Khám Phá Hometown và Cuộc Sống Ở Thành Phố
PART 1.
1.
Tell me about your hometown
My hometown is Hung Yen Province, located in the west of the capital of Vietnam. It is also
known as Longan Land because this is the place that grows the most longan in the country.
Furthermore, Hung Yen is the birthplace of many figures such as General Secretary To Lam,
Nguyen Van Linh and poet Doan Thi Diem. The people here are especially hospitable and hard-
working, and the fresh air and beautiful scenery have made Hung Yen an ideal place to relax.
2.
How has your hometown changed over the last ten years?
→ My hometown has changed a lot over the last ten years. For instance, in the past, the roads
in my hometown were often small and difficult to navigate. This was one of the reasons why
the traffic accident rate skyrocketed. However, the roads have now been widened, improving
navigation. On the downside, this development has led to an increase in environmental
pollution, as exhaust fumes from factories and construction sites.
3.
Tell me about your neighborhood
→ My neighborhood is situated in the heart of the city, surrounded by bustling streets and tall
buildings. The neighborhood is close to various universities, so most residents come from a
variety of cultures and backgrounds. Moreover, the transport in the neighborhood is efficient,
with easy access to buses and trains.
4.
Is there anything you don’t like about your neighborhood?
To be honest, my neighborhood is not ideal for those who prefer peace and quiet because it
tends to be very noisy. My neighbors often sing karaoke in the evenings, which creates noise
and discomfort for everyone. Additionally, there are too few trees in the area, which contributes
to environmental pollution.
5.
Do you live in a house or in an apartment?
I'm currently living with a friend in an apartment in the Cau Giay district. Although my
apartment isn't very large, it feels cosy and includes two bedrooms. One of the bedrooms is
quite spacious, and there's a roomy kitchen as well. There's also a balcony where I can bring in
plenty of flowers.
6.
Is there anything you don’t like about your house?
To be honest, I enjoy my apartment, but the rent is far too high. It costs me a significant
amount each month. I think that I will need to relocate to a more affordable place in the future.
7.
My favorite room is the bedroom because I decorated it in my personal style, which makes
me feel happy just entering. I usually relax in my bedroom after a long, hard day at work.
8.
Do you like to look at the sky?
Yes, of course. When I look at the sky, I feel calm and peaceful. Especially when I'm in a bad
mood, looking at the sky helps improve my spirits. I often look at the night sky because that's
when it is filled with twinkling stars.
9.
Where is the best place to watch the sky in your city?
I live in the capital of Vietnam, where there are many tall buildings. I believe the best place
to enjoy the sky is in the parks. In the parks, you can camp, roast, and lie on the grass, and take
in the full view of the city's sky instead of watching the city lights from the balcony.

(dungdinh241206@gmail.com)
Well, I prefer the sky at night because there’s more to see, the moon, the stars, the floating
clouds, it’s relaxing. There’s not much to enjoy with the morning sky, sunrise at the beach
sounds great but I’d always prefer the night sky.
11. Do you know a lot about stars?
Unfortunately, I don’t know much about astronomy or celestial bodies. But I do know that
there’s only one star in the solar system, it’s the Sun. And there are countless stars in the galaxy.
12. Why should children learn about stars and planets?
Children should learn about stars and planets because it sparks their natural curiosity about
the universe. This knowledge fosters critical thinking skills, develops their imagination, and
encourages a love for science and exploration. Additionally, it helps them understand Earth's
unique conditions, promoting environmental awareness.
13. What was your favourite toy in childhood?
→ When I was a kid, I liked playing with cooking sets and dolls. I would spend hours in my
little kitchen, pretending to whip up fancy meals for my dolls. Moreover, when I played it, I
felt happy because it helped me to get bored.
14. Should parents buy many toys for their children?
I believe parents should avoid purchasing an excess of toys for their children, which can
lead to a decreased appreciation for their value and result in feelings of boredom. In addition,
rather than concentrating solely on quantity, parents should select educational, safe, and
appropriate toys for the child's age.
15. How do you define happiness?
Actually, happiness, for me, is quite simple. It comes from the little things, like enjoying a
delicious meal, wearing a beautiful outfit, or solving a challenging math problem. However,
for my classmate, happiness stems from having a big house and a nice car. Therefore, I believe
that each person's happiness is different and is shaped by their wishes.
16. Do you think art classes are necessary?
To be honest, I think art classes are essential as they play a crucial role in fostering creativity
and self-expression. Through drawing, painting, or crafting, students can explore their
imagination and develop critical thinking skills. Art also helps improve fine motor skills and
enhances emotional intelligence by allowing individuals to express their feelings visually.
17. What are your favourite kind of flowers?

Downloaded by ?inh V? T?n D?ng (dungdinh241206@gmail.com)
My favourite flower is the sunflower, which symbolizes positivity and happiness.
Additionally, it represents the perseverance needed to pursue one’s ideals and dreams, much
like how sunflowers always turn toward the sun.
18. Do people in your country give flowers as presents?
In Vietnam, people often give flowers as gifts on special occasions. The most common
flower is the rose. It is widely favoured due to its typical red colour, which is significant in my
country as it symbolises love and intense passion. Roses are commonly used during weddings,
dates, Valentine’s Day, and other special occasions.
19. Do you like chocolate?
Yes, of course. I really enjoy eating chocolate because it is delicious and makes me feel
happy. My favourite is dark chocolate since it is less sweet and has a richer flavour. I also
love trying different types of chocolate from various countries, as each one offers a unique
taste.
20. Do you often drink water?
Yes, absolutely. I usually drink about one litre of water every day because I believe it helps
improve my health and the appearance of my skin. However, I sometimes forget to drink water
because I’m actually up to my ears at work.
21. Do you like to smile?
I enjoy smiling because it brightens my day and spreads warmth to those around me. In
addition, to me, a smile symbolizes forgiveness, gratitude, and apology. When I have an
argument and realize that I was wrong, I smile to ease the tension and awkwardness, as well as
to express my apology to you.
22. Can you spot a fake smile?
→ I believe I can recognise a fake smile. Because I think that while smiles can be misleading,
the eyes reveal the truth, as they never lie. For instance, if someone is truly happy and
optimistic, their eyes tend to radiate warmth and brightness, giving off a happy feeling to others.
23. Can you tell us about your typical meal?
24. How has your diet changed over the past 10 years?
Actually, over the past 10 years, my diet has changed significantly. A decade ago, when I was
a child, I mainly enjoyed fast food, such as chips, soda, and cakes. However, as I grew older
and became an adult, I started adopting a healthier diet that included more vegetables.
25. Do you prefer to eat at home or in a restaurant?
To be honest, I prefer eating at home rather than at restaurants because I enjoy the cozy
atmosphere when my family gathers together. Additionally, eating at home helps me save

money, as home-cooked meals are generally cheaper than dining out. Furthermore, cooking at
home allows me to adjust the seasoning to suit everyone's tastes and needs.
26. Do you like reading?
Yes, absolutely. I love reading books because they help improve our reading and writing skills
and enhance our memory. Additionally, reading books fosters perseverance and endurance.
Furthermore, it can reduce stress and provide a sense of relaxation.
27. Where do you like to read?
→ library
28. What is your favourite colour?
→ My favorite colour is blue because it symbolizes calmness and peace, so when I get into an
argument, I often choose to wear blue clothes to remind myself to stay calm and find the most
reasonable solution to every problem.
29. What is your favourite number?
My favorite number is 8 because it symbolizes endless. Additionally, it also represents the
desire for growth and constant progress.
30. Would you say you have beautiful handwriting?
Honestly, my handwriting isn’t very good since I often use a computer for note-taking instead
of a pen and notebook. However, I can confidently say that my handwriting is neat and easy to
read.
31. Do you often make a list?
Yes, of course. Making lists helps me manage my time more effectively and remember what
I need to do. I often create lists of necessary items, which allows me to prioritize these items
and avoid wasting money.
32. Why do you think some people don’t want to make a list?
I believe the main reason some people avoid making lists is due to a tendency toward laziness,
as creating a list can be time-consuming. Additionally, some individuals dislike the feeling of
being restricted by a list; they prefer to engage in activities as they desire, regardless of their
importance.
33. Would you like to change anything about your home? Why?
34. Do you often use dictionaries?
Yes, of course. I often use dictionaries to learn new words, check pronunciation, and
especially to understand their meanings better.

35. What do you mostly use dictionaries for?
I often use dictionaries to check pronunciations, find synonyms for my writing, and especially
to understand their meanings more clearly.
36. If someone gave you a dictionary as a gift, how would you feel?
I will greatly appreciate any gift someone gives me, whether it's a dictionary, a book, or
something else. However, I don't think anyone will buy me a dictionary since my friends know
I prefer using online dictionaries.
37. What do you like to talk about?
I love talking about tourist destinations because traveling is my passion. It gives me the
opportunity to experience new things, meet new people, and relieve stress after challenging
days of studying.
38. Have your discussion topics changed since you were a child?
Yes, of course, my discussion topics have changed a lot. I remember that when I was in high
school with my friends, we mostly talked about the university we attended, the courses we were
taking, and the kind of person we were going to marry. However, our conversations now centre
on plans after graduation.
39. Did you find it difficult to concentrate when you were a child?
Yes, absolutely. As a child, I was generally able to stay focused in class. My natural curiosity
to learn helped me pay attention to the teacher and actively participate in discussions. However,
there were times when my mind would wander, especially during longer lectures or when the
topic wasn't particularly interesting to me.

Actually, when doing my homework, I need to concentrate the most. Concentrating allows
me to complete my work more accurately and quickly. Additionally, it prevents interruptions
in my thought process.
41. What do you do to help you concentrate?
I believe the best way for me to concentrate is by minimizing distractions, such as turning off
my phone notifications and placing my phone aside. Additionally, to enhance my focus while
studying, I often use the Pomodoro Technique. This method involves alternating between
periods of study and short breaks, promoting effective learning through spaced repetition.
42. Did you often go on a picnic when you were a child?
Yes, of course. When I was a child, I went to picnic places many times with my family and
my friends, and we enjoyed it a lot because I made delicious dishes and carried with me what
we all ate at that place, and we played many games there.
43. Do you often go on a picnic now?
Absolutely, I don't go on picnics now. The main reason is that the weather is quite cold now,
and my health isn't great, so I rarely go out for picnics at this time. Additionally, my studies are
currently very demanding, leaving me with little time for picnics.
44. Where do people in your country go for a picnic?
In Vietnam, people frequently go picnicking in parks because the air is very fresh.
Additionally, the abundance of trees in these parks helps individuals relax after a long week.
Near my house, there is a large park where, every weekend, people often gather in the grassy
areas to camp, grill meat, and fly kites.
45. Do you prefer to be alone?
Yes of course. Honestly, I enjoy being alone because it helps me reduce stress and pressure
from work and studying. Additionally, studying alone allows me to concentrate better.
Furthermore, being alone allows me to understand myself better and improve.
46. When was the last time you were alone?
Honestly, the last time I was by myself was last Sunday. My family went to visit my
grandmother, who was unwell, but I couldn't join them because I was busy with my homework.
I felt overwhelmed by all the work, so I decided to stay home alone to have a quiet space to
finish my homework.

PART II. Describe a time when you have to make a difficult decision
If I had to talk about making a difficult decision, it would be the decision on which university
I would go to. After graduating from high school in 2023, I had to make a difficult decision. I
struggled with one of my most important decisions: choosing the university I would enrol in.
That period of time was really difficult for me because I didn't know what my strengths and
weaknesses were. In addition, my parents wanted me to pursue economics, so I had to choose
National Economics University. However, I like reading, analyzing and reading law so I want
to go to Hanoi University of Law. I feel scared and worried because everything is new, strange
and difficult for me. Then, I told my sister all my worries, so she helped me create a detailed
information sheet about the majors and schools she was familiar with to help me choose the
right school. I am very grateful to her, as she has always supported me during this time. Now,
I am a second-year student majoring in international trade law at Thuong Mai University. After
two years in this major, I believe I made the right choice. I can study law, which I love, while
also incorporating economics, which my parents value. Studying law at an economics school
allows me to gain knowledge in both fields.
PART 3
1. What are typical choices people make at different stages of their lives?
Actually, I think people have to make various choices at different stages of their lives. As
students, we decide whether to study at a school close by or far away from home. As adults,
our choices typically revolve around family, personal aspirations, and social relationships such
as career, marriage and travel. Moreover, many young people choose to work hard and save
money, with the intention of retiring comfortably when they're older.
2. Should important choices be made by parents rather than young people?
To be honest, I believe that important decisions should be made by young people rather than
their parents. Of course, they can seek advice from their parents and other persons to make
“informed” decisions, but the ultimate choices should be made by the young adults themselves
since they will have to live on their own at some point in their lives. Besides, making important
choices will also help young adults become more responsible and confident in their lives.

3. Do you think that people today have more choices to make than in the past?
I believe that people today have more choices than in the past. For instance, one of the most
significant decisions in a person's life is choosing a university. In the past, there were very few
universities that specialized in economic law, but now there are many options for students to
choose from. This has created a greater range of choices for those pursuing this major.
4. Why do some people like to discuss choices with others?
I think some people like to discuss choices with others because they are not sure about their
choices so they are seeking some good advice to help them make a good decision. For instance,
when selecting a major, relying on information found on the Internet may not provide a clear
what that major entails. By engaging in discussions with other people who have studied the
major, you can gain a clearer understanding of this major and make an informed decision.
PART 2: Describe an important letter/ email/ text message you have received
I’m going to talk about an important letter, which was a letter of acceptance from my
dream university. I remember that two year ago when I received it, I immediately felt
happy as a clam because this letter confirmed that I had been accepted into my chosen
major, which was International Trade Law, of the Thuong Mai University. Moreover,
there was information on the enrollment process, such as time, location, and necessary
documents. In addition, the letter was clear and tidy, and the handwriting of the
principal was beautiful; so I had no difficulty in reading and understanding it.
Especially, the writing style was sincere and formal. Furthermore, this letter was truly
important me because it meant that my hard work and determination paid off. I had to
burn the midnight oil for a long time until I felt exhausted and collapsed on the table.
Additionally, it also confirmed that my dream had come true and I could experience a
new life at my dream university and lots of things were waiting for me to explore.
Although it’s been one year, I still feel wonderful whenever I think about the moment I
received this letter.
PART 3
1. Why is it that some people today dislike sending text messages?
lOMoARcPSD| 46560390
8
Downloaded by ?inh V? T?n D?ng (dungdinh241206@gmail.com)
As far as know, there are several reasons why some people are not interested in sending text
messages. Firstly, the text messages may be misinterpreted and may lead to misunderstanding.
Therefore, people prefer to make a call or meet face to face with confidential information.
Moreover, most elderly people have various difficulties in typing and reading texts as they can't
see the screen and the steps to operate the phone are too complicated for them.
2. What’s the information that cannot be communicated through text messages?
Let me see, there are some kinds of information that should not be communicated through
text messages. The first thing I can think of is confidential information such as bank accounts
or passwords. Otherwise, they can be leaked, which can make you meet dangerously.
Moreover, When people need to express their deep feelings, they should not use text messages.
For example, if a boy confesses his feelings through messenger, most of the girls may think
that he is rude and not serious.
3. Do you think it’s still a fantastic way to deliver information using conventional mails?
Well, I disagree with this idea because conventional mail has become less popular due to
other types of communication, such as emails, messengers or zalo. One possible reason could
be that it takes a long time for conventional mail to reach its receiver. Meanwhile, people using
emails or Facebook Messenger can communicate instantly. Moreover, while sending emails is
free of charge, people have to pay to send conventional mail.
PART 2: Describe your ideal house
If I had to describe my ideal house, it would be a mansion in the countryside, especially
a three-storey house. It would be surrounded by a picturesque garden full of trees and
flowers, making the house space greener and the air fresher. Overall, the house would
look classic and spacious because I quite like classical architecture in France.
Additionally, it would be painted grey and white which are my favourite colour. In
addition to basic rooms such as a bedroom, living room, kitchen, and bathroom, my
ideal house will have several additional rooms because my family has many members.
Besides, there would be a garden, I would hang some photos or pictures of family

members on the walls to create a cosy space. I prefer not to have a lot of unnecessary
furniture in my house because I want to create more open space for

enjoyment. Keeping things minimal also helps me save time when cleaning.
Additionally, having too many items makes the place look messy. The most important
thing in my house would be the garden where I could plant various flowers and trees
such as avocados, roses, sunflowers...The first reason this is my ideal house is that I
would be able to decorate it according to my preferences, something I can't do in my
rented room. Secondly, this house would allow me to reduce tedious household chores
by equipping it with smart devices such as washing machines, vacuum cleaners, and
air conditioners. That’s all I want to share about my ideal house.
PART 3:
1. What is the biggest difference between living in a city and the countryside?
Well, obviously, there are a number of distinctions between living in an urban area and a rural
area. I guess that the most significant would be the cost of living. In large cities, high population
density increases demand for housing and services such as education, healthcare, and
entertainment, which drives up costs. By contrast, rural areas have lower population densities,
making everything more affordable. Additionally, residents in rural areas can often produce
essential items like meat, vegetables, and fish further reducing living expenses.
2. What are the difference between living in a house and an apartment?
There are a number of distinctions between living in a house and an apartment. Firstly, a
house offers greater privacy than a flat because people living in a flat have to share lifts,
hallways, and walls. Secondly, a house provides more freedom to decorate living spaces. By
contrast, a flat may restrict decoration due to the potential disturbance it might cause to
neighbors.
3. Why do people want to own houses?
I think that a large number of people desire to own houses for several reasons. To begin,
owning a home provides a sense of stability and security. Unlike renting, where tenants may
face rent increases or the possibility of eviction, homeowners have control over their living
situation. Additionally, owning a house allows individuals the freedom to decorate their living
spaces according to their personal preferences.

Part 2: Describe an out-door market that you visited
If I had to talk about an outdoor market that I visited, it would be Nom Market, the
traditional market of my hometown. This market is located in Hung Yen, in the northern
part of Vietnam, and it is about 500 meters from my house. The market opens quite
early, starting at 5:30 a.m. and lasting until 11:00 a.m., with the busiest time around
7:30 a.m. Notably, the market may stay open later or all day during the days leading up
to Tet. Covering an area of approximately 2,000 square meters, Nom Market is one of
the largest markets in Hung Yen. It is usually most crowded and lively on market days,
which are held on odd days according to the lunar calendar. I enjoy visiting this outdoor
market because it offers a wide variety of goods, including fruits, vegetables, meat,
clothing, and jewellery. Moreover, I am particularly impressed by the vibrant
atmosphere of the market. I make a point to visit every weekend to relax and escape
from the concrete jungle of the city. Right next to the market, there is a temple that is
hundreds of years old. Whenever I feel tired or stressed with life, I stroll through the
market and then stop by the temple, enjoying the lively ambience. The bustling energy
of the market combined with the peace and freshness of the temple creates a unique
experience for me. That's all I want to share about the Nom market.
Part 3:
1. Do you think young people feel the same about shopping at markets like old people?
Why?
I personally agree with this idea. I believe that visiting the market can help young people
develop various skills, including communication, analysis, and problem-solving. For instance,
when young people go shopping and are charged too high a price, an elderly person can teach
them how to bargain for a better deal. Furthermore, the lively and bustling atmosphere of the
market can also serve as a stress reliever for young people while they are working.
2. What are the advantages of buying things from shops rather than markets?
There are several benefits of purchasing things from shops compared to markets. Firstly,
shops often have security guards and cameras, making them safer and more secure, which helps
protect customers from pickpockets. Additionally, shops employ trained sales staff who can

assist buyers in selecting suitable clothing. This support enables customers to make informed
decisions.
PART 2: Describe an extreme sport you would like to try
I am going to talk about a risky sport I would like to try, which is snowboarding. It’s one
of the most popular extreme sports around the world. In this sport, participants ride on
a board down steep snow-covered hills. To participate, one needs special equipment,
including a snowboard, ski suit, gloves, goggles, and a helmet. I think Sweden is the
best place to try this sport because it is the hometown of snowboarding. Moreover, I
have seen on the Internet that Sweden has heavy snow, which creates many beautiful
snow mountains, and the landscape looks breathtaking. This sport is truly challenging
and demanding. Especially for me, who has never seen snow in real life, it is essential
to have an experienced guide with me to minimize risks and dangers. Although
snowboarding is classified as an extreme sport, I still want to try it because it offers a
sense of freedom that helps me relieve stress and pressure from my studies. It also
encourages me to step out of my comfort zone, face my fears, and push my limits.
Moreover, I believe participating in this sport will provide me with excitement,
satisfaction, and a sense of achievement. That’s all I want to share about snowboarding.
PART 3
1. What are the advantages of taking risks, such as starting a business?
→ I think there are some benefits that taking risks brings about. Firstly, it helps people develop
new skills and discover new abilities. For example, when starting up, people will undoubtedly
face numerous challenges and moments of discouragement. However, facing these difficulties
can lead to the development of valuable skills, including communication, problem-solving, and
time management. Moreover, I believe that overcoming these challenges encourages
individuals to step out of their comfort zones and embrace new opportunities.
2. Does taking risks always lead to desirable results?
I disagree with this idea because taking risks can lead to undesirable outcomes, such as
failure. A significant reason for this is the lack of preparation. Additionally, people often lack
the necessary knowledge, experience, and skills to handle the challenges that arise, which can
ultimately result in failure. Moreover, another reason could be unpredictable factors. For
example, inflation, and the pandemic.

3. What skills should young people learn before taking risks?
→ Before taking risks, it’s necessary for young people to learn certain skills. I believe the most
important skill is problem-solving, as it enables individuals to tackle challenges effectively.
Additionally, communication skills are crucial because they help people express their ideas,
work in teams, and seek assistance from friends and family, especially potential investors.
4. Should teachers and parents encourage children to take risks?
Yes, of course. Because taking risks can bring various benefits to children. Taking risks
helps children step out of their comfort zones, and explore new things, especially learn new
skills and lessons. Through this experience, children can grow more mature and independent
by facing various challenges. However, teachers and parents need to provide guidance, support,
and supervision throughout the process of taking risks.
PART 2. Describe a place that you have visited that has been affected by pollution → If I
had to talk about a place that has been affected by pollution, it would be Hanoi, which was the
capital city of Vietnam. I’ve been living here for around 2 years. When I first came here, I was
so surprised at how polluted the city is. It’s so different from my hometown which is a green
and clean rural area. There are many types of pollution in this area, such as air pollution, water
pollution and even noise pollution. Especially, the most serious one is air pollution. This
problem results from gas emissions from vehicles and exhaust fumes from factories. There are
so many vehicles on the streets during the rush hour. In addition, trash is often seen in rivers
and lakes because some people throw their waste into these community water sources without
realizing the harm they cause. It is even more alarming that some factories dump untreated
industrial waste into rivers, resulting in many of them becoming black and foul-smelling. Air
pollution significantly impacts people's health, leading to respiratory diseases such as asthma
and lung cancer. Water is polluted so people may face a lack of potable water and even cancer.
The government should limit private transportation and encourage people to use public
transport, such as buses, and trains. Additionally, enacting strict laws to prohibit single-use
plastics and increasing fines for individuals and companies that release untreated waste into the
environment. Moreover, people can use cloth bags instead of plastic bags when shopping,
helping to reduce plastic waste.
PART3.
1. What causes environmental pollution?
lOMoARcPSD| 46560390
14
Downloaded by ?inh V? T?n D?ng (dungdinh241206@gmail.com)
As far as I know, there are several causes of environmental pollution. The cause of air
pollution is due to gas emissions from vehicles and exhaust fumes from factories. Moreover,
the overuse of plastic products, such as plastic bags and bottles can lead to soil and water
pollution. Natural disasters, including floods and storms, are also a factor in environmental
pollution.
2. What can people (individuals) and the government do to reduce pollution?
I think there are a number of methods to deal with pollution. People can create
environmental campaigns, for example, cleaning rivers, planting trees, and introducing new
types of materials that can replace plastic. In addition, people can also usually use cloth bags
instead of plastic bags. Besides, the government should introduce a strong law that prohibits
single-use plastics and increase fines for individuals and companies that release untreated waste
into the environment.
3. What’s the difference between the old and the young as regards
environmentalprotection?
I think each generation has their own way of protecting the environment. The older
generation prefers to purchase and use eco-friendly. For example, they usually use cloth bags
instead of plastic bags when going to the market. They tend to choose clothes or furniture that
have designs, colours, and materials that are durable and do not go out of style. The younger
generation, who is more energetic, is more likely to take part in various environmental
campaigns, such as planting trees and cleaning up rivers.
PART 2. Describe a skill that you have tried to learn
If I had to talk about a skill that I have tried to learn, it would be time-management skills.
There were several reasons why I started learning this skill. The first reason was that after
entering my dream university, I still kept the same way of studying as in high school, which
made it impossible for me to balance my studies, work and personal life. As a result, my grades
get low scores. In addition, not being able to manage my time also made my health worse,
because I spent too little time taking care of my health. I learnt this skill through various ways.
Firstly, I sought advice from the internet and found some useful videos about time-management
skills. Moreover, I also reached out to my sister, who shared her strategies for managing her
time during university. With her guidance, I learned to prioritize my studies over mindlessly
scrolling through social media. These resources helped me identify my weaknesses and
motivated me to make positive changes. As a result of developing this skill, I have solved many

of the problems I faced. Furthermore, I have more time for myself, which has made my lifestyle
healthier, especially since I have been earning high scores on my exams.
PART 3.
1. What skills are important in business?
As far as I know, there are several important skills in business. One of the most important
skills is communication. It allows individuals to express their ideas clearly, collaborate in
teams, and seek assistance from friends, family, and potential investors. Additionally, financial
management skills are essential for business owners. These skills help them understand and
manage their company's financial needs effectively, which is vital to avoid potential
bankruptcy.
2. What’s the difference between the skills acquired in the past and the skillsacquired
nowadays?
→ In my opinion, there are some differences between the skills people could obtain in the past
and nowadays. In the old days, people used to learn hunting, gardening skills, and making fire
because it helped them serve basic needs such as eating, drinking and keeping warm. In
contrast, in modern times, people tend to learn skills related to technology, languages, and
teamwork to thrive in a fast-paced world and secure high-paying job opportunities.
3. What skills will be needed in the future?
→ Well, there are several skills that will be necessary in the future. To begin, one of the most
vital skills is technological skills because it helps people keep up with the latest developments
and complete tasks more efficiently. Moreover, active learning is a crucial skill for the future.
It allows people to adapt to our rapidly changing world and prevents them from becoming out-
dated.
PART 2. Describe a piece of furniture
If I had to choose a favourite piece of furniture, it would be my bookshelf. This bookshelf
is made of solid wood, making it incredibly sturdy and durable. It features a traditional design
that gives it a simple, rustic look. The colours white and blue, which are my favourites, and
together they make the bookcase a lovely decoration for my room. I remember that when my
father bought it for me as a reward for achieving a high score. We visited a furniture store, and
thanks to my mothers excellent bargaining skills, we managed to get it for a good deal of 3
million VND. I love this bookshelf because it has been a part of my life since childhood,

holding many cherished memories. Since I enjoy reading, I often use most of my savings to
purchase books. My collection includes novels, comics, history books, and science books. Too
many books and stuff made my room messy and cluttered. And the bookshelf helps me stay
organized, as it has plenty of drawers for storing my belongings, keeping my room neat and
stylish.
PART 3.
1. Do you think the quality of furniture is more important than how it looks?→ In my
opinion, both quality and looks are very important because high-quality furniture
typically offers better durability, allowing it to be used for many years. Additionally,
it also helps us less money to spend on shopping. Furthermore, furniture that looks
beautiful can enhance the decor of a home. Especially, it can also reflect the
personal style of the owners.
2. Do people in your country prefer traditional or modern styles of furniture?→ Well,
I think it depends on some factors such as age and location. Old people or people
living in the countryside often prefer traditional furniture styles. This preference is
often rooted in nostalgia (/nɒˈstæld ə/)ʒ , as these styles remind them of cherished
memories from the past. By contrast, young people and people living in the city
tend to favour modern furniture styles for their homes or apartments, as they wish
it to look young and modern. Furthermore, it brings them more convenience. For
instance, chairs can often double as tables, helping to keep living spaces organized,
neat, and stylish.
3. What will houses be like in the future?
→ I think in the future houses will change significantly. With the population increasing, there
will be fewer traditional houses and more high-rise buildings, as less land will be available for
construction houses, so people usually tend to choose to stay in apartments. Moreover,
advancements in technology will lead to the development of more smart homes. These houses
will be equipped with AI and robots, and they will use solar energy to help save money.
Furthermore, people are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of environmental
protection, which will lead to the use of sustainable and eco-friendly materials in construction,
such as recycled materials and bamboo.
4. Are houses nowadays the same as houses 30 years ago in your country?
Well, houses in the modern days are definitely different from houses from 30 years ago.
Firstly, scientific breakthroughs have led to homes being equipped with various smart
appliances, such as water heaters and washing machines. In the past, houses were furnished

with wooden furniture, which gave them a luxurious appearance but often created a stuffy
atmosphere. Nowadays, many people prefer minimalist styles that blend modern and traditional
elements, resulting in homes that look modern, clean, and elegant.

Khám Phá Hometown và Cuộc Sống Ở Thành Phố PART 1.
 To be honest, my neighborhood is not ideal for those who prefer peace and quiet because it
tends to be very noisy. My neighbors often sing karaoke in the evenings, which creates noise
and discomfort for everyone. Additionally, there are too few trees in the area, which contributes to environmental pollution.
5. Do you live in a house or in an apartment?
→ I'm currently living with a friend in an apartment in the Cau Giay district. Although my
apartment isn't very large, it feels cosy and includes two bedrooms. One of the bedrooms is
quite spacious, and there's a roomy kitchen as well. There's also a balcony where I can bring in plenty of flowers.
6. Is there anything you don’t like about your house?
→ To be honest, I enjoy my apartment, but the rent is far too high. It costs me a significant
amount each month. I think that I will need to relocate to a more affordable place in the future.
7. What is your favorite room?
My favorite room is the bedroom because I decorated it in my personal style, which makes
me feel happy just entering. I usually relax in my bedroom after a long, hard day at work.
8. Do you like to look at the sky?
Yes, of course. When I look at the sky, I feel calm and peaceful. Especially when I'm in a bad
mood, looking at the sky helps improve my spirits. I often look at the night sky because that's
when it is filled with twinkling stars.
9. Where is the best place to watch the sky in your city?
I live in the capital of Vietnam, where there are many tall buildings. I believe the best place
to enjoy the sky is in the parks. In the parks, you can camp, roast, and lie on the grass, and take
in the full view of the city's sky instead of watching the city lights from the balcony.

Do you like to watch the sky in the morning or in the evening?
Downloaded by ?inh V? T?n D?ng (dungdinh241206@gmail.com) lOMoAR cPSD| 46560390
Well, I prefer the sky at night because there’s more to see, the moon, the stars, the floating
clouds, it’s relaxing. There’s not much to enjoy with the morning sky, sunrise at the beach
sounds great but I’d always prefer the night sky.
11. Do you know a lot about stars?
Unfortunately, I don’t know much about astronomy or celestial bodies. But I do know that
there’s only one star in the solar system, it’s the Sun. And there are countless stars in the galaxy.
12. Why should children learn about stars and planets?
Children should learn about stars and planets because it sparks their natural curiosity about
the universe.
→ I believe parents should avoid purchasing an excess of toys for their children, which can
lead to a decreased appreciation for their value and result in feelings of boredom.
To be honest, I think art classes are essential as they play a crucial role in fostering creativity
and self-expression. Through drawing, painting, or crafting, students can explore their
imagination and develop critical thinking skills. Art also helps improve fine motor skills and
enhances emotional intelligence by allowing individuals to express their feelings visually.
17. What are your favourite kind of flowers? 1 Downloaded by ?inh V? T?n D?ng (dungdinh241206@gmail.com) lOMoAR cPSD| 46560390
→ My favourite flower is the sunflower, which symbolizes positivity and happiness.
Additionally, it represents the perseverance needed to pursue one’s ideals and dreams, much
like how sunflowers always turn toward the sun.
18. Do people in your country give flowers as presents?
→ In Vietnam, people often give flowers as gifts on special occasions. The most common
flower is the rose. It is widely favoured due to its typical red colour, which is significant in my
country as it symbolises love and intense passion. Roses are commonly used during weddings,
dates, Valentine’s Day, and other special occasions. 19. Do you like chocolate?
Yes, of course. I really enjoy eating chocolate because it is delicious and makes me feel
happy. My favourite is dark chocolate since it is less sweet and has a richer flavour. I also
love trying different types of chocolate from various countries, as each one offers a unique taste. 20. Do you often drink water?
Yes, absolutely. I usually drink about one litre of water every day because I believe it helps
improve my health and the appearance of my skin. However, I sometimes forget to drink water
because I’m actually up to my ears at work. 21. Do you like to smile?
→ I enjoy smiling because it brightens my day and spreads warmth to those around me. In
addition, to me, a smile symbolizes forgiveness, gratitude, and apology. When I have an
argument and realize that I was wrong, I smile to ease the tension and awkwardness, as well as to express my apology to you.
Actually, over the past 10 years, my diet has changed significantly. A decade ago, when I was
a child, I mainly enjoyed fast food, such as chips, soda, and cakes. However, as I grew older
and became an adult, I started adopting a healthier diet that included more vegetables.
25. Do you prefer to eat at home or in a restaurant?
To be honest, I prefer eating at home rather than at restaurants because I enjoy the cozy
atmosphere when my family gathers together. Additionally, eating at home helps me save 2

money, as home-cooked meals are generally cheaper than dining out. Furthermore, cooking at
home allows me to adjust the seasoning to suit everyone's tastes and needs. 26. Do you like reading?
Yes, absolutely.
→ My favorite number is 8 because it symbolizes endless. Additionally, it also represents the
desire for growth and constant progress.
30. Would you say you have beautiful handwriting?
Honestly, my handwriting isn’t very good since I often use a computer for note-taking instead
of a pen and notebook. However, I can confidently say that my handwriting is neat and easy to read. 31. Do you often make a list?
Yes, of course. Making lists helps me manage my time more effectively and remember what
I need to do. I often create lists of necessary items, which allows me to prioritize these items and avoid wasting money.
32. Why do you think some people don’t want to make a list?
I believe the main reason some people avoid making lists is due to a tendency toward laziness,
as creating a list can be time-consuming. Additionally, some individuals dislike the feeling of
being restricted by a list; they prefer to engage in activities as they desire, regardless of their importance.
33. Would you like to change anything about your home? Why?
34. Do you often use dictionaries?
Yes, of course. I often use dictionaries to learn new words, check pronunciation, and
especially to understand their meanings better. 3 Downloaded by ?inh V? T?n D?ng (dungdinh241206@gmail.com) lOMoAR cPSD| 46560390
35. What do you mostly use dictionaries for?
I often use dictionaries to check pronunciations, find synonyms for my writing, and especially
to understand their meanings more clearly.
36. If someone gave you a dictionary as a gift, how would you feel?
I will greatly appreciate any gift someone gives me, whether it's a dictionary, a book, or
something else. However, I don't think anyone will buy me a dictionary since my friends know
I prefer using online dictionaries.
37. What do you like to talk about?
I love talking about tourist destinations because traveling is my passion. It gives me the
opportunity to experience new things, meet new people, and relieve stress after challenging days of studying.
38. Have your discussion topics changed since you were a child?
Yes, of course, my discussion topics have changed a lot. I remember that when I was in high
school with my friends, we mostly talked about the university we attended, the courses we were
taking, and the kind of person we were going to marry. However, our conversations now centre on plans after graduation.
39. Did you find it difficult to concentrate when you were a child?
Yes, absolutely. As a child, I was generally able to stay focused in class. My natural curiosity
to learn helped me pay attention to the teacher and actively participate in discussions. However,
there were times when my mind would wander, especially during longer lectures or when the
topic wasn't particularly interesting to me.
40. When do you need to concentrate the most? 4
Downloaded by ?inh V? T?n D?ng (dungdinh241206@gmail.com) lOMoAR cPSD| 46560390 
Actually, when doing my homework, I need to concentrate the most. Concentrating allows
me to complete my work more accurately and quickly. Additionally, it prevents interruptions in my thought process.
41. What do you do to help you concentrate?
I believe the best way for me to concentrate is by minimizing distractions, such as turning off
my phone notifications and placing my phone aside. Additionally, to enhance my focus while
studying, I often use the Pomodoro Technique. This method involves alternating between
periods of study and short breaks, promoting effective learning through spaced repetition.
42. Did you often go on a picnic when you were a child?
Yes, of course. When I was a child, I went to picnic places many times with my family and
my friends, and we enjoyed it a lot because I made delicious dishes and carried with me what
we all ate at that place, and we played many games there.
43. Do you often go on a picnic now?
Absolutely, I don't go on picnics now. The main reason is that the weather is quite cold now,
and my health isn't great, so I rarely go out for picnics at this time. Additionally, my studies are
currently very demanding, leaving me with little time for picnics.
44. Where do people in your country go for a picnic?
 In Vietnam, people frequently go picnicking in parks because the air is very fresh.
Additionally, the abundance of trees in these parks helps individuals relax after a long week.
Near my house, there is a large park where, every weekend, people often gather in the grassy
areas to camp, grill meat, and fly kites.
45. Do you prefer to be alone?
→ Yes of course. Honestly, I enjoy being alone because it helps me reduce stress and pressure
from work and studying. Additionally, studying alone allows me to concentrate better.
Furthermore, being alone allows me to understand myself better and improve.
46. When was the last time you were alone?
 Honestly, the last time I was by myself was last Sunday. My family went to visit my
grandmother, who was unwell, but I couldn't join them because I was busy with my homework.
I felt overwhelmed by all the work, so I decided to stay home alone to have a quiet space to finish my homework. 5 Downloaded by ?inh V? T?n D?ng (dungdinh241206@gmail.com) lOMoAR cPSD| 46560390 
PART 3 1.
What are typical choices people make at different stages of their lives?
 Actually, I think people have to make various choices at different stages of their lives. As
students, we decide whether to study at a school close by or far away from home. As adults,
our choices typically revolve around family, personal aspirations, and social relationships such
as career, marriage and travel. Moreover, many young people choose to work hard and save
money, with the intention of retiring comfortably when they're older. 2.
Should important choices be made by parents rather than young people?
 To be honest, I believe that important decisions should be made by young people rather than
their parents. Of course, they can seek advice from their parents and other persons to make
“informed” decisions, but the ultimate choices should be made by the young adults themselves
since they will have to live on their own at some point in their lives. Besides, making important
choices will also help young adults become more responsible and confident in their lives. 6
Downloaded by ?inh V? T?n D?ng (dungdinh241206@gmail.com) lOMoAR cPSD| 46560390  3.
 I think some people like to discuss choices with others because they are not sure about their
choices so they are seeking some good advice to help them make a good decision.
 I’m going to talk about an important letter, which was a letter of acceptance from my
dream university.
Although it’s been one year, I still feel wonderful whenever I think about the moment I received this letter. PART 3 1.
Why is it that some people today dislike sending text messages? 7 Downloaded by ?inh V? T?n D?ng (dungdinh241206@gmail.com) lOMoAR cPSD| 46560390 
 Let me see, there are some kinds of information that should not be communicated through
text messages.
 Well, I disagree with this idea because conventional mail has become less popular due to
other types of communication, such as emails, messengers or zalo. One possible reason could
be that it takes a long time for conventional mail to reach its receiver. Meanwhile, people using
emails or Facebook Messenger can communicate instantly. Moreover, while sending emails is
free of charge, people have to pay to send conventional mail.
PART 2: Describe your ideal house
 If I had to describe my ideal house, it would be a mansion in the countryside, especially
a three-storey house.
Besides, there would be a garden, I would hang some photos or pictures of family 8

members on the walls to create a cosy space. I prefer not to have a lot of unnecessary
furniture in my house because I want to create more open space for 9 Downloaded by ?inh V? T?n D?ng (dungdinh241206@gmail.com) lOMoAR cPSD| 46560390
PART 3: 1.
What is the biggest difference between living in a city and the countryside?
 Well, obviously, there are a number of distinctions between living in an urban area and a rural
 There are a number of distinctions between living in a house and an apartment. Firstly, a
house offers greater privacy than a flat because people living in a flat have to share lifts,
hallways, and walls. Secondly, a house provides more freedom to decorate living spaces. By
contrast, a flat may restrict decoration due to the potential disturbance it might cause to neighbors. 3.
Why do people want to own houses?
 I think that a large number of people desire to own houses for several reasons. To begin,
owning a home provides a sense of stability and security. Unlike renting, where tenants may
face rent increases or the possibility of eviction, homeowners have control over their living
situation. Additionally, owning a house allows individuals the freedom to decorate their living
spaces according to their personal preferences. 10

Part 2: Describe an out-door market that you visited
 If I had to talk about an outdoor market that I visited, it would be Nom Market, the
traditional market of my hometown.
Part 3: 1.
Do you think young people feel the same about shopping at markets like old people? Why?
 I personally agree with this idea.
 There are several benefits of purchasing things from shops compared to markets. Firstly,
shops often have security guards and cameras, making them safer and more secure, which helps

PART 2: Describe an extreme sport you would like to try
 I am going to talk about a risky sport I would like to try, which is snowboarding. It’s one
of the most popular extreme sports around the world.
PART 3 1.
→ I disagree with this idea because taking risks can lead to undesirable outcomes, such as
failure. A significant reason for this is the lack of preparation. Additionally, people often lack
the necessary knowledge, experience, and skills to handle the challenges that arise, which can
ultimately result in failure. Moreover, another reason could be unpredictable factors. For
example, inflation, and the pandemic. 12

→ Yes, of course.
13 Downloaded by ?inh V? T?n D?ng (dungdinh241206@gmail.com) lOMoAR cPSD| 46560390
→ As far as I know, there are several causes of environmental pollution. The cause of air
pollution is due to gas emissions from vehicles and exhaust fumes from factories. Moreover,
the overuse of plastic products, such as plastic bags and bottles can lead to soil and water
pollution. Natural disasters, including floods and storms, are also a factor in environmental pollution. 2.
What can people (individuals) and the government do to reduce pollution?
→ I think there are a number of methods to deal with pollution. People can create
environmental campaigns, for example, cleaning rivers, planting trees, and introducing new
types of materials that can replace plastic. In addition, people can also usually use cloth bags
instead of plastic bags. Besides, the government should introduce a strong law that prohibits
single-use plastics and increase fines for individuals and companies that release untreated waste into the environment. 3.
What’s the difference between the old and the young as regards environmentalprotection?
→ I think each generation has their own way of protecting the environment. The older
generation prefers to purchase and use eco-friendly.
→ If I had to talk about a skill that I have tried to learn, it would be time-management skills.
As a result of developing this skill, I have solved many 14

of the problems I faced. Furthermore, I have more time for myself, which has made my lifestyle
healthier, especially since I have been earning high scores on my exams. PART 3. 1.
What skills are important in business?
→ As far as I know, there are several important skills in business. One of the most important
skills is communication. It allows individuals to express their ideas clearly, collaborate in
teams, and seek assistance from friends, family, and potential investors. Additionally, financial
management skills are essential for business owners. These skills help them understand and
manage their company's financial needs effectively, which is vital to avoid potential bankruptcy. 2.
What’s the difference between the skills acquired in the past and the skillsacquired nowadays?
It allows people to adapt to our rapidly changing world and prevents them from becoming out- dated.
PART 2. Describe a piece of furniture
→ If I had to choose a favourite piece of furniture, it would be my bookshelf.
We visited a furniture store, and
thanks to my mother’s excellent bargaining skills, we managed to get it for a good deal of 3
million VND. I love this bookshelf because it has been a part of my life since childhood, 15 Downloaded by ?inh V? T?n D?ng (dungdinh241206@gmail.com) lOMoAR cPSD| 46560390
holding many cherished memories. Since I enjoy reading, I often use most of my savings to
purchase books. My collection includes novels, comics, history books, and science books. Too
many books and stuff made my room messy and cluttered. And the bookshelf helps me stay
organized, as it has plenty of drawers for storing my belongings, keeping my room neat and stylish. PART 3.
Especially, it can also reflect the personal style of the owners.
For
instance, chairs can often double as tables, helping to keep living spaces organized, neat, and stylish.
→ Well, houses in the modern days are definitely different from houses from 30 years ago.
Firstly, scientific breakthroughs have led to homes being equipped with various smart
appliances, such as water heaters and washing machines. In the past, houses were furnished 16

with wooden furniture, which gave them a luxurious appearance but often created a stuffy
atmosphere. Nowadays, many people prefer minimalist styles that blend modern and traditional
elements, resulting in homes that look modern, clean, and elegant. 17 Downloaded by ?inh V? T?n D?ng (dungdinh241206@gmail.com)
