the shop also has a lot
of green trees, making the air very fresh and pleasant even on hot days! Of course the drinks
there also suit my taste.
Do you think your interests have changed over the past few years?
To some extent maybe yes and maybe no. I used to watch a lot of movies, but now I no longer
watch movies and instead read books. Another thing is that now I eat healthy food and no longer
eat fast food.
How do you hope to use English in the future?
I hope to be able to use my English in teaching or use it to travel more in the future. Hopefully it
will also help me feel more connected to the cultural aspects of different countries if I ever get
the chance to go.
Do you prefer live music or recorded music?
I prefer live music because I enjoy listening to them live and singing with them, it really
immerses me in the music.

Is it easy to get around your city?
It's really easy when you have a motorbike! However, if you don't have one, we have many
public bus routes, you can get anywhere by this means.
Have you watched an interesting movie or read a book recently?
Currently I'm reading the book Genius on the Left, Crazy on the Right. I can't say that when you
read it you will find it as fascinating as I did but it is an extremely good psychological read.
Although it is related to psychological issues and the author's patients, you will see the magic in
each of these patients' minds.
What do you think is most important when learning a foreign language?
I think the most important thing when learning a foreign language is being able to speak it
fluently. If you can't, then learning will become meaningless.
Do you prefer watching the original movie?
If it's in English sure. My command of language is enough to understand whatever is going on,
except for some of the finer nuances and nuances of meaning. You know, it's pretty cool to hear
the voices of the real actors and not the dubbed versions.
