A lot of places in the world rely on tourism as a main source of income.
Unfortunately, tourism can also be a source of problems if it is not managed correctly.
Describe the advantages and disadvantages of tourism in the modern world.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from
your own knowledge and experience.
Nowadays, lots of countries consider tourism as a main source of income;
however, it can also bring a lot of problems if it is not managed in a correct way.
In the modern world, the traveller trade would certainly contribute to the
economy of the country and lead to an increase in the number of job
opportunities, but there will also be some drawbacks.
One evident benefit is that tourism is inclined to result in economic growth. In
other words, visitors tend to spend large amounts of money on accommodation,
transportation, food, and souvenirs. As a result of this, a considerable number of
the developing countries’ success is attributed to tourism. Another advantage
worth noting is that job opportunities increase as more sightseers visit local
areas. Obviously, increased demand from travellers boosts local businesses and
people who live in those areas benefit from employment opportunities in its turn.
On the other hand, there are obvious disadvantages to having the visitor trade.
First of all, historical buildings can be damaged by large numbers of visitors.
Apparently, the infrastructures of old buildings are not strong enough and can
easily be damaged by tourists’ reckless behaviours while visiting these places.
The second factor to take into consideration is that most of the supplies in local
regions are exhausted by visiting travellers. That is to say, visitors do not think
about the problems they cause and consume terribly without considering
inhabitants. To illustrate, one sightseer uses as much wood in a day as five local families in Khumbu.
To sum up, while there are significant plus points such as economic growth,
there are also some drawbacks to having the tourist trade. I would therefore
recommend that people should reduce the detrimental effects and try to enhance the positives. TOPIC:
In Vietnam nowadays, a majority of school-leavers make every effort to earn a place at university.
Why do you think this is happening? And what consequences may this trend have on society?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from
your own knowledge and experience.
In the past few years decades, Vietnamese people have witnessed an expansion
of high school graduates try to continue their tertiary education at an ever-
increasing pace. In this essay, an attempt will be made to explain the factors
responsible for this tendency and also discuss its probable impacts on society.
One of two reasons of this trend and its following results that should be
mentioned firstly are the conception about the guarantee of a successful career
after graduating from university. In other words, the university is believed to
prepare some skills for students to meet higher-level qualifications that most
employers expect these days. However, to adapt with the need of the huge
numbers of learners, a variety of universities are increasingly opened. As a
result, numerous teachers who even lack of good qualification are needed,
thereby being taught by such instructors, students would hardly gain the best
skills for their future profession. This trend would cause a serious employment
burden on society with the high proportion of unprofessional workforce.
Furthermore, the honour degree is the another reason behind this phenomenon,
which lead to several detrimental causes. To put it different, the fear of the
inferior of Vietnamese people makes teenagers keep to studying further. For
instance, in Vietnam, if a teenager studies at the management at a university, the
child next door will try to do this. Therefore, the imbalance in the workforce is
widely popular, which means that the figure for learners is much larger than for
workers. This result in obvious labour abundance and lost of national income.
To conclusion, I think teenagers in Vietnam are attempting to go to university
because of the belief of well job as well as the comparison of Vietnamese
people. Consequently, there could be detrimental influences on the society at large. TOPIC:
In today’s day and age, divorce between married couples is more common than ever before.
Why do you think this is happening? And what consequences may this trend have on society?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from
your own knowledge and experience.
The number of divorce cases is increasing day by day, especially young people
who have just got married and went to court quickly. This fact shows the
instability and unsustainability of today's families.
The fundamental and underlying cause of the increasing divorce, especially for
young couples, is their lack of life skills. They entered married life at a very
young age, did not have enough psychology, economy, health and necessary
knowledge for family life, overemphasized their own ego, paid little attention to
husband or wife, causing most young couples to have conflicts right from the
first months and years of marriage. Meanwhile, awareness of family life, the
meaning of marriage and superficial love has made them not have the courage
and skills to resolve and overcome the conflicts that lead to divorce. One of the
next reasons why divorce rates are increasing is that women are becoming
independent. Women have grown a lot in the past few years financially, socially,
and economically. There is no great dependency on the other person for these
things. Earlier they used to remain in a relationship even if it was an abusive
one, such as a dependency. Today, women are educated and smart enough to
take care of themself in anyone's favor.
Divorce harms children first, straining parent-child relationships, more or less,
whether expressed in one way or another, these children are all affected by their
circumstances, because the biggest loss from the divorce of parents to their
children, is that they lose a basic condition for development - that is, a complete
family structure. As for the couple's love life, after a divorce, the consequences
are a breakdown in each person's thoughts about a love or a bad relationship.
Many people after the divorce are affected without being able to move on and
find it difficult to be happy in the future.
To sum up, divorce is a free and voluntary right in marriage, but it also causes
many consequences for the family and society. In which, the most direct impact
of divorce cases is to hurt people involved, especially children born and raised in
families with divorced parents, it is necessary to have the cooperation and
contribution of all involved parties. The political system is determined to reduce
divorce to build a happy and sustainable family. TOPIC:
People who live in large cities face a range of problems in their daily life.
What are the main problems people in cities face, and how can these problems be tackled?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from
your own knowledge or experience.
In today's world, urban life has been associated with both positive and negative
issues. Although it is believed that those who live in big cities experience several
troubles daily. I consider the statement to be true and will highlight points to
explain why and also, how it can be resolved.
On the one hand, there are several problems people who live in large cities go
through in their daily lives. For example, recently a study proved that in New
York city, which is one of the most populated cities in the world, housing is an
issue as people find it difficult to easily secure accommodation. Secondly, The
traffic jam is another major concern as it inhibits free movement due to
congestion and the fumes emitting from cars in the traffic pose serious health
challenges especially later on in life. However, these large cities make it easy for
people to find jobs job due to the crowd.
On the other hand, some people think if there is a plan to decentralize the city
and people spread out, the accommodation problem can be resolved. For
instance, most large cities are concentrated on a spot. The roads should be
extended and alternative routes created to tackle the traffic. Furthermore, it
would reduce the amount of carbon mono-oxide people inhale daily leading to
fresher air and improved lives.
In conclusion, As much as It is known that people who live in the big cities face
several problems. In my opinion, I believe expansion is a key factor in tackling
them. With these solutions, people can live happier and healthier. TOPIC :
Nowadays many people have access to computers on a wide basis and a
large number of children play computer games.
What are the negative impacts of playing computer games and what can
be done to minimize the bad effects?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from
your own knowledge or experience.
Computers are being used so widely that it is easily observed that children
play computer games. While this is a concerning phenomenon nowadays,
there are both advantages and disadvantages to this. In this essay, both aspects
of children playing games will be discussed.
To begin with, there are certain benefits accruing from playing video games.
First and foremost, most computer games are online, which means that players
are communicating with one another all the time. This factor can improve a
child's ability to socially interact with other players, but also understand the
rules and context of the game. For example, the way gamers cooperate online
to achieve a specific goal is very similar to the way people communicate and
reach a compromise. In this process, children will naturally acquire
communication skills. As a result, they could become a smart and well- rounded adult.
On the other hand, there are not only bright sides to playing computer games.
Firstly, it is true that many games contain violent and sexual content. As far as
children aged under 7, this could be harmful to those who are still in time
when they build how to view and value the world. Furthermore, considering
the fact that kids are not as good at controlling themselves as grown-ups, it
seems definitely easier for them to be addicted to games, wasting so much
time on them. For instance, the more they focus on online relationships, the
more time they tend to spend on them. This is an occurring social problem,
especially after both parents are busy with their work, leaving their children alone at home.
To conclude, even though there are some detrimental disadvantages, I believe
that there are a lot more lessons that children can learn through playing games.
Having said that, since they are still naive, they should be paid attention to by their guardians. TOPIC:
Since the appearance of Coronavirus, online learning and teaching has
become popular way in the global education. Compare this way of
learning and the traditional one (in-person education).
Online learning increased in popularity as well as other areas of life that
looked to be affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, including student learning.
What makes this method of learning unique from others?
Online and in-person learning both aim to impart knowledge to pupils. Every
time a teacher enters the classroom, for instance, they create a lesson plan with
the intention of ensuring that the pupils comprehend and assimilate the
material. Additionally, regardless of whether the exam is taken in person or
online, every student takes it under the same stringent supervision. Students
must perform to the best of their abilities during the exam, and teachers will
be very vigilant in their supervision. Furthermore, all students want good
grades on exams, regardless of their study method.
Online learning and face-to-face learning each student has the same learning
attitude. Students still study and complete the lesson before studying. Teachers
still check each student's homework and study, so studying and preparing
lessons is an indispensable thing before learning. Participating in lively and
constructive speeches in class. For example, in class, you still raise your hand
to build lessons, interact with teachers to create a positive atmosphere in the
class as if you are studying directly. Have the spirit and responsibility when
studying. Whether it's online learning or traditional learning, it's all about
cultivating knowledge and skills. Therefore, the spirit and responsibility when
learning is a must for these two forms.
One obvious different is the method of communication. Traditional class
applies face-to-face learning method that allows teacher interact directly with
students. For example ,students could meet up with the instructors either in
class or during consultation hour. Students could also have informal
communication with friends. While online learning takes place in virtual
classes.Students would need to communicate with instructors and friends via e-mail, social network.
One obvious difference is the cost.Usually online courses cost less than offline
ones. Moreover, you will save a lot of travel costs when studying online. In
addition, learners can register for multiple online courses at the same time at a
discounted price. The next difference between online and offline learning is the
learning space. When studying online, you can choose for yourself a study
location that you feel comfortable in such as: in your room, coffee shop, self-
study room, etc. You will not be forced to study in a certain space like class.
Any method of learning will have benefits and drawbacks, but the key is that
if we know how to learn, it will be better. TOPIC:
Books and movies are considered as two popular tools of entertainment.
Write an essay to discuss the similarities and differences of these types.
Books and movies are two of the most important mediums for communicating
ideas to an audience. The two can be used for various purposes including
entertaining and informing. Books make use of written words to communicate
with the reader. On the other hand, movies utilize audio-visual technology to
communicate with the viewing audience. Books and Movies have a number of
significant similarities and differences.
A major similarity is that both books and movies set out to tell stories that are
often fascinating to the audience. Regardless of which medium is being used,
efforts are made to create stories that are going to be engaging to the reader or
viewer. For both movies and books, the story is a central part and the authors or
directors come up with themes and plotlines that can captivate and entertain the
audience. By using elements such as characters, setting, a conflict, and a
resolution at the end, book authors and movie directors are able to come up with successful stories.
Another similarity is that both books and movies make great use of characters,
though whom the story is told. Bordwell and Staiger note that the characters
used must be well suited to the story and they must be clearly distinguished from
one another. They are given personalities and used to fulfill the key elements of
the story being told through the book or the movie. In most cases, it is the
characters that make the audience regard a movie or book as superior or inferior.
A significant difference between books and movies is in the manner in which the
visual images are created. When reading a book, the reader has to use her
imagination to create a visual image from the words contained in the book. For
example, in the Harry Potter books, the reader is required to form her own image
of the various magical creatures. On the other hand, movies present the reader
with a ready visual image. In the Harry Potter Movies, the images of creatures
such as trolls and goblins are presented to the audience. The imagination of the
viewer is not required since the movie makers have already created the image
they want the audience to have.
To add more, you can complete a movie in one sitting while to complete a book,
you have to work hard and give a lot of time for it. Furthermore, you can do
anything while watching movies. For instance, you can do your assignment
while watching movies or cook food and watch movies. On the other hand,
while reading a book, you need to be fully focused on it else you don’t
understand what’s happening in the story. Besides, movies continue renewing
each week, whereas for a book to be composed and distributed takes a lot of time.
To sum up, books and movies are both adequate means of telling a story. While
the two make use of different technologies to communicate with an audience,
they have some similarities. These include the use of stories and the reliance on
characters to tell the story. However, the two have major differences in terms of
the level of imagination required of the audience and the use of details. Overall,
books and movies are important communication mediums that play a great role in our society. TOPIC:
These days, more and more people are going to other countries for
significant periods of time, either to find a job or to study. There are clearly
many benefits to doing this, but people who live abroad can face some difficulties.
Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of living and working in a foreign country.
Give reason for your answer and include any relevant examples from your
own knowledge and experience.
Nowadays, a growing number of people, especially young adults, find it
attractive to spend an extended period of time overseas either for a better career
opportunity or further education. However, there are both pros and cons to deciding to do this.
To begin with, heading overseas is a chance to broaden your horizons.
Specifically, you have the opportunity to meet people from different cultural
backgrounds and learn to cope with foreign customs and food while immersing
yourself in local culture. This can make you more rounded as a person.
Secondly, moving abroad can lead to a better quality of life. For example,
thousands of people from Vietnam move to Korea or Japan every year. These
countries offer more opportunities to work or study, so that you can gain
qualifications and language skills, which may improve promotion prospects on your return.
On the other hand, culture shock is a major problem. Many people take a year
out and find it hard to cope with the language barrier, the food and general
cultural differences. This often leads to homesickness and in some cases a sense
of isolation. Another difficulty you may encounter is that it can be hard to start
life from scratch. In other words, you have to make new friends and find your
place in the community. This process takes time and can be especially
challenging if there is also a language barrier to deal with.
To sum up, starting life in a foreign country is never plain sailing. Personally, I
believe the benefits in terms of personal growth eventually outweigh any negatives. TOPIC:
Housing and accommodation has become a major problem in many
countries around the world. What are some of the main factors that have
contributed to this problem? What can be done to help reduce the number of homeless people?
In the contemporary world, it requires a lot of effort to search for a
residence.Obtaining a shelter to live is a huge concern in most of the
nations. This essay would discuss the eminent factors that caused this problem
and also try to give solutions that can be used for decreasing the shelterless individuals.
To commence with, the most eminent and the foremost problem that has created
this situation is the population growth.Due to a steep rise in the birth
rates, people find it difficult to accommodate their entire family in a single
house and they try to extend it .As a result ,covering the entire area not allowing
others to build a new home.Another cause is the economic background. For
instance, as cities are developing rapidly, even a small apartment is rented at a
high amount. As a consequence, the unprivileged are left homeless.
However, few measures can be undertaken to decrease the shelterless
people. One immediate practical solution can be a continuous vigilance on the
population growth by the Government so that , permissions on the constructions
can be examined. A next solution is , people should be educated about the land
crisis so that they may plan the formation of their extra rooms in the
underground. For example ,rooms like a garage, storeroom ,etc. can even be
built at the cellar for efficient use of space. Thus leaving the space for new constructions.
To conclude, the right to shelter is a fundamental right and hence it is a nation's
responsibility to find the root cause of the problem and offer a home to all the
needy.Conducting a census every year and accordingly modifying the rules and
regulations of buildings erection can provide a shelter to many. TOPIC:
Nowadays we are producing more and more rubbish.
Why do you think this is happening?
What can governments do to help reduce the amount of rubbish produced?
Of late, humans are producing a ginormous amount of garbage - both domestic
and industrial. There are many causes for the proliferation of rubbish these days.
This essay delves into the causes and the remedial actions by the government to
subdue the acute problem of debris.
To begin with, the rapid growth of garbage is directly linked to the
overwhelming number of population. To elucidate, As the number of people
grows the number of products they consume also rises. This, in turn, inflates the
waste production. Moreover, to meet the growing demands, new industries have
to be set up which aggravate the situation further. To add more to that, modern
life is practising throw-away culture. As the name suggested, people are less
interested in using repaired commodities. Instead, they dispose old project and buy a new merchandise.
There are numerous steps that a government can undertake to alleviate this
condition. For instance, as plastic makes up almost 70 percent of the hoard of
garbage, many authorities have put a ban on polythene usage. The other steps
involve, government to exert strict ordinance to monitor the waste produced by
industries. Furthermore, they can take up the initiative to encourage citizens to keep their surroundings clean.
To recapitulate, the rise in population is the primary factor for an increase in
littler. Another prominent attribute is the fostering of the throw-away culture.
The government can take many measures to fight this problem. Few of them are
banning eco-unfriendly products, applying stringent supervising on factories and
encouraging residents to keep the community clean. TOPIC:
While mobile phones have many advantages a number of problems have
also resulted from them or the ways in which they are used.
What are some of those problems?
What solutions can you suggest for solving these problems.
These days, many people can not even imagine to live without mobile phones,
but beside so many merits of these devices, there are some issues that have
arisen from them and believe there are some measures that can be taken to tackle these problems.
One of the most important problems, brought about by cell phones is increasing
the rate and severity of driving accidents. This can be caused by a moment of
distraction from the road, even with the ring of someone’s phone. Furthermore,
this risk will be much greater when drivers try to text or reply a message while
driving. Another important issue which is caused by this technology is getting
people to live in virtual life rather than a real one. For instance, lots of youths
spend several hours on their phones, surfing internet and checking social media
while their family and friends are beside them and they look strange to each other.
The most important way to control and reduce the adverse impact of cellphones
is to limit their usage. For example, the police should forbid them while driving
and impose heavy fines on those who break the rule. Another example of
limiting the use of phones is placing some restriction and not using them more
than two hours per day.In this way we can concentrate on our job and build up real relationships.
In conclusion, misuse and overuse of everything like cell phones can obscure, so
many benefits that these gadgets can have and from my perspective of view, by
managing the way of using them we can take the advantage of them as much as possible. TOPIC:
In many countries insufficient respect is shown to older people.
What do you think may be the reason for this? What problems might this cause in society?
Showing respect to senior people is rarely seen these days in many nations. In
my opinion, I think this may cause by a change of living pattern and
independent attitude. Taking this etiquette for granted probably leads to violating the right of senior citizens.
Nowadays, the form of living has been changed a lot. In the past, people usually
lived in a big family which includes some older members. However, at present,
after becoming adults, most individuals tend to prefer separating themselves to
live in their own places. This creates a distance between them and their family,
especially their senior family members. A great example of this is the citizen of
western countries including the US. Additionally, being independent makes the
youngers feel that they do not need to rely on anybody, so they might think that
paying respect to older individuals is not necessary anymore.
Personally, I believe that if this culture is disappeared, it will cause a social
problem that affects the senior citizen’s rights. To illustrate, if the younger do
not care anything about the senior, they might take advantage of the older. For
example, public transportation normally provides reserved seats for those
seniors. If younger individuals do not pay attention to the right, they would take the seats carelessly.
In conclusion, I would say, showing respect by the younger to the senior has
been decreased due to the change of living lifestyle and freedom attitude.
Because of this, the senior may live more difficult compared to the past due to
older citizen’s right ignorance. TO PIC:
These days, in many countries fewer and fewer people, want to become
teachers, particularly in secondary schools.
What are the reasons for this, and how could the problem be solved?
Nowadays, the teaching profession is becoming quite challenging work to
choose, especially for secondary schools all around the world. I believe that to a
certain extent, this role demands more than it meets the eye. However, let me
explain some of the many possible reasons and solutions in my essay below.
There are several reasons, to begin with. First of all, the salary factor plays a
significant role. Despite all the efforts, teachers are not rewarded for their work
either with bonus or hikes like in any other fields which inevitably leads to a
poor standard. One possible way to solve this salary based curriculum is to give
a percentage of share in profits. Secondly, growth in such a field moves at snail
pace. For example, mostly all teachers from a decade ago continue to be in the
same position as of today. There is no change of scenery for them. A possible
remedy would be transferring program between schools for a certain period
which would enhance their horizons for self-growth.
Besides, fostering a conducive environment for pupils is difficult without proper
support from the administration. For instance, technology continues to yield
substantial benefits in the education field, but if higher-ups don't back up the
suggestions of teachers to use this costly equipment, then they can't exceed at
what they are best at. The possible solution for this is to get a subsidy from the
government to cover up for the costs.
In conclusion, being in a teaching profession is a lot more complicated than that
meets the eye but with proper financial support and encouraging programs from
the government will definitely help people to opt for these responsible jobs more.
